June The Little Book Club

My June The Little Book Club shipment finally arrived today! I am very patient with my subscriptions shipping late because I know things happen, but I this long delay even has me annoyed. I paid for this box on 5/26/13, the July box on 6/26/13 and was *this* close to getting billed for the August box before this one arrived. I can handle getting billed for the second month knowing that the first month is on it’s way, but this delay was too long even for my liking. I understand that they had some inventory issues, but I would have liked to see a refund be issued for my July box until the June one had shipped or a partial credit be issued or both boxes be shipped at the same time or something?

The Box

I got the shipping notification from Stamps.com on 7/11/13 saying my box would arrive in 7-9 days, but according to my tracking, it didn’t leave CA until 7/20/13.  But once it did start moving it got here fast.

First Look

I was so excited to finally get my hands on my box that I almost didn’t take a first look picture.  But I stopped myself before I got too far and snapped one.

The Information Card

My June The Little Book Club theme was “Sweets” and once again I did not have any of the books included.  This is one of the reasons I LOVE The Little Book Club because while we have 8 million books, we never have any of the ones they send.  I should mention The Little Book Club customizes the themes by age and I get this subscription for WB, who is 15 months.  L always enjoys the books too though.

Here’s what was included in the box:

~Cupcake by Charise Mericle Harper ($11.29): Aww, I love this book!  It’s about a vanilla cupcake who thinks he’s not as cool as all the fancy cupcakes around him.  I love this author and I love this book.  Why didn’t I have this before?  Love!!

~The Little Mouse, the Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear by Don Wood ($7.99): I totally remember reading this book and loving it when I was a kid and I can’t wait to read it to my kids!  I really need to go to a local bookstore and just browse the kids book section to see what I come up with.  I always have the kids with me when we do stuff like that and we end up with train and car books, which are good, but I think this is a classic!

~Little Pea by Amy Krouse Rosenthal ($11.98): Another totally adorable book that I have never heard of before!  It’s all about Little Pea who is forced to eat candy and sweets for dinner before he can get his hands on yummy veggies for dessert!  Love it!

All totaled I came up with a value of $31.26 for the June The Little Book Club, which is more than the $24.95/month cost of the box, even with using Amazon & Barnes & Noble prices.  I love love love the idea behind this service and love discovering all these new books monthly.  But I am not loving the long delays (there was an issue last month as well).  I am going to see what’s going on with my July box and see how long it takes to arrive and make a decision from there.  I *hope* this month was just a crazy issue and that things will get resolved, but only time will tell.
