June Conscious Box

My June Conscious Box arrived yesterday and I opened it right away!  This month is the second month of a three-month subscription I ordered a while back on during a Plum District deal. In case you don’t know, Conscious Box offers a monthly delivery of pure and sustainable products that are handpicked from businesses that care for the planet. You’ll receive 10-20 items from companies working towards the most ethical goals.

Conscious Box
The Box

I’m skipping the outer box picture this month, but Conscious Box ships a box in a box.  This is the inner box where all the action is at!  Oh and Conscious Box ships via USPS and took two days to get to me (in MI) from Portland, OR.  Take that all those other boxes with slow shipping!

Conscious Box
First Look

I was super excited by the June Conscious Box first look!  I didn’t see much I recognized, but I saw a lot of things I couldn’t wait to look at more and discover, so I knew it was going to be a good box.

Conscious Box
The Information Card

I could not have been more thrilled when I saw an actual information card in the June Conscious Box.  Usually they e-mail you with the box contents, but this is WAY better!  Totally made the box 100x better for me!  Here’s what was inside:

~Paper Culture Card ($2.59) + $25 Voucher($27.59): Paper Culture has some super stuff stuff, however, I went online to see if I could actually get anything without spending money, but I couldn’t ;(. It was going to run me $8.99 to ship 10 cards. Really? I’m going to see how much address labels run, so all hope isn’t lost yet. They do have really cute stuff though, so I do want to use it. I don’t want to pay $9 to ship anything though.

~Nature’s Baby Organics Shampoo + Body Wash(Vanilla Tangerine) ($2.49): This smells exactly like The Honest Co. body wash. Exactly. The lather is a bit different, but I love this. I’ve never heard of this brand before, but I will certainly try more from them.

~$50 Gift Card from Naked Wines($50): My goodness, Naked Wines is everywhere! Clearly they want me to drink some wine. They do ship to my state, so I think I may have to break down and place an order. Has anyone ordered from them yet? Any recommendations??

~Greek Island Labs Natural Join Supplement($6): This supplement is designed to promote healthy joints an supports flexibility and mobility. I probably won’t end up using this because 5 days is too little to decide if I like it and I probably wouldn’t buy it to test it out longer. But there isn’t anything wrong with it! I’ve give it to B ;).

~Earth Friendly Products Organic Lemongrass Hand Soap($0.82): This soap smells great and I can’t wait to use it. Also, who knew this brand was so inexpensive? Why don’t I buy this on a regular basis?

~Molly Muriel Volcanic Bliss Bar Soap / Soft As Silk Shampoo Bar(~$3): I had to estimate the prices on these since there was not a weight on the package. B will totally snatch up the bar soap and I am all over the shampoo bar! Has anyone ever used a shampoo bar? I am excited to try it.

~sneakz organic Chocolate Milkshake($2.08): This drink has a full serving of vegetables in every box, which I think is great. I gave both L and B a taste of it and they enjoyed it. At least L did (he drank most of it actually). WB didn’t make a crazy face so I assume he liked it too!

~Organic Flavrz (Boost + Revive)($4.50): Ha! I just got this in the June Love With Food box as well and I had just let L try this when the June Conscious Box arrived. I agree that it’s good, but it’s no Spark ;).

Organic Flavrz (Boost + Revive)

~Skout Organic TrailBar (Apple + Cinnamon & Cherry + Vanilla) ($4.98):  These are organic, gluten-free, vegan and contain non-GO ingredients and are actually pretty tasty.  I tried the Apple + Cinnamon one and was quite surprised.  Not as good as LUNA bars, but not in the same category as a SoyJoy either.

~LARABAR Alt Peanut Butter Cookie Fruit and Nut Bar ($1.50): LARABAR’s are pretty tasty, so I was pleased to see this in the box.  I’ve never had this flavor, but it sounds yummy.  Something tells me B will snatch this up before I get a chance to try it!

~Son for men soothe (~$1): B will be thrilled to try this and that he gets another sample.  My sample hoard is huge, but not B’s.  He gets sample and uses them right away.  I put them away and then after I realize I haven’t tried it yet, I am forced to dig it out and locate it!  Maybe it’s easier for him because he gets less samples?

All totaled I came up with a value of $28.96 for the June Conscious Box.  That doesn’t include the Paper Culture voucher or the Naked Wines gift card (which would bring the value of the box to $103.96) because you have to spend money to redeem them.  This was probably my favorite Conscious Box every and I felt like it was a great value as well, since Conscious Box is only $19.95/month ($12 + $7.95/shipping).

Do you subscribe to Conscious Box? What’d you think of this months box? If you are interested in subscribing or want to learn more, click here.  And you can try your first box for only $7.95 (the shipping cost) with the code: “FIRSTBOXFREE”!!!

This has been my favorite box by far! Really I like snacks and body products (and I LOVE paper goods) so it’s perfect. The ones with too many supplements or kid items are just not as much fun to me.

I use shampoo bars from Lush and I love them! It’s strange to get used to at first but I’ll never go back to liquid shampoo. Plus they’re super easy to travel with!

ne of my best friends works for naked wines, there is always a good choice of wine at his house!!

I ordered the naked wines, and thought they were pretty good and a great value with the gift card. They have different prices if you are an Angel (haven’t figured out that yet but you have to keep $40 in the account to spend or get back? and then you get 40% off). Anyway, they gave me a complimentary $40.00 after my order.
Then I got another $50 card in another box and I wasn’t able to use it because I was already an existing customer.
    PS
Don’t make my mistake and leave off the “wines” when trying to get to their web page.

Looks like a good box this month! I recently cancelled Conscience box because their customer service pissed me off so bad! I have a couple of those Naked Wine gift cards! I haven’t used them yet tho (I got one from Crave Box and I was super broken hearted to find out they are out of business! I loved Crave Box). You have to spend $10 on shipping if your order is less than $100. Kinda of annoying to me since I could totally go to Fresh & Easy down the street and spend $2.99 for a bottle of wine…. but I will probably break down and get some!

That natures baby shampoo….um I love the conditioner!!! I use it for Alessio since he had such a head of hair and it doubles as a detangler. Love!

I received my June CB yesterday and the info card totally made me think of you!

Cool thing… I met Love With Food’s founder at Seattle’s first VloggerFair a week or two ago. She asked me how I found out about their box/company, and I made sure to mention your blog. She immediately recognized your blog name and said you’re a great supporter. 🙂

Fortune cookie soaps has shampoo and conditioner bars that will change your life! They smell so good and lather very quickly and last a longtime. I love unicorn farts smell shampoo bar. Plus they are a great small business to support!

I just used your link to sign up and used the code FREEBOX and only paid the $7.95 for shipping! Can’t wait to get my box!

I am NOT a happy customer! First off, for those who do not know what Conscious Box is, it is a subscription services that sends you items from eco-friendly companies directly to your door every month. These items are generally sample sized, but occasionally included full sized items like a drink box, snack bar or toothpaste, etc. Most (if not all) items could otherwise be obtained for free by contacting the company directly, but Conscious Box has done the “legwork” for you by contacting eco-friendly companies, collecting the items, putting them into pretty packaging and shipping them directly to your door. Now, for your first subscription it is very easy to find a 50% off coupon, which can, according to some, make Conscious Box worth it–paying Conscious Box somewhere around $8 per box for all the time and effort they have saved you. (Do be aware that you will very often receive duplicate samples on subscriptions longer than 3-months.)

HOWEVER, what is very easily missed is the fact that you are not just signing up for a single-month, three-month, six-month or twelve-month subscription, you are actually signing up for an AUTORENEWAL single, three, six or twelve month subscription and all subsequent subscriptions are charged at the full rate of almost $20 per box! But it gets even more sticky when you purchase through a third party website like I did.

I purchased my Conscious Box 3-month subscription through Educents.com, a site similar to Groupon that offers mainly educational items at a significant discount. Educents.com was the one that collected payment from me, NOT Conscious Box. There was NO indication AT ALL on the Educents.com website about autorenewal. (I do not blame this on Educents because I’m sure they had no idea. You receive a coupon code from Educents after purchase and use the code to go directly to the Conscious Box website to complete the order.) Shame on Conscious Box for deceptive marketing practices, especially when it comes to the use of third party companies! My money was paid to a third party to buy a three month subscription to Conscious Box AS ADVERTISED. It was NOT paid to a third party to buy an autorenewal type subscription.

When I saw a $60 charge to my bank account from Conscious Box this month, I contacted them about it. They simply said that I was made aware of autorenewal during the sign-up process and, though they cancelled all future subscriptions, they offer no refunds on active subscriptions. I informed them that my initial purchase was via Educents.com with no indication of autorenewal and I am awaiting a response.

Beware of this company and others like it. Read ALL the fine print! If you purchase through a third-party website, make sure you research the company before completing the purchase so there are no surprises in the end.

Want samples from eco-friendly companies? Go to a site like bcorporation.net and get a list of the best companies and email them directly for free samples. They will also come directly to your door, but they probably won’t come to you in a fancy box.

I love these great boxed ideas for people like me who search for products that I have not tried. The only thing that I have a pet-peeve with is packing food items with home products; yes they are sealed but liquids can seep and I wish their packaging was separate 🙂

DO NOT GIVE IN TO THEIR ‘FREE’ OFFER’S!! They auto renew your subscription on the 1st of each month no matter when you signed up!! So what that means is, if you sign up on the 20th of the month for a subscription, they charge you on the 1st for another box. I did not cancel my subscription until I received an email that my box was shipped (the 2nd of March) and when I checked my account, they had already charged me for another box. They REFUSE to give refunds so do not sign up for any free products unless you plan on paying for another the next month. Customer service is 100 times better at Nature Box and they are actually pleasant to talk to, unlike this companies. I will never purchase form this company based on their principle, which obviously isn’t customer service since they refuse to give a refund, and solely on the fact that I am completely dissatisfied with the way I was treated.
