Fitbit Challenge? Anyone interested?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
So I mentioned the other day how a few local friends and I are having a fitbit Challenge and a few of you mentioned you wanted to do it! So I thought I’d put the feelers how to see how many were interested. I’m thinking maybe we could do something like most steps in a week and the winner would get a prize (no idea what yet though)? We could even set up our own Facebook group to post about our progress, share meal idea, etc. Anyone interested?

Fitbit

In case you don’t know, the a Fitbit is a little tracker that lets you see how many steps a day you take, how many flights of stairs you climb, how many calories you burn, etc. I have the Fitbit One, but they have a Zip model as well. You can download the iPhone app or just sync it through your computer (just putting the fitbit near your computer / iPhone will sync it).  I have quickly learned that you will NOT be getting the 10,000 steps a day that is recommended unless you get up and workout.  It’s not possible!  It kinda forces you to get up and move because you want those steps to increase!

So what do you think?  Do you want in?

Oh, this looks awesome! Will it actually know how many calories I’m burning during my workout though since I don’t do a treadmill or stair climber? If so – I think I might be in on this challenge!

A thousand times yes! I don’t want to let the weight gain get out of control this pregnancy!

We ahould integrate it with my fitness pal

I’m getting one for my birthday on Saturday. Count me in! 🙂

I haven’t used my fitbit in quite awhile, but id love to do a challenge!! 🙂

If you let an “old lady” in, I’d love to participate. I rarely get 10,000 steps in a day, but I know I would try harder if there was a challenge involved.

  7. Lauren

I would totally do it! I just don’t have a fitbit…. Can I get one anywhere???

Soon after getting my fitbit, I realized there was no way I was going to get to 10,000 steps a day, so I changed my goal to 5,000. haha Even with that alteration, I still rarely meet my goal. That said, I’m down for a challenge! 🙂

I’m totally in! I need motivation. I got my fitbit about 3 weeks ago and yes, the 10,000 steps is hard to get. I’m now parking further away at stores and doing things like that to get some extra walking in. But I could definitely use a support group to help push me!

I do not have a fitbit yet but they look very interesting! I have started eating better & walking so this would really help!

    Dusts off fitbit…game on!!!

Ok yeah! I was already thinking I needed a fit bit, I will totally buy one if there’s a competition. I was just thinking the other day, how much fun it would be to go to a gym where you could rack up points, compete in challenges, etc….

I’m in!! When are you thinking of starting the challenge. The fitbit I want is out of stock 🙁 Can I join when I get it or do we all need to join at once?

This would be perfect for me. I’m unwillingly holding on to 30lbs of baby weight and I would love to have a support system to work on that with. Tried buddying up with a friend to do weight watchers but that didn’t quite work out so well and I just cancelled. Can’t wait to get started!!

I would totally be in, but I don’t have a fitbit. I have a New Balance HR monitor that does steps. Would that work?

Does this thing keep track of your heart rate at all? I am curious how many steps I do take a day…might purchase just to find out 🙂

  17. Joi

I am down. I need to use my fitbit often and get in more steps.

Can I use a regular pedometer or my Polar? I could definitely use some support getting off my butt.

Sadly I am unable to workout due to chorionic illness, but I am really interested in the sleep part. I may have to give this a try!
