I received orders from both thredUP and Moxie Jean yesterday and while I do place orders from them fairly often, I don’t blog about them much. So here goes:
I have SO been looking forward to this thredUP order because I was hoping one of the shirts I ordered would work for L’s school pictures (which are tomorrow). I bought five Ralph Lauren button down Polo shirts for $15.49 each, used a 20% off promotion code and had $10 in referral credit, so I paid $52 for ALL five shirts (shipping was free because I spent over $50).
thredUP says I saved 75% off retail price which is spot on since the retail price of these types of shirts is $59.50. Do I want to pay $59.50 for a shirt for my 5 year-old? Nope! But $11? Now, we’re talking! All the shirts I received were in perfect condition and after I throw them in the wash (they are clean but I wash again anyway) and iron them, they will be like brand new!! I couldn’t be more thrilled and am planning on having L wear the shirt on the top of the pile for pictures!
If you are interested in placing a thredUP order, you can save $10 off your first purchase using my referral link and I believe you can stack the new customer code of “RMN35” to save 35% off your first order at thredUP!
My Moxie Jean order included another button down Polo shirt for L ($10.99), a Polo sweater for L ($12.99), a Polo spring jacket for WB ($19.99) and a Polo shirt ($8.99). After my thredUP coupon code, the price on the button down shirt at Moxie. I haven’t been able to use a coupon code after I placed my initial Moxie Jean order, but that doesn’t mean it never happens! I just haven’t noticed one for existing customers.
My Moxie Jean order arrived FAST! Unlike thredUP who uses FedEx Smart Post (and they ship from CA), Moxie uses USPS Priority Mail and ship from IL, so my items always arrive fast!
If you want to sign up and start shopping with Moxie, you can use my referral link to save $10 off your $20 purchase!
So which one do I like best? Well than depends on who has what clothes at what time!!! I wouldn’t hesitate to order from either one and will totally be ordering again (probably sooner rather than later). I feel like I get more bang for my buck when I order higher-end brands like Ralph Lauren. I can get GAP or Target things super cheap during their end of season clearances (I buy in advance) or final sales, so unless it’s something I NEED, I stick with more expensive used things. It seems to be working out well and it always feel like Christmas when those packages arrive!
Have you shopped thredUP or Moxie Jean? What’d you get? Ever sent in a bag? If you want to check out my experiences in requesting bags and selling clothes to them, you can check them out here (thredUP) and here (Moxie).
Thanks for the review! I just ordered my sons school shirt from Moxie Jean. My youngest is 6 months so ThredUp doesn’t sell her size 🙁 I am excited to use ThredUp more so I can add on some stuff for myself. Have you done that yet? I always look but haven’t ordered any womens clothing yet.
That is a hell of a deal on the Ralph Lauren shirts! I have had a great experience with Moxie Jean both buying and selling. I have bought from thredUp and thought the prices were slightly higher but they have more available coupon codes. ThredUp is still processing my order of clothes that I’m trying to sell.
Hi Jennifer, those are such cute shirts you got for L! When my daughter was L’s age I was able to buy a lot of Ralph Lauren clothes for her at Marshalls. Have you ever tried looking there for L and WB?
Hi Jennifer! Since you mentioned that you hadn’t seen any coupon codes for existing customers at Moxie Jean, I wanted to just share our current coupon! In celebration of being voted “Most Awesome Online Consign, Swap or Recycle Site” by moms all over the country as part of the Red Tricycle Awards, we are offering 30% off all outerwear, including jackets, raincoats, vests, heavy coats, sweaters, sweatshirts and other fall essentials. Just use code “AWESOME” at checkout. And thanks for shopping at Moxie Jean!

I have both purchased from and sold things on Thred up. I’m very pleased with what I have purchased. I agree, the best deals are the expensive brands that are hard to justify full price but are fun to have at a deep discount. When sending clothes in, they are very very picky. If it isn’t in like new condition, has any stains or signs of wear at all they will not accept it (they don’t return it to you either, they donate it). You can ask them what they didn’t accept a piece and they will show you on a photograph what the problem is. I have learned from that though. If I have nice items that show a little wear I’m more likely to give them to a friend to make sure someone i know gets to enjoy them.
I just ordered mine at Thredup! I got a referral link of free $20 credit if someone is interested! http://www.thredup.com/r/K7JIWV
