June Bulu Box

I signed up for Bulu Box when they had a free box deal a while back and then ended up getting a 3-month subscription I believe? I got my June Bulu (Weight Loss) Box yesterday, which, I believe, is the last month of my deal.

The Box

I don;t recall getting a tracking number in the past, but I got one this month and was able to track my box without a problem. Bulu Box ships via USPS, but it look a bit to arrive. A week actually. It must be first class mail, not priority mail.

Bulu Box
First Look

I was surprised to realize that June is the first birthday of Bulu Box! I had no idea they’d only been around a year.

Bulu Box
The Information Card

The information card includes pictures and descriptions of all of the products in the box. The June Bulu Box theme was “Feel-Good Discovery” On the reverse side of the information card is a “My Sample Journal” which lists each of the samples and then asks how you felt before the sample and how you left after so you can easily remember, yeah I like that one, or nope, that wasn’t for me. I always forget to fill mine out, but I do like the idea. Here’s what my June box included:

~BioVi Probiotic: Am I the only person left who doesn’t take a probiotic?  I have often considered it but just haven’t actually done it.  Plus I don’t really know where to start.  Wait, I guess this would be a place to start?  I am going to give this a go and see if I can even tell any difference?  And probiotic users, tell me more!!

~BluCetin:  Ohh, if only this would have come before Bonnaroo!  I am guessing B isn’t feeling at his best in the mornings and maybe this would have helped?  Certainly couldn’t have made things worse that’s for sure!

~FlapJacked Protein Pancakes:  I was *this close* to buying this the last time I placed an order at Bulu Box and didn’t because I just was’t sure!  They aren’t iHOP pancakes, but they are pretty good ;).

~EatGreenTea:  This is….interesting.  It’s not green tea like you think of green tea.  It’s tea that you mix in with your food.  I am sort of scared to mix this since I don’t want to ruin whatever I am eating.  I do like the idea of getting the benefits of this into my diet, but I am worried about the taste.  Has anyone every tried this?

~Shapeology Burn Blend: This is supposed to mimic the effect of high metabolism to help you lose weight.  I’m NOT one of those people who was blessed with high metabolism, however, I probably won’t try this because I am starting the Challenge soon!

I didn’t do a cost breakdown this month, but after reviewing the products and getting the points to spend in the Bulu Box store, the box will have ended up costing $5!  Not a bad deal at all!  I would have paid $5 just to try the pancake mix!!

I am one of those probiotic people…a probiotic won’t undo a bad diet as far as digestive health is concerned, but I do find that I feel better when I take it regularly.

  2. Lauren

I have not got my Bulu box yet this month and after seeing this I am super excited to get it! I really want to try that pancake mix! I will totally use everything in this months box!

I take a prescribtion probiotic but only because I have a chronic stomach condition and I don’t have a gallbladder. I have to take it because I have a stomach ache 24/7 and always will and everything I eat gives me an upset stomach due to my conditions. I have to take one to help regulate them. I’m not sure what other people take a probiotic for other than with antibiotics.

@Ace: have you been to the doctor for this? My boyfriend suffers from the same thing. We cut out most fried, acidic, dairy foods etc…which he loves and we have been trying to eat very clean. We have definitely seen an improvement in his digestion and stomach cramps/pains but I’m worried he has a stomach issue that needs to be known about sooner than later.

      thank you for your time

I got my last July Box last month, but was delighted with the Love With Food box. I live in Bonnaroo’ s backyard and my box definitely had Bonnaroo material, but TH err best I s probably homemade!

  6. Shauna

I have a sensitive stomach, and have borderline IBS. I love my probiotic because it makes everything work the way it’s supposed to. I buy an awesome one at Costco that does the trick for a great price, too. Try it! It certainly can’t hurt!

    1. Shira

@Shauna: what is the probiotic you use from Costco called? I love probiotics, but find them expensive.

  7. Crystal G

I’ve tried a few different probiotics..each time they gave me terrible acne. won’t be doing that again!

  8. Kim

I didn’t get the green tea packet. Also the probiotic said 30 pills on the box and had two inside. I felt this box was a lot less than usual ones.

    1. KT My Lady

@Kim: I got the same, only two samples of the probiotic. I cancelled my subscription.

  9. Jessica @ Healthy Wife, Happy Life

So annoying! I got the Weight Loss Bulu Box and mine was junk compared to this one! I am so done with Bulu Box! The last two months have been terrible for me!

  10. Susan B

Kim, I felt the same way I picked up the BioVi box and went wow these are super light and then opened it and saw 2. Here I thought I could try and see if they work but really can you tell after 2 pills?

  11. KT My Lady

How many sample of the probiotics did you get? I think mine only came with two, but I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to get more. Excited to try the pancakes!

  12. Mackenzie

I also got this box a couple days ago, and am about to post my review! I agree with your blurb on the green tea sprinkles… I’m thinking using it in oatmeal or something you can blend it into. Also, so excited to make the protein pancakes!

Jessica- I was signed up for the weight loss box and got this one so maybe it was a blessing in disguise… what was in your weight loss box??

Susan/Kim- same with me, felt like the packaging was not accurate, but i’m okay with it being a sample.

  13. Kasey

I just signed up for my first box 🙂 I think you are getting me addicted to these monthly subscription boxes!

  14. Kristen M

I ordered the weight loss box for July and ordered TWO gift subscriptions for fathers day gifts for the REGULAR box and then called my dad to compare what we got….well turns out for the month of July both regular subscription and the weight loss box received the same exact items, literally, not a single difference which was a little disappointing, why have two subscription options if everyone gets the same stuff anyways? Burn blend was in the July box too.

  15. Tammie

Has anyone tried the BurnBlend yet? I got my box yesterday. I do not want take the BurnBlend if it makes you jittery.

    1. Michelle

I’ve tried the burn blend and like it so far! Not sure it mimicks my metabolism or else I’d be hungry all the time, but it is a GREAT appetite suppressant which is probably how the weight loss occurs. I don’t feel jittery at all, but I am not one to usually get the jitters when taking these types of products. Start with one pill; that’s all I’ve been taking and it seems to work. Also, this may be too much info, but since I’ve been taking it, I have also been more “regular” if you catch my drift. This is probably another weight loss contributor, but there’s no cramping or running to the bathroom like when you drink diet teas.

I think ill actually purchase a bottle of this!

  16. Deb

I received my BuluBox yesterday. It contained a bottle of Shapeology BurnBlend (7 servings), a 2 pill trial of Vivarin (took those in college 100 years ago for all nighters), a trial packet of BSN AminoX, and a trial packet of Pacific Health Labs Body Glove Surge Shot. I have a few workouts coming up this week and will give the samples a try. We’ll see if it’s worth it.

  17. angela

WOW yours is so much better than mine I got 4 tiny packet samples. The flapjacked ting is cute as hell though.. gives m hop for next months box. I’m gonna use it as stocking stuffers for the man.

  18. Denise

Just saw an offer for bulu on plumdistrict (didn’t mention only new subscribers either) and knew I could find some reviews from you! And your free box promo code from March worked for me so ordered my free box and then plan to start my plum offer after that 🙂

    1. Jennifer

They always have such great deals!! And their points system is great!

  19. Jenni

I want to share my thoughts on Bulu. I’m a gluten-free vegan, and they made these boxes sound like they’d be a good fit for someone with my dietary restrictions. They were anything but – FULL of cancer-causing whey products, tiny samples I could get free at Whole Foods, and a lot of hyped up junk. I got the “free” box and chose not to do a subscription. However, low and behold, this month I was billed for a box, which they charge on the day they ship it so I can’t stop it or dispute their “non-refundable” policy. Mind you, I did NOT save my payment information with them and I can log in and it clearly shows no payment information is stored because I’m not under a subscription. THIS IS ILLEGAL, FRAUDULENT USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION. They basically said too bad so sad, it’s non-refundable and the free box automatically enrolls me in a subscription (even though I checked the one-time box, apparently the free box overrides your actual choices). BEWARE – if you DON’T want Bulu box, you may end up being charged anyways, and more concerning is their storage of your personal and payment information even when you’ve specifically elected for them NOT to save that information.

      Jenni,

I understand your comments and would like to personally connect with you to make things right. If you can email me at paul@bulubox.com or call (646) 417-2838 I would enjoy discussing your point of view. I’d also like to learn where in the cancellation process of your subscription we went wrong. You’re obviously upset and I’d like to make it right. We have a dedicated, very small team that works incredibly hard to make Bulu Box happen – and well, we care about things like this.

I’ll look forward to you contacting me.

My concern with the eatgreentea sample is that it says it contains the equivalent of antioxidants of 30 cups of green tea in the packet. Just how much caffeine is in that sample, if any? It doesn’t give any nutritional information on the packet and I’d be afraid to eat anything that could be potentially fatal. I don’t know if your readers have noticed the increase in deaths from heart arrhythmia in young people today due to ingestion of highly-caffeinated products, such as energy drinks, energy tablets and other supposedly safe health supplements and products.

    1. Jennifer

That review was from June 2013 and I can’t remember if it had any nutritional information on the pack of the packet or if there was a card that came along with it. I suspect there was because their stuff usually has information along with it.

  21. Kris

I received my first Bulu Box from a 3 box deal. I had been looking forward to receiving it but must say I was disappointed with the contents. Inside was 2 Pur-Absorb Iron packets which is interesting, a box of Rescue Pearls for stress, 1 serving of MetaPowder, 2 samples of Rutaesomn for sleep, 1 tea bag of Revolution Tea and 2 capsules of Burn Blend. I am really interested in the Burn Blend but 2 capsules is hardly enough to see if it works. Hoping the next 2 boxes are better!

I ordered my Bulu box in October and STILL haven’t received it – it’s now December! And customer service is not getting back to me
