It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Troubles. I’ve said it before, but this should be named “things i’m annoyed / confused / want to complain about”, however I couldn’t figure out how to make any of those into a snappy title, so Tuesday Troubles it is. And yes, I do realize that these aren’t true “troubles”. I know these for sure could be defined as first world problems!
~If you are out to eat at a fairly busy place and you are with only one other person, do you sit at a table for two or a table for four? Let’s pretend the lunch place you are at is fairly crowded but has lots of two tops open, but only one four top open. And you clearly see that there are other people there with, umm, groups of four. Do you still swoop in and take the bigger table so you can spread out your food or whatever? Just curious. We were at Pita Pit yesterday and this went down and B and WB and L and I had to sit at a little table while these two ladies were sprawled out all over a for top. I mean, we were fine and all and I am laughing while typing this because it sounds so stupid typing it out, but I was slightly annoyed because I totally would have been like no, take my big table! But should I even be annoyed? Or is it like I got here first so whatever?
~I never get milk at Costco, but ended up picking some up when I was there last week. Umm, that container? What a mess! I think I poured half of it all over the counter when I was trying to get it into sippy cups for WB. Who designed this? Is there some secret to using it??
~Baxter and Buddy have been CRAZY lately. Like if I didn’t know better, I’d think they needed a vacation. From each other. If one of them does something the other one doesn’t like? OMG, let the battle begin. They don’t like hurt each other fight. No, they more like bicker. But it’s annoying and I want it to end! Do they need to go talk to someone about this? Should I call Cesar Millan?
~How often does everyone get professional pictures taken of their kids? I feel like I am kind of a slacker here because I didn’t get 5 year-old pictures for L. He got professional ones in the summer, school pictures in the fall, holiday pictures, easter pictures and spring school pictures, so I didn’t think special 5 year-old ones were necessary. Actually, now that I am thinking about it, I clearly get too many pictures taken??? What’s your standard schedule for pictures?
~My iPhone has been flashing this odd “Quota Limited Reached” message at me every once in a while and frankly, I’m scared to GTS and see what it means. I just click okay like nothing happened and continue on with my daily activity, but is this thing just going to stop working all of a sudden? Does anyone know what this means and can break it down into small words for me???
That’s it from here for now! What’s troubling you today?
I just got milk at Costco and I was thinking the same thing!! When did they change it?
Wth is that milk container?? I’ve never been to Costco, but I don’t understand why someone thought a regular milk jug needed to be redesigned??? LOL!
And my pets are NUTS right now, too! I think it’s the changing seasons!! 🙂
I’m cracking up at that milk! I got one of those once from somewhere strange and the weight is just not distributed evenly. Use two hands, or a carafe! LOL
I’m horrrrrible with pictures for Willard. Horrible! I take pictures all the time with my phone but he got Spring pictures with school and if those turn out great then I’m done for the year! When I was in the city (tear) I used to get them done for any reason because there was a Picture People there and their coupons are awesome and their photos are amazing and they print them out right there! They always had specials for what was going on (Valentines day, st pattys. etc, big holidays, etc.)
Don’t freak out about the iphone quota limit. It has to do with your email provider sever space available to you. Chances are you are close to your limit! Get to deleting, from the server!
I know what you mean about the tables! We (4 of us) went to a little pizza shop – they mostly do take out. However, we were eating in. So at the one table we could all sit at – a 5 top round table sat a fairly large man. Glancing around I saw 2 available – 2 tops available – not next to each other. He looked at us – I looked at him – then you guessed it – he proceeded to sit and wait for his take out. I had the girls sit at one and us at another until he got up less than 5 minutes later. I guess what I should have done was sit our 4 at His 5 top!
The Milk was a cluster for us as well! I did exactly the same thing – poured it all over the counter, the floor, my SHOES! Ugh! So of course I transfered the milk into Tuperware – but nobody drank it! They thought it was expired or some weird experiment I had going. (plus they kept telling me we were OUT of REAL milk)
I’m sorry, but those ladies should have known better than to take a 4-top with it just being the two of them and they really should have gotten up to offer you their table and moved somewhere else! THat is one of my biggest pet peeves ever… LIke when I used to ride the lightrail, people would pile all their stuff on the seat just so no one would sit next to them during rush hour! Seriously folks, drive if you want to be alone! I think I screamed at least once a night at stupid people, lol!
We used to buy milk at costco when it was still in the regular jugs! Whoever redesigned this was not thinking at all! I understand that it probably is space saving now, but come on, the designer needs to go back to the drawing board!
My animals have been nutso lately too! We tend to break everyone up for short periods of time. I will take Lillian in the room with me and Tim will take Mr. Ticket into a room with him and we will make Mr. Moo go to bed… We do this once or twice a week to break up their frustration of always being around each other.
The only professional pictures my mom ever got of me were the ones the school offered twice a year. Then of course there were the ones she took herself, but my mom felt that the school pictures were sufficient, lol!
As for your quota limit reached, its your e-mail, its overloaded, you gotta start deleting e-mails!!!
We started out getting all the school pictures plus b-day & Christmas pictures for our first daughter. But unfortunately, by the time we got to DD’s 2 & 3, we now just do the school pictures & Christmas, not birthdays anymore. Part of it is because they have Jan & Feb birthdays, so when their birthday comes, we’re still fresh from the Christmas pictures. So it seems too soon, then their school does Spring pictures too. I think 3 – 4 times a year is plenty for us.
I have never seen a milk container like that! It’s crazy. We don’t have a Costco near us, hopefully it isn’t a new trend, and they start turning up at Kroger. LOL.
The Costco milk containers here (Nevada) used to be like that, then they switched to regular containers about 2 years ago. I really hope they haven’t switched them back. But maybe it’s regional? I think a cube of milk is just easier to put in a box?
I never had professional pictures done until school photos. I kind of regret it a little but I have so many that I’ve taken it’s not like their is a picture shortage… just a clear, well lit picture shortage 😉
Agree – parties of 2 should take a 2 table unless they place is totally empty.
I am with you on your feelings about the tables, I think some people are clueless! Now on to the milk, I always buy from Costco, last trip was last week, and I have not seen anything like that and am a little scared for when I do. Why change something that works perfectly fine!!
I would say raising a teenager! I would say lets speed through these years but, I have two more after this one lol. I am about to get him a tent and let him sleep outside since everything annoys him anyhow. There he will have all the space he needs. Think I need a book to navigate through this years. I miss those sweet little faces that always longed to hug and kiss on you and snuggle next to you. Where does the time go? Maybe i will be a pro at this after this one has gone through the awkward years!
get this milk cap: http://www.squarejug.com i have one and use it. my costco here doesn’t have those stupid jugs 🙂
i only do pictures when we are home with the folks. i have a friend who is a photographer and get a f&f discount! plus we do group pictures.

I’ve had that happen to me with the quota limit. It basically means you’re running out of storage b/w apps, pics, video and music. My biggest issue was pics and videos. All you need to do is just back up all your pics and whatnot and clean up your phone a bit maybe delete some apps you don’t use and you should be fine. If you need all that stuff then you need to get more cloud storage. Hope that helps! Love your blog as always!!
My iPhone was telling me I had no space, and when I checked, it was Pinterest eating up my space. Apparently it’s a space hog, and needs to be deleted every once in a while to free up the space again. You could try that and see if it helps.
It would be common courtesy for two people to take the two person table and let a larger group take the larger table. That’s one of my pet peeves…people just don’t seem to have common courtesy in things these days.
They had those milk jugs at Sams club for a bit. I think they made them that way to save or help with shipping without the plastic milk crates. They stopped when people complained(it even made the local news) I was ok with them some spills but got better over time.(I think u need to tip them quickly)
I love the pita pit but I always get it to go. I have a problem with being in small crowded places and the pita pits around here are like shoe boxes.lol
The first year I was great with pics but then not so much.(I did every 3 months in studio) I used to be the one always taking pics(scrap booking) but then I realized I wasn’t experiencing it first hand. I put down the camera and since then all pics are on the phone and sometimes I even forget to take any. My 2nd lil one has just had those hospital one’s. I feel so bad about it.smh
I HATE those milk containers! Finally BJs ( the club, get your mind out of the gutter lol) out a sport on theirs. Yes, it’s easier for the STORES, but they SUCK!!! (Haha I said two naughty things in my post….I bet Jen will delete it)!
OMG, my phone has been doing the same thing and I am handling it exactly the way you are. Just ignoring it in hopes that it will go away!
Costco Milk!!! Before I go on and on about all the reasons (sanitary, environmental, etc) that shape of jug is better than the old one let me just share the tip I learned:
Do not pick up the jug and try to pour.
Keep it on the table and gently tip it toward the cup. It takes some practice but I haven’t spilled out of one of those things for months.
I usually pick the big table, but if there is someone who clearly needs it I switch with them. I remember when I was pregnant with my first child me and my husband were eating at at chick fil a and we picked a “table for four” because I prefer booths to the chairs. A minute or so into eating a woman with four young boys (like 8 and under) and a baby girl in a car seat carrier. The only seat left was a table for two and she was asking people for extra chairs to fit her kids around this table. A couple people let her take extra chairs. After about 30 seconds of watching this and seeing nobody moving I told her she was welcome to take our booth. She was so thankful you would have thought I had done some crazy act of kindness. She even had each of her sons say thank you to us. It surprised me not only that people didn’t notice/care, but how thankful she was. Here I was thinking I was doing the only proper thing a person could be expected to do in that situation. People just aren’t raised the same way I was I guess. Very sad.
When I was a photographer we would suggest portraits should be taken at birth, 3 mo, 6 mo, 9 mo, 1 year, 18 mo, and then yearly starting at 2 years. The first year represents so much developmental change. The second year is a lot more physical change and then after that once a year is fine. I finally had another photographer take my daughter’s portraits after she turned 2 and no became her favorite word, especially with me! Since she started school, I stick with the school pictures. I take plenty of other candid shots that really show her personality throughout the rest of the year.
I think you’re fine with the pictures. School pictures and the annual Santa pix every year were all we got growing up, with a professional family photo every 5 years or so.
Maybe separate the boys and put them in different rooms? Seems like they’re suffering from too much togetherness, or maybe it’s the weather like Ryan mentioned? Good luck!
The table thing is a big pet peeve of mine. I know everyone wants a booth but if you are at a restaurant that only has a couple of them then let a family have it. My other one along that same line is the people who go into chik-fila and sit in the booths/tables right next to the play area and they don’t have kids. At lunch I’ll give it to them since the place is packed but in the middle of the day there is tons of seating let me sit where I can watch my kid. Grr gets me going just thinking about it. LOL
I’ve been bad with pictures. We got Ns professional ones done all the time and so far C has had only 2 a family one for Christmas two years ago and then a mini Halloween one. I keep saying I need to take him to portrait innovations or something but we never make it there.
I’m with you on the two top four top business! That would seriously annoy me! And would so have given up my table for a family! RUDE!
I never get milk at Costco for the simple reason, we just don’t drink enough of it! My son has all of a sudden decided he does not like milk anymore and refuses to drink it! WTH? I LOVE milk, but I try not to drink it. I’ve half way converted to coconut milk. Long story.
No I only have one kid so my idea of photos might be different (Like too much? Idk). I’ve had his pictures done at birth, 6 weeks (and family pictures), 3 months, 4 months (Valentines day), 6 months (and Easter), 7 months (and mothers day), 9 months (and father’s day), 1 year, 18 months, 2 years, 2 1/2 years, 3 years, 3 1/2 years, 4 years and family pictures, 5 years, 5 1/2 years (for mother’s day with him, my mom and I), Kindergarten, 6 years, some of him and his dad, and I am about to take him to get his pictures done in his Kindergarten graduation cap and gown. Even tho that happened a few weeks ago… he was sick the day at school they had a professional photographer come take the pictures of them in their caps and gowns and I totally feel like I’m missing out now, so I’m going to take him myself! Lol….. I sound kinda crazy now that I read this all back to myself! (Oh, and he has been with my mom and step-dad with all their grand-kids to have photos, and my husband, his dad, and grand-parents for a four generation picture)! I’m a total sucker for ANYTHING photographs! I love them! I believe you can never have too many! (When he was a baby I took a picture of him every morning once he was dressed for the day sitting propped up on this same chair everyday for like 6 months). Call me crazy…..
Oh my goodness! I miss those Costco jugs so much! We had them in Cali, but not here in FL. They have a little angled edge on the bottom corner of the side with the mouth. It’s there so you can gently tip it forward at a 45 degree angle to pour it when it’s full. After you use part of it, it’s not hard to pour at all.
At some places (like Pei Wei or Panera,) I will take a 4-top for just two of us because I order lots of plates of things and physically need the space. Sometimes, the tabletop size is just as important as the number of chairs. That being said, if I’m at a 4-top that someone needs, and I and my stuff can fit at a smaller table, I will always move.
Note: when I say need the table space, I really mean it. Hubs and I usually end up with 2 appetizers, 3 entree dishes, and our 2 personal plates, drinks, etc. between the 2 of us at Pei Wei because we buy enough to have plenty of leftovers. We HAVE to have a 4-top or there is not enough room for the food. In this case, I would not, and could not, move to a smaller table.
I LOVE LOVE Costco milk! It tastes so good and the price is great! The trick comes when you open it. You know that little white and silver paper tab under the plastic cap? Only pull it back halfway, then leave it attached. Fold it backwards and keep it on there, under the plastic cap. This limits the milk flow.
Man, now I want Costco milk, and I am out of town.
