It’s time for another edition of Tuesday Troubles. I’ve said it before, but this should be named “things i’m annoyed / confused / want to complain about”, however I couldn’t figure out how to make any of those into a snappy title, so Tuesday Troubles it is. And yes, I do realize that these aren’t true “troubles”. I know that many of these for sure could be defined as first world problems!
~This may be one of strangest Tuesday Troubles ever, but when you are outside have you ever noticed that you see different colors out of your eyes? Like I’ll close one eye and the sky will be one shade of blue and then I’ll switch eyes and the sky will be a different shade of blue? Could I be explaining this any worse? Just go outside and open and close one eye at a time. I know you are trying it right now, so tell me, do you see different colors like that? Or do you just think I’m nuts? Because I have kind of wondered if it’s just me??
~I kind of forgot about this, but B and I are headed to Chicago (and alone at that) in a few weeks. We are only staying the night, but I’d love restaurant recommendations! Nothing too crazy fancy. Just some nice(ish) places that are on your Chicago must visit list.
~I am (still) quite annoyed with this government shutdown. It really pushes my buttons that the two parties won’t even talk to each other to negotiate and are acting like it’s a just some game. Umm, hello? Someone is going to have to talk to someone sometime! Do other countries every just shutdown their government like this? Or is it just us???
~L has finally made up his mind and has decided he wants to be a vampire for Halloween. He’s changed his mind at least a half dozen times (zombie, batman, monster, the hulk, etc.), but this is it! Now I need to know where is the best place to get a kids costume?? Clearly I am too late for like a Zulily deal or whatever, so where do I do? I love Chasing Fireflies, but it is so $$$!!
~Do you ever see a character on a show that used to be on a different show and just can’t seem to accept that it’s a different character. Like I liked Breaking Bad. And the actress that played Marie is now on that new “The Michael J. Fox” (I also don’t like when shows are named after people – I don’t quite get that since the character is Michael Henry not MJF) show and all I can think of is “why is Marie married to Michael J. Fox” and “why isn’t she wearing purple”.
That’s it from here for now! What’s troubling you today?
Will Arnett will always be Gob from Arrested Development to me!
LOL sometimes you crack me up! I just tried the eye experiment and I see the same, granted I am not outside because I’m stuck in a big office building but I did look out the window…. Maybe you are slightly colorblind in one eye? My Dad is colorblind and he just sees all colors different than I do..
As far as Chicago goes (I love Chicago!) I don’t know the area too well but I was there this summer visiting my sister who was in Business school at Northwestern and we went to a couple AWESOME restaurants.. My favorite was “Gemini Bistro” but it is not right downtown/gold coast area, it is in the Lincoln Park area (which is so beautiful to walk around in!) so if you are up that way for some reason I would highly recommend it, it’s a super cute little corner restaurant with sidewalk tables.. LOVE!

If you are looking for something fun and “cool” for a nice romantic dinner for just you two, we had dinner at this Asian Fusion restaurant called “Sunda” I have been told that it is definitely very “sceney” (whatever that means?) I guess famous people eat there often and it has a good reputation. It is kind of pricey but definitely a fun experience the decor inside was really neat (although it was a little loud but I don’t mind music) the food was all AMAZING, seriously amazing. I had sushi and a Chinese style dish as well as ridiculous drinks and apps! It was definitely a splurge but a ton of fun!
You don’t have crazy eyes, mine do the same! lol
You could try party city, spirit Halloween stores, or even your favorite store ever target for a vampire costume 🙂
Mercadito in Chicago if you like Mexican food. SO GOOD! And it’s nice! You can look at the menu online.
Chicago pizza and over grinder company on Clark! You need to try it
For a quick meal you have to try Protein Bar or Pret. Protein Bar is a Chicago original and with B being into running and healthy stuff it is amazing. Many of the locations do breakfast and it is AMAZING! Pret is another of my favorites and once again, quick eats. I would compare both to Chipotle prices and convenience. For something a little special I would suggest Perennial Virant. Lincoln Park area and the chef is awesome. You can make a reservation on open table for added convenience. If you are looking for something extra extra special you can always go with Graham Elliots restaurant or one of the molecular gastronomy places but those are going to be quite pricey. Have Fun. Love living here!
Check Amazon for costumes! I love Amazon so dearly. Especially since I’ve been having a ton of issues with Zulily lately, uggh. I think L will make an adorable, I mean very spooky ;), vampire!
Every day I hear something more that enrages me about this shutdown. Like is shutting down the Amber Alert really necessary?! Withholding military death benefits to widows and families? Ugh.
I’m with you on certains hows/actors. Like Charlie Hunnam. I’m glad to see him in 50 Shades of Gray … but all I can picture is greasy haired Jax Teller … and not some well-to-do suited up businessman.
I can’t stand that ‘Jason’ from PLL is on a new sitcom…or he was a guest or whatever! He will always be Jason. Also when people from older shows come on new shows. Can’t get past that either.
Chicago restaurants, we want to try Big Little’s (they’re nothing fancy) but, the food looks amazing!
iCream (not sure if it’s spelt like that, but they have amazing ice cream and it’s set up like a cold stone but supposed to be better!
My B and I are thinking of taking a mini-vacation to Chicago in the beginning of the New Year. I have never been and have a ton of restaurants there that I want to check out (unfortunately, the pricey sort). And Chicago deep dish pizza. Really, I just want to see snow again. I look forward to hearing about where you go!
Nathan Fillion will always be Captain Mal (Firefly) and I can’t watch him in Castle.
I love to eat at XOCO whenever I go to Chicago. Get the churros with a shot of chocolate! Yum!
I’m so confused about the government shut down. Don’t you just talk back to the news. I find myself doing that, back-talking the tv. Come on! Get it together. Work together. yadda yadda.
I’m thinking about all the stuff I need to get ready for the fall. I noticed in Martha Stewart’s magazine – she even schedules when to change her flannel sheets for fall. I don’t think I’m that organized, but I *aspire* to be that organized. I would love to have all the outdoor stuff put away, and garage ready for cars coming in/out with snow… all before snow. Not to mention we a huge free sale in town, and donate all the stuff you are done with for local mom’s. Kids toys, kid clothes, if they are good enough to trade to a girlfriend, they are good enough for the free sale. Getting all the toys/rounding up basically everything you can think of for a garage sale is what it seems like (garage sale is WAY WAY more work)…
That is so funny you say that about your eyes and the different shades of color! Mine do the same and I was just doing this earlier today!! ( closing one eye and opening other and noticing the difference in color!!) 🙂
I used to watch the Cosby Show like crazy. It wasn’t until I got much older that it struck me how odd it was that it was called the Cosby Show, yet the family in the show was the Huxtables??? lol
I’m going to have to test out this different color /eye thing.
Also I have quit reading about the shutdown I’m just so over and them acting like children.
Please eat at Volare in Chicago. It is the best italian just a block or two off Michigan Avenue. It may or may not require a reservation, depends on the time of day. Try the risotto. It is to die for. Seriously you must try it.
I love Chicago! Have fun!
