September ipsy MyGlam Bag - "Classic beauty"
September ipsy Glam Bag – “Classic beauty”

My September ipsy bag appeared basically out of nowhere yesterday and while I wasn’t too excited about seeing it (I’d peeked at the spoilers), that pink bag in the mail always makes me smile.

The Bag

ipsy ships via DHL Global Mail. I have some other subscriptions that ship with DHL, but none seem to be as slow as ipsy.  I don’t know if it’s the hub they use or what?  I just ordered something from Julep who now uses DHL, so I look forward to seeing how long that one will take.

The Information Card

The September ipsy Glam Bag theme is “Classic Beauty” and is all about creating those looks from classic beauties have made us swoon from generation to generation.  Here is what my bag included:

~The Make-Up Bag:  I don’t even know how to describe this print (lacy floral maybe), but it’s not my favorite ipsy bag to date.

The Make-Up Bag

~Elizabeth Mott It’s So Big Volumizing Mascara ($8): This was probably my favorite item in the entire bag.  I love mascara and can’t think of many things better than a fresh tube of  mascara.  Something about those first few applications can’t be matched.

~Starlooks Obsidian Kohl Eye Pencil ($12): I could do without eye liner in subscription boxes for a few months!  I just can’t use them up fast enough so this is going to be passed on to a friend’s teenage daughter (who thinks it’s amazing when I send her boxes of make-up)!

~NYX Single Eye Shadow (Purple) ($4.50): I expected this to have some fancy name, but nope, it’s purple!  I was cracking up and I love it!  While I like the browns and the neutrals work the best for me, sometimes a purple is just more fun.

NYX Single Eye Shadow (Purple)

~skyn ICELAND Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels ($7.50): No wait, I’m not most excited about the mascara, I’m most excited about these!  They promise to firm, tone and de-puff under-eye skin within 10 minutes.  Yes please!  Ipsy has a 20% discount on this brand this month (the code is: IPSY) and I’m ordering more.

~J.Cat Beauty Fantabulous Lipstick ($2.49): This is also going into the giveaway pile except to my SIL who loves lipsticks.  I think she’s currently avoiding my blog because she doesn’t want to see PopSugar spoilers (she goes spoiler free), but I look forward to hearing her thoughts on this shade!

~Bonus / Referral Gift: NYX Bronze Smokey Look Kit ($12): This month’s referral gift (you can earn referral gifts after you collect 1,000 IPSY points which is equal to 4 referrals) is fabulous.  It’s my favorite of all the kits on their site.  I did have some trouble opening it (the problem was with me, not with the container), which explains the big gouge in the shadow.  Oops!

My September ipsy bag had a value of $34.49 (that doesn’t include the cost of the referral gift which would have brought the total to $46.49) and while I wasn’t in love with my bag, I didn’t hate it either and totally think it was worth the $10/month cost.  I do plan on tweaking (not to be confused with twerking) my profile because I don’t think I get items that best match me!  This butter london and / or the cailyn lip balm would have been right up my alley!
