Eeek! My September Made in Michigan Box arrived this week! As you may (or may not) know, I am from (and still live) in Michigan and I have been wanting someone to come out with an all Michigan box for ages.
Made in Michigan Box shipped via UPS and got to me very quickly. I mean first of all it was UPS and second of all it was shipping from a city only two hours away from me. The Michigan State duct tape was a nice touch as well (GO GREEN)!
The box was heavy and I really had no idea what to expect from it. I try to buy items that are made in Michigan when I can because, although things are getting better, Michigan businesses are hurting.
The September Made in Michigan Box had a “Back to School” theme and featured items for Breakfast, Snacks, Lunch and Supplies & Extras. Here’s what it included:
~Kellogg’s Pop Tarts (Breakfast) ($2): At first I was confused and was like what are Pop Tarts doing in here? But then it dawned on me, Kellogg’s is a Michigan company! I don’t buy Pop Tarts often so I think L is going to be pretty darn excited when he sees these in the pantry ;).
~mi Coffee (lake michigan morning blend) (breakfast) ($7.99): Mmm, coffee! I’ve seen this around but have never bought it. B’s already got a few bags open, but this is for sure going to be next to try.
~Velvet Company Peanut Butter (Lunch) ($3.50): I had no idea that Velvet was a Michigan company. No idea. Before I “retired” I used to visit all sorts of companies around Michigan (I was a “field examiner”) and I wish I would have gotten to visit them. I would totally love to check out their facility and see how peanut butter is made. I always loved going on plant tours to see how things were made.
~Kelloggs Nutri Grain Bars ($1): L and WB both love these and yep, since they are made by Kelloggs, they are made in Michigan.
~Pure Organics Snack Bar ($1): This isn’t a Michigan company, but was included since this is a mom owned business so it was included. Not my favorite bar out there, but not my least favorite either.
~Old Country Handmade – Goat’s Milk Soap (Citrus) (Supplies & Extras): I can’t find this online (boo), but it smells great and once I pick up a soap container / tin thing, I am going to start using bar soap. Or at least start trying it. Everyone says I am missing out.
~Moments to Sew Pencil Pouch ($6.50): I already have this in my new Phillip Lim bag! It couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. It’s super cute and made by a mom right here in MI!
~My First Mazes ($2.99): This is another Michigan company I was totally not aware of. L is all over this maze book and I am going to throw it in my bag for when he needs something to do in the car or at a restaurant.
~Michigan Postcard / Sticker: The box also included information about each of the products / companies in the box and a sticker and a postcard.
Including the soap (which I totally guessed at), I came up with a value of around $30 for the Made in Michigan Box. The box itself is $29/month (or $19/month if you sign up for a 6-month membership), so that’s right in line. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do in future months and am hoping that they include some items that are not only made in michigan, but items that are sold only in Michigan (or are harder to find out of state) to really showcase Michigan!
If you are interested in subscribing or want to learn more, click here! Right now, Made in Michigan Box is offering a buy three months get one free for a friend promotion. That’d get you four boxes (three months for you and one for a friend) for only $18.74 a month! Their website says that the offer expires soon, but doesn’t give an exact date.
AND, that’s not all, the lovely folks over at Made in Michigan Box are giving one of you guys their October box! All you gotta do is enter in Rafflecopter below and you’ll be set!
The goat’s milk soap looks interesting… I’ve lately been using bar soaps a lot!
this looks like a great amount of items! great gift for a Michigan transport or fan!
I live in Saint Louis and wish someone here would make a local box…or at least a Missouri one! Pretty cool that your state has one now 🙂
Me too Jean! It would be neat to discover fun, local things every month.
love this! I’m from Michigan too 🙂
I wish they made a box like that for my state. How cool!
Am loving all the regional boxes lately! And I love learning where brands I’m familiar with are from almost as much as trying new brands!
This is pretty cool!! I love all the different boxes that you discover!
I love this idea, and I live in Michigan! The potential for this box is endless! There are so many things made in MI.
Very cool! I agree that it will be neat to see what is featured in future months.
What a cute idea! I’ve only gone to Michigan for camping, but I have loved it every time.
This is an exciting box. I like receiving things from different states, in fact I have a collection started on shot glasses of each state (no not an alcoholic) just love the cute mini cups! Haha. I’d love to try out one of these boxes! Michigan seems to be filled w/amazing products, even familiar ones I never knew were from there! Kellogg’s is actually a staple in our home- from cereal to poptarts to protein drinks! 🙂
Since I grew up in Michigan and lived there up until about 3 years ago, I loved seeing this review 🙂 It makes me sad that Michigan is still hurting as my whole family lives there and my dad and husband are in automotive. No matter how far away I move, it will always be my home 🙂
Awesome! I wish each state had one!
I had no idea Kellogg’s was in MI either.
Yum!!! 🙂 PopTarts and NutriGrain Bars!!! Thank you for the giveaway!!
This seems like a really fun box to learn more about what fun stuff is made in your state. Stuff that you might not have known about too. Maybe more states will jump on the bandwagon
I’m seriously contemplating getting this. Living in Atlanta, I miss having things like faygo, country fresh and better made. Except if they’re going to put spartan tape on every month I’ll probably go ahead and pass… ??
This is awesome. A great gift idea to send to someone who is coming or has been to visit you in Michigan!
What a fabulous box!!! I would love to win it!!!
Fun prize, hope to win!
Sounds fun I agree with you though they should include smaller co exclusive from Michigan. Whenever I travel I like to find those little treasures. My husband laughs at me but I think its part of the traveling expierence! Sounds fun!
If there was a Los Angeles based box I would hop on it so fast. I love being able to buy things from your local community.
That coffee looks so good!
Oh I need to see if there is an NC box of course I don’t want Pepsi in there but hmm I know what I’m doing tonight. LOL

Im in Ohio, I wish we had a made in Ohio box!
Fun box!
My sis in law would love this!!!!!!! She is from Detroit and moved to the south about a year and a half ago. Such a culture shock for her! I know this type of box would make her homesickness much better.
All great, totally usable items – love the pouch!
Although I don’t live in Michigan, I am only a stone throw away in Ohio, just outside of Toledo. Close enough right???
I think Denver needs to get on the local box bandwagon as well!
