I’m linking up with Ashley and Neely today for another Sunday Social.
1. What is your dream job?
I’m not really sure I have one? Is that bad? I wouldn’t mind owning my own little business or something along those lines I suppose? I think in B’s dream world, we’d own a classic car restoration business, so I think I will go with that. I’d come visit him at his shop every so often and handle the bookkeeping end.
2. If you had just won the lottery and didn’t need to work for money, what would you do with your time?
Hmm, I don’t “work” now, but I let’s say I won the lottery (HA) and both kids were in school full time, leaving me with true free time. I would volunteer. Probably within the school district L is in because while it’s a great district, the class sizes are large and the teachers need help! I wondered to myself why L’s teacher said ideally she would like a parent helping out at daily. And then I realized that yeah, it would be a lot of work for one person to assist all those kids logging into computers and those types of things every day!
3. What piece of career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?
My field is currently being a SAHM (and blogging I suppose), but if I were giving advice out to new moms or new SAHM’s, I would suggest planning an activity out of the house every day. You know what makes for a long day? Never leaving the house! Even if you just get out and go for a nice walk or go to the park, do something! And if I were giving advice to someone in my previous career field or to someone just starting out, I would suggest finding a job close to home. Or if you love the job, move closer to it. Nothing will wear you down faster than a nasty commute. Ugh. I am stressed just thinking about all those hours I used to spend in traffic. Drove me insane.
4. What would be your ideal “just for fun” job?
Working at the fro-yo shop of course! That’d be fun. And yes, working at Target would also be fun for me. I’d like to work in the markdown department ;).
5. What was your first “real” job?
I worked at the Dairy Queen with all my friends when we were in high school. Not only did we get free ice-cream, we also passed out free ice-cream to half the school. It was the best.job.ever. It was basically like going to hang out with half dozen of your besties every night.
Does Ls teacher not have an assistant? We have full time assistants in kindergarten so our teachers have at least some help. Ns teacher hasn’t asked for helpers for other things yet but I think alot of that will come when we get back from track out. There are so many kinders in his school and each class is nearing capacity again so he’s up to I think 21 now. They can only have a max of 24 in each class here but his school has 9 classes. We are over 200 kinders. That is alot of 5 year olds. LOL
Is B a mechanic? My husband is! I don’t know if he’d like to have his own shop where he served the public though. If we won the lottery he’d build himself a GIANT garage and just work on his own cars all day, haha.
