In one of the nicest surprises of my week, the June Treatsie Box appeared in my mailbox yesterday. If you haven’t heard of them, Treatsie is a subscription to artisan candy from ever-changing vendor. It’s $15/month and you can expect to receive samples of candies you’d normally never discover unless you happened to stumble upon their shop.
I got a bunch of packages yesterday and I went for Citrus Lane first and then got busy and didn’t get a chance to get into the rest until the kids went to bed. Had I known what this was though (the return address did not say Treatsie), I would have opened it sooner!
I was still wondering what in the world was in this package, but I did like the metallic silver bubble envelope!
Ahh, it’s Treatsie!! Once I saw the name on the box I was so excited to dig into it and check out what they sent. I should mention that inside the bubble envelope was also a small cool pack and the actual box was shrink wrapped so that it didn’t get icky from the sweat of the cool pack or anything.
I was so excited by the first look! So many fun treats to try. A few I recognized, but most I did not.
Treatsie doesn’t have an information card, rather they direct you to their website to learn more about each of the items in the box (their history, tasting notes, etc.). Here is what we received in the June Treatsie box:
~Askinosie Chocolate: itty bars (Dark Chocolate): I received this in a box (Fancy Food Box maybe) and loved them so I know I will love these too. This dark chocolate doesn’t taste like say, a Hershey’s Special Dark. No no no. Way different. It’s got so much more flavor that you just need a little piece to get that craving to go away. You don’t need or want an entire bar!
~Southern Pecan Toffee by Lambrecht Gourmet: I don’t like love toffee or anything and if I were to go to a fancy candy shop, I probably wouldn’t pick toffee as a treat. But that said, this was good. Very good actually!! I would love to see how they make this. I always love watching the behind the scenes of candy making!
~Liddabit Sweets Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels and Fig-Ricotta Caramels: Mmmm. I tried the Fig-Ricotta before I looked at the flavor and would have described them as coffee like. I wasn’t even close. The dark chocolate sea salt caramels? OMG. Amazing. Amazing.
~Liddabit Sweets Barley Tea & Honey Sucker:I figured this didn’t taste like hot tea (which I dislike greatly), so I ate it while writing this review. It was good. Not too sweet and it didn’t make me thirsty, which some hard candies do. Is that odd? Do other people notice this?
I didn’t go a cost breakdown on Treatsie but I am 100% sure it’d be more than $15 to pick up these exact items plus shipping online. I thought the June Treatsie was super fun and can’t wait to see what they come up with in future months!
