How Long Is Your Morning / Getting Ready Routine?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
I’m always super curious about these things so today’s poll is all about how long it takes you to get ready. I’m not talking about special occasion getting ready, I’m just talking normal day to day getting ready. Can you be up and out the door in 15 minutes? Or do you need over an hour?

I can *usually* be up and ready in 15-30 minutes. I mean, if necessary I can do it more quickly, but if I need to shower and dry my hair, I need that time. And a normal day (if I am actually going somewhere) is BB cream and mascara, so that is easy. Of course, this doesn’t include the time it takes to get the kids ready, which is a complete game changer depending on the day. 99% of the time I could get them both up and ready in under 15 minutes as well (L basically gets himself ready but sometimes he needs a wardrobe consult), but every once in a while things turn into a hot mess and we just end up staying home!

But what about you? How long does it take you to get ready? And what’s your routine consist of in the morning?

I can easily take only 15 minutes or less, but if I want my hair and makeup to last through a 9 hour day, it’s 30 minutes. Oh, how I miss sleeping for those precious 15 minutes.

I too picked 15-30 min since that is my drop dead times. I like to take about 15min in the shower and then its about 15min to get ready. Of course I like to take my time so most mornings I get up and take a shower and then head downstairs for 20-30min to check email and watch some GMA before I head up and get ready and start motivating the rest of my crew. LOL N is my easy one. Did I tell you we bought one of those hanging things for the closet with the days of the week so on Sunday we are picking out his wardrobe so he just has to put it on each morning. It worked great last week and even this morning he came down with his little pile of clothes. C on the other hand is another story. I had a cute outfit downstairs for him this morning and he refused to wear it telling me he did not pick it out. So opinionated for a 2yr old. I think I might get him a closet hanger too and see how that works out 😉

If I add checking the news or some e-mail, it’s more like 45 minutes. Otherwise in 30 minutes I get up, use the bathroom, shower, moisturize, dress, put on contacts, put on some mascara and maybe some powder, make the bed, feed the cats, grab my breakfast and lunch out of the fridge and am out the door. I pretty much just comb my hair after the shower (no blow drying or products).

I race the clock in the morning. I am the worlds worst morning person. If all my stuff is ready for work the night before I can be up, in the shower makeup and hair done in 45 minutes. I usually keep makeup pretty simple for work. BB Cream, concealer, a neutral shadow & highlighter, mascara, bronzer and brow pencil with a smidge of gloss on the lips. (now that I list all of it that seems like a lot!) I have baby fine hair so it dries really fast. I have been a HUGE fan of the wave spray this summer. I basically spray it in and then scrunch it all the way to work in the car to create waves.

I’m not ready for Mackenzie to pick out her clothes. Erin lets her pick her shoes and I have to cringe sometimes. 🙂
It takes me 15-30 minutes for her and I to get ready. That’s not blow drying/straightening my hair though….that’s with curly hair. But that’s the easiest in the summer. 🙂
I can’t believe it used to take me an hour to get ready….that was before kids when I was working. 🙂

Mon-Fri I wake up at 6:40 and I’m out the door with my toddler at 7:40. I pack everything the night before (gym bag, and diaper bag for the lady who watches my son, and lunch). So it includes shower, and 10 minutes exactly to blow dry my hair… make up… getting dressed. Then getting my son dressed and out the door. I can do this half asleep and hardly thinking it’s sooo routine now. It’s not rare I put deodorant on twice or put conditioner in my hair twice because I can’t remember if I just did it. Hey better to do it twice than not at all!

I hate being rushed, so I get up 2.5 hours before I have to be at work, typically.

Mornings are my enemy. I’m the slowest moving person in the world in the AM, and do really well to get myself dressed and out the door most mornings.

If I’m washing my hair, I need half an hour to shower. Fortunately, I can’t wash my hair daily because I have dry hair and scalp so on non-wash days, my shower is 15 min. Post shower, my timeline converges; 15 min to moisturize, fix hair and take AM meds and 15 min for teeth, contacts, deodorant and getting dressed. Because it’s so humid here, I don’t put my makeup on until I’ve been in the car for at least 15 min so I’ll actually arrive 10-15 min early to my destination so I have time for that. My whole makeup process – BB or primer, mineral foundation and setting powder, mascara and gloss – takes 5 min.

When I write it all out like that, it’s really long – 65 min for hair wash days and 50 for non-wash. The reality is that I CAN be up and out the door in half an hour. I won’t lie and say I don’t roll out of bed some days, throw my hair into a bun and go to class. I try not too, but it happens.

Wow! Sorry that was so long! I guess I’d never thought about it in that much depth before. Great topic!

    Cheers,
    Shauna
