Tuesdays Troubles

It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Troubles. I’ve said it before, but this should be named “things i’m annoyed / confused / want to complain about”, however I couldn’t figure out how to make any of those into a snappy title, so Tuesday Troubles it is. And yes, I do realize that these aren’t true “troubles”. I know these for sure could be defined as first world problems!

~Now that it’s finally getting nice out and B will actually be home for dinner on a nightly basis (well, he will be soon), we are so going to start eating outside on the patio. Except I realized that there is no place for WB to sit. I sold his highchair (I wasn’t a fan of it) and he just uses a booster seat high chair that we attach to our kitchen table chairs inside. This way he’s the exact same height as us and is more a part of the meal than if we used the high chair that we had (it was way too tall). So tell me, what are my options for the patio? Are there outdoor high chairs? Something I can attach to a metal table without ruining it?

~What on earth is up with all the cars parking on the street? In some neighborhoods, like for example, in a BIG CITY, I totally get this. I mean, where else would you park?  But our neighborhood has houses with attached garages. And driveways. So let’s say you have a 3 car garage. One spot is probably filled with your crap (tools, lawn mower, etc), so that leaves two spots to park in. And then you’ve got three additional spots in the driveway. So why are we all parking in the street? Am I missing something? Even if your garage is totally 100% full of crap, you still have a driveway no? Why not park there instead of on both sides of the street so that only one car can fit down the middle to drive. Does this annoy anyone else? Because it really gets me. First world problem for sure.

~In cases of new construction, don’t you always wonder what they are building? Why don’t they put up signs? Everyone wants to know don’t they? I LOVE when I pass a construction site and it says “Future Home of CVS” or whatever, so I know what is being built. But then there are those sites you pass every single day and cannot figure out what it’s going to be. A fun new restaurant? A bank? Medical offices? Who knows?

~I wasn’t feeling too hot last week so I did nothing, but I got back to C25K yesterday and what do you know, it was much easier than it has been in the past. I don’t know why, but it was. However, while easier, it was BORING. Oh so boring. What do you do when you run (or walk) on the treadmill to stay entertained? I need to be distracted so I am not thinking about quitting the entire time. What do you recommend? A fun playlist (if so with what)? An audio book? Help me not be bored!

~We have some workmen coming to the house today and it’s always so awkward to have someone in the house.  I feel like I am invading on their space by being home.  I know, this is very strange because it’s my house and all, but I just think if it were me and I was in someone’s house working, I wouldn’t want them staring at me all day while I was working you know?  Does anyone else feel this way?  Or am I just weird?

That’s it from here for now! What’s troubling you today?

Our treadmill faces a TV so we’re able to watch that while we run/walk. Or, sometimes we’ll use our Ipad and watch something via Netflix on it. Even so, I agree it gets BORING and tedious. Good luck to you on your C25K. I bet one day you’ll even run those 5Ks and half marathons with B!

It drives me crazy when they don’t have signs at construction sites. We have a neighborhood here that used to put the family’s name on a little yard sign up when they bought the property. It was pretty neat.

When I’m the treadmill…which is not often lately…I listen to a Pandora station called 80s Cardio Radio…since we’re nearly the same age I think you’ll like it. It makes the time go by so much faster when I’m walking to “Danger Zone”. LOL When I’m not listening to Pandora, I watch TV. When we go to the gym, I always watch either Duck Dynasty (because we don’t have that channel) or some Criminal Minds-like show. I’m also a big fan of audio books.

I just got back into the C25K too. The 30 minutes isn’t so bad, but once it gets up to the higher intervals of running I get bored. I used to listen to music, watch TV with subtitles, and sometimes have a magazine or something. Now that I run at home I have my ipod and that’s it. I’m not help at all. If you find some magical cure for running boredom, let me know!

Toooooooo funny about new construction. My family always laughs at how mad I get when I see new construction but don’t know what it is. I’m very laid back and don’t complain about much, but, drive me by a new building with no sign and I can’t quit complaining!!

I’m also with you on the street parking. We also live in the suburbs where houses have as many garages as bathrooms…and they still park on the streets. So annoying!!

  5. Alison

I like to watch TV while I’m on the tredmill.

  6. Wendy

I hate running on a treadmill! I am an outside runner. At least you have some scenery, animals, etc to stare at!

I agree with you on the construction signs! I am always so curious as to what is coming to town!

    Have a great Tuesday!

We have a lot of cars in our neighborhood too, but usually because the driveway is open for the kids to play. But it is annoying, especially if you’re having people over, and there are no open street spots!

I like to look at magazines if I’m walking on the treadmill or using the elliptical. If I jog, I just have to focus on not falling off. I’m one of “those” people 😉

I live in a neighborhood too and each house has a 2 car garage. So one side for your stuff the other for a car and your other car in the driveway. So I kindof see if you have a teenager then you have a third car and need to park in in front of your house but why are you always parking in front of my house? I live in the cul de sac but you have a spot in front of your house too so park there. Yes its a pet peeve. My mailman is great and will still deliver my mail but sometimes we have a sub and they always leave a note. I just put it on the car that’s in the way since its never my car.

I’ve started audio books while on the elliptical. I’d have to have the tv up too loud to watch that. I can download free audio books from my library so I’m starting with those. They selection isn’t great but the price is. 🙂

  9. Simone

We have the $20 highchair from IKEA, it works great for outside.

  10. Shannon

Even more annoying is when someone has like 6 cars and they all park on the street. My next door neighbor has this problem. It is irritating.

My Tuesday Trouble is that ever since my gum surgery on Friday, I’ve felt narcoleptic. I’m not usually the type to nod off randomly, but I have been SO sleepy. Its annoying! I am literally falling asleep at my desk writing this. And I know no amount of caffeine is going to help. I’m just not sensitive enough to it. I just want to take a nap, but can’t. 🙁

I hate when people need to come work on our house. In my head I’m thinking, “Where do I go? What should I do?” I cannot relax while they are there, so I usually just end up creeping around my own house to make myself look busy until they are done.

  12. Mom

I’m with you on needing to know what is being built.

Trashy novels on my iPhone help me when I walk (inside or out), walking outside is way better and doesn’t seem nearly as long as when I’m on the treadmill. You can probably get books on CD from your library for free.

It’s funny because I hate to be home when a workman comes, but it never bothered me when they came to your house and I was there.

Good lord it’s like you read my mind about everything! But the sign thing although I agree I also think it’s cool to be surprised.
What I also hate is when kids play in the street and refuse to get out of the way for oncoming cars! Everyone on my street has a fenced in yard that is at least a 1/4 acre if not a 1/2, so why are they in the road?
Treadmill wise I like to listen to my ” old ” music in other words music that everyone else hates from the 80’s and 90’s. Or better yet a scary movie so I’m so caught up and scared it makes me walk/run faster… Just a thought lol

  14. Susan Lowry

I catch up on the DVR. When I first did C25K several years ago, I had never watched Grey’s Anatomy, so I rented the First Season on DVD and watched those. I have also been known to read on my Kindle while running, but thats weird, I know. 🙂

  15. Alexia561

I usually listen to music or read my nook when I’m on the treadmill or exercise bike. I have friends who swear by audio books, but I sometimes get so into the book that I stop moving! *L*

So I came over today because I realized it was Tuesday Troubles and I’m sitting here annoyed with people because they can’t follow directions. ARGH! I’m entering a promotion where they give out a secret word (in 5 minutes!) and then you fill out a form to get a free item. For some reason, people keep posting asking why they haven’t gotten the secret word… -____- I mean, I should be glad because all those confused participants won’t get the freebie and I will, but gosh I’d hate to be the promotion host getting all these stupid/silly questions!

I think people park on the street when they’re too lazy to turn and/or back up? o.O

I like trying to guess what a new building will be. You should place some bets. 😉

I just had AT&T Uverse installed in my parents’ house and it was super weird… like where should I be? I wanted to be available in case he needed to tell me anything, but I didn’t want to be in the way or gawking at him working. Definitely know how you feel. I ended up reading on the stairs both days.

At the gym that I go to the treadmills face the street and theres big windows, so I always look out the windows to distract myself. Also I always bring a magazine to cover up the screen so that I can’t see how much time I have left, otherwise I’ll just keep checking it and be miserable! haha

We just got our carpets professionally cleaned last week and it was super awkward! I kept asking my husband, should we just leave or something??

OMG did you catch the season finale of teen mom last night? If you haven’t seen it you’ve got to! Also next Monday they’ll have the reunion where they all sit and talk with Dr.Drew. I saw the previews of that and it looks like it’s going to be good!!

  18. Jodi

That’s the same on our street too!! So many cars, so many empty driveways! It always scares me that kids are going to run onto the street hidden from these cars!! I go slow, but can’t say the same for everyone else around here!!
I totally feel the same when people are working in my house! Very awkward!

  19. sara

Erin starts day shift in 3 weeks and that means dinners with him every night!! I’m so excited.

  20. Suzanne

If my boys were still babies I would so have one of these high chairs! http://theportablehighchair.com/ They fold up like a camp chair and are so cool. The top has a cup/bottle holder & wipes clean. I think it would be great for the back yard, a park or camping!

  21. Jill

The car thing drives me CRAZY! We have three cars and park 2 in our garage and one in our driveway. A lot of people around us turn their garage into a second living room of sorts and park only one car in their driveway (when clearly 2 can fit). They then proceed to park at the curb in front of my house; they should park in front of their own house! Sometimes I park on the street where they normally park just to irritate them…although it’s probably only irritating me. 🙂

  22. Jessica Spaulding

95% of the time in our town new construction means another damn bank! So annoying!

  23. Jamie

I get the worker in your house I feel weird too I feel like I should be helping or talking to them almost as if they r a guest and I should feed and entertain them my hubby says I am weird but I don’t feel like I can veg out and watch TiVo while they r working it feels rude or something

  24. Tara

I just started back at the gym a month ago after having a baby last year also and I despise cardio! It is so boring but feels so good when it’s done! The only way I can get through it is by either taking a kickboxing class that I get to kick ass at or by downloading a fun playlist. I found a site called runhundred.com that posts monthly workout playlists and has votes on all different genres of music as to which ones are the best to workout to. It’s free and got me a little motivated… At least as much ask can be to do cardio 🙂

  25. Evelyn

The thing that get’s me with cars on the curb is when my neighbors decide their empty 2 car garage, driveway and curb is not the place to park. They instead park in front of my house and sometimes they don’t move it for day’s. Like I want to see your car every time I look out my window or let the dog out and what’s wrong with the front of your house. It just drives me bonkers!! Good therapy letting that out.lol 😀

  26. Val

People park on our street all of the time! Everytime I walk the dog, I’m shocked at how many households have their garage full of junk and don’t park in the garage at all (even in winter!). What’s the point of having a garage?!! Attics and basements are for junk. And yes, people don’t seem to understand that they shouldn’t park directly across from another car on the street – but honestly (and sadly) most people don’t care about or notice what isn’t going to affect them.

  27. Danielle

I’m with you on the last trouble! Whenever the cleaning lady comes, I always leave and go to work! Otherwise I would feel like I need to help clean too instead of just watching her do it!
