September bluum Box – “Brush Up”

In addition to my PopSugar Box, my September bluum (and a few others actually) showed up today! I never know what to expect from bluum, so I opened it right after I dug into PopSugar.

The Box

bluum ships via FedEx Smart Post and took 5 days to get to me from their facility in CT. It wasn’t suppose to arrive until tomorrow, but as always, I was happy to see it appear earlier than scheduled.

First Look

I was super excited by the first look because that frog looked adorable!  I usually try and check out what others have received in previous months for the “theme” for my month, but I didn’t get a chance to this month, so I was going in totally blind.

My September bluum theme was “Brush Up” which is the 21 month-old bluum box theme and was all about learning the basic rules of hygiene.  I mention it every month, but I think it’s important to note in case you stumble here wondering what you’ll get in your “Brush Up” box.  Although bluum uses the same themes for each monthly age group box (i.e. the 20 month-old box will always be “World of Colors”, the 19 month-old box will always be “Let’s Make Friends”, etc.), not everyone gets the same items in their box. The box contents will vary from month to month and I really don’t get it.  Sometimes two people will get the same theme in the same month and will get different items?  I’ve said it before, but it has to be very difficult to track something like this.

~Child’s Play Wally Whale Bath Book ($5.39): This is awesome for us because it combines two of Wb’s loves – reading and taking a bath.  He’s a total water baby and gets so excited to take a bath.  Love it!

~Plantlife Soft Cotton Bath Scrubby (Ramie Frog) ($4.50): Totally love this little frog scrubby and I know WB will too.  This is totally my favorite item in this month’s box.

~dreambaby Heat Sensing Bath Appliques ($14.99): I was totally shocked to see that these cost $15!  I’ve been meaning to get these but haven’t gotten around to it (I’ve meant to get some since L was a baby actually), so I am putting these in tomorrow.  More for the non-slip part than anything else.

~dreambaby Bath Toy Bag ($4.99): I have a few bath bags similar to this, but I an never get them to stick to the wall.  I hear there is some trick to it, so I might have to try it (after I google it and figure out what it is) and try this.

~One Step Ahead Foaming Soap Pump ($6.95): Please tell me I am not the only one who didn’t know that you could mix 4 parts water with one part soap, put it in a special container and get foaming soap?  Really?  That’s genius!  L likes foaming soap better than non-foaming soap but I have lots of non-foaming around the house I need to use up so this is awesome.

~Happy Tot Toddler Meal Bowls ($3.79): I’m going to save these for a bit until WB gets over wanting to eat everything with a fork.  This would be more spoon friendly for a kid and I know nothing would land in his mouth if I gave this to him now!

~Paper Culture Voucher ($25): I’m not going to include this in my value because from what I can tell, the minimum order at PC is over $25 – meaning you have to spend something to redeem it.  Also, I know they frequently offer these deals to new customers, so you don’t necessarily have to subscribe to bluum to get it.

All totaled I came up with a value of $40.61 for the September “Brush-Up” bluum box. I was quite happy with this box, but I have to admit, I was expecting to receive a toothbrush and toddler toothpaste when I saw the information card!

Did you get bluum this month?  What’d you think?  And what was your theme?  And if you are interested in subscribing or want to learn more, click here.  And someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the code “PAMPERS” still works for 50% off?

I had no idea you could make foaming soap that easily at home.

If you find out the trick to keep the bath toy bags up, please let me know!

That looks like a great box! When my daughter’s Citrus Lane subscription expires next month I might have to switch to this one. What would you say is your favorite (non-craft since she’s 2, haha) box?

My Mom reuses the bottles from Bath and Body Work foaming hand soap to make her own foaming hand soap.

That’s a good box! I haven’t been let down by Bluum yet and how cool that you can easily make foaming soap. Whaaaat?! lol

You will have to let me know how that soap foamer works. I just bought a giant thing of Episencial wash and want it to last for even longer with the boys. Maybe I can reuse a bath and body foaming handwash thing for the boys bodywash.

Does anyone know what the 22 month box theme is?

Just ordered this and citrus lane for my older son. He always likes giving me my ipsy and birchbox and likes to see what I get so time to get him his own! I also wanted to get him a crafty type of box, any suggestions?

Regarding the “trick” on the suction cups…I’ve tried them all and have finally given up on ever getting a bath toy bag to stick using them. Instead we use the clear Command strip hooks directly on the tile and hang the bags from them instead. They won’t slip and can hold a ton of weight. With the clear ones you don’t even notice them and if you want to remove them they won’t damage the tile. The Bluum box looks awesome, I may have to subscribe! I do the Birchbox and get soooo excited every month when it arrives! My little treat to myself. Enjoy your blog, keep up the good work!

Funny that you mention this because Santa brought a Boon Frog Pod thing for the bathtub and it has those command strips on the back. I was like is this safe? And then I saw this!
