Monday Morning Ramblings

~First of all, Happy Veteran’s Day to those who have served and are now serving. B has the day off, L has school and my mom is watching WB for a few hour so B and I are off on a “day date”. I am very much looking forward to it. And maybe, just maybe, there will be some time to get some chores done later too. We’ll see.

Flashback Monday
Flashback Monday

~I recapped most of our weekend yesterday and my Advocare Spark deal thing, but this weekend also included us almost losing Buddy at like midnight on Saturday (I don’t know what he was doing but he came back looking super guilty), the dishwasher breaking and me having to do dishes by hand (#firstworldproblems) and B giving the dogs a bath with my expensive body wash (so they would “smell good”).

~No mail today (boo), but UPS and FedEx still deliver today so there will be some boxes coming! And I have a few reviews scheduled for later as well, plus a giveaway so things won’t be totally boring around here today ;). And I am expecting lots of boxes this week, including Birchbox, Bonjour Jolie, Lip Factory, PijonBox, Poochpax, November PopSugar Must Have Box, PopSugar Neiman Marcus Must Have Box and a few more I can’t think of off the top of my head!

~This may be more of a Tuesdays Trouble issue, but I am wondering about it NOW.  How does everyone keep their Christmas gifts hidden away until Christmas?  I feel like I am going to forget who I bought what for.  Is it crazy to make a spreadsheet?  Should I wrap them up now and put labels on them?  Too early?

~While at Sephora yesterday (picking up some gifts with my 20% off VIP coupon), I randomly grabbed this Soap & Glory A Great Kisser Lip Balm in Peppermint and I am in love.  You need to get this while it’s available.  I am serious.  Stop what you are doing and order. Or better yet, go to Sephora. I am getting more asap.

~I know it’s early in the season, but I am just not loving Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.  I need more Brandy and less everyone else.  I loved how she was asking for prices on everything last week when she was furniture shopping and Yolanda did.not.care.

~And finally, it’s suppose to snow today and I am like a kid on Christmas morning.  I think it’s going to be like a dusting, but still.  The kids are going to go insane!  Bring it winter!

~That’s about it from here this morning.  What’s going on for you this week?  And how was your weekend?

Spread the love

I have a workable list on my phone for Christmas gifts. I have ideas listed for each person and as I buy things I mark them off. So I totally don’t see a problem with you creating a spreadsheet. Right now all of the gifts I’ve purchased are hidden in a box in the basement although I do have some random things upstairs too. I don’t like to wrap the gifts too early but I have a friend who totally does. If you find her stash, everything is already wrapped and labeled.

    1. Jennifer

Okay. I’m making a spreadsheet tonight! It’s getting crazy. I have so much stuff piled away!!

  2. Leanne

ohhh get the boxes! I need to live vicariously through you until I get home to mine! Also, I’m super excited about that lipbalm you posted for some reason – i need to get me some! Also, thanks to your husband for serving! Happy Veteran’s Day!

    1. Jennifer

Thank you for serving!!! I can’t wait till you get home and get all your boxes!!!

  3. Haley

Totally random this morning, but thank you for posting your blog for the day nice and early! I always read my blogs at work, and of course I have some down time at the beginning of the day and it’s so nice that yours is always updated =)

    1. Jennifer

thank you!! I do try to be consistent!

  4. Glenna

I always make a gift list of ideas and mark what I bought. I try to wrap as I go, and I have 3 big bins in the basement for gifts: our house, my parents house, and my in laws house. Just load the bin in the car, and we’re good to go! And I label gifts to my parents “from G, B and S” and gifts to B’s parents “from, B, G and S” just in case they get mixed up. It can be confusing having lots of things labeled “To: Mom” and this helps me know who it is for at a glance 🙂

    1. Jennifer

You are on it!!! Great ideas!

  5. Amy S.

I wrapped up my gifts & labeled them. I’ve had them all ready to go for about two months. Thanks to subscription boxes I haven’t had to purchase one single item!

    1. Jennifer

      Wow!! That is impressive!!

  6. Jessica

I use spreadsheets for everything! It is super helpful keeping track of Christmas presents and birthday presents. I also do them for food served at parties that way I know if I had enough or need to get more for the following year (also what food was popular and what food can be deleted from the menu.) I might be borderline OCD with my need to be organized but my spreadsheets haven’t failed me yet lol.

    1. Jennifer

      I need to do this!!

    2. Jennifer

Storing it is hard!!! I think I need to reorganize some things and start putting them all in one place.

  7. Melissa Bean

I have an Ikea bookcase with 16 cubes. Each cube has a fabric drawer. Each drawer holds gifts/wrapping supplies. I keep a list of what is in each cube so it is semi organized…I think they are harder to store wrapped & then if they are found, you have to explain why Santa brought them early!

I just added the lip balm to my cart 🙂

    1. Jennifer

      You are so organized!!!!!

  8. Tiffany

I’m really excited you posted that lip balm too! i totally need to try that! Do they have it online?

    1. Jennifer

They do! I think I linked to it in the post. I love it!

  9. Alison

I use a spreadsheet every year for Christmas – and then that way I can look back on previous years! I also have things shipped to my parent’s place, and then the gifts for them shipped to my place – so people don’t see the boxes that are for them. I haven’t wrapped anything yet. I hide things in pillow cases in the back of closets hahaha – that’s probably weird, but they’ve never been discovered that way!

    1. Jennifer

I think to start I need to move all my stuff to a central location!!

  10. Jill

I totally have a Christmas gift spreadsheet! I list everyone I have to buy for, then ideas for them are in red and stuff I have already bought is in black. I keep track of how much I spend too, just so I can see at the end what kind of hit we took. LOL

    1. Jennifer

      You are all so organized!!

  11. Jessika

Just last week I pulled out everything I was hiding for Christmas wrote down who got what. I even warped a few (not a lot just a few big things) because I was running out of room to hide things and I was forgetting what I had and what I still need to buy. I have a big family to buy for and very little storage space.

Thanks B for your service to our country! We appreciate you and all the other Current and past that served this great country. Enjoy your day 🙂 – but it should be a year around celebration for the sacrifices you and your families give.

    1. Jennifer

      Thank you!

  13. Stephanie

When it comes to presents and gifts I have an entire shelf in the basement dedicated to them. I have a spreadsheet I created and just write in what I bought for someone. I also attach post-its with the person’s name and holiday (birthday or x-mas). I also have a running list of things I have bought for S and when he will be given them like Easter, Valentine’s Day, etc. Then I have a shelf of misc. gifts for surprise birthday parties, etc. My mom and sisters tend to come shop in my basement for gifts.

    1. Jennifer

So organized!!!! I need to get started on a spreadsheet!

  14. Christine Fortes

Your oldest looks just like your husband in that picture of him in his uniform. Twins!

    1. Jennifer

B was so young there! I can see it!

  15. Meagan

Thank you to your hubby for his service! I hear so many stories of people who don’t get thanked and I think it’s just a travesty.

As for Christmas. I have 2 boxes for my kids I’ve been throwing their gifts and stuffers into their own boxes. I’m just waiting for everything to come in and as it does I’m wrapping it and tagging it starting tonight (can’t put bows on until the last second because our cats steal them) and I’ve been filling their stockings as I buy stuff so I know how much more to buy. My honey is the one that is a snoop. I don’t know what the heck I am going to do with his stuff. I plan on being done with everything before December so I can actually focus on baking and enjoy this year.

    1. Jennifer

I will thank him! He’s always been treated very well!

I am a snoop too. Whenever B gets me something I hound him for clues!!

  16. Chelsea

I use a spreadsheet! I keep track of who is getting what, how much I spent, and how much I saved on each item! It’s like a contest with myself to see if I can get more gifts for less money than I spent the past year. My gifts are all wrapped and labeled– did that yesterday and today actually 🙂

    1. Jennifer

Did you want to come over here and help me wrap mine? LOL!!!

  17. Jessica

I use a cute notebook and have a page for each person on my list (it is a smaller notebook that fits in my purse). I write down ideas and cross off when I buy it and write where I got it from and the cost, in case I find it cheaper somewhere else. Then, in my basement hiding place, there is a tote for each kid and then a tote for family and a tote for friends gifts.
I like to wrap early but never do! This year I am doing all gifts, except the kids, in brown paper that I will have the girls put their handprints on the package and use a cute ribbon. Then I only have to buy one type of paper!
I am getting excited for the holidays but I have some shopping still to do!

    1. Jennifer

Cute ideas!!!! I love that you are having your girls personalize it!

  18. Alicia Altman

I make a spreadsheet!! TOTALLY helps and keeps me organized and on budget! I keep all the past years on different tabs in Excel cause I like to look back on what I bought previous years. I’m an Excel dork though 😉

    1. Jennifer

I love it! I need to get on this train.

  19. Mackenzie

I do a spreadsheet too! I keep it like a running wish list, crossing out things we’ve received and always adding. We use it for birthdays and Christmas and sometimes random holidays throughout the year. I also wrap most of our gifts as soon as I get them home, so nobody can peek! It’s always a big surprise for me too, when they open it on Christmas and I forgot what I wrapped 3 months ago. 🙂 I started my “system” 3 years ago and it has simplified my life tremendously around this time of year.

    1. Jennifer

I think I love your system. You should come over and implement one at my house.

  20. Ashley H

Whaaaaatt? I love RHOBH so far. And it’s only going to get better says the previews lol. Although I think I’m loving Vanderpump Rules more this season. And I have a Christmas notebook where I keep track of what I bought who and where I hid it. 🙂

    1. Jennifer

      I didn’t watch tonight’s show yet. Was t good??

      1. Ashley H

I haven’t seen it yet either. It’s on my DVR waiting for me. Much easier to watch when the kids are in school!

        1. Jennifer

Agreed! I plan to watch today at nap time.

  21. Nicole

I have a “note” on my phone along with a spreadsheet. I like to be able to look back and see what and how much I spent on people the year before.

    1. Jennifer

Good idea! I had no idea everyone was so organized!

  22. Mrs. L

So I’m not the only one who uses a spreadsheet for Christmas gifts? We have to mail families gifts out so it’s much easier to keep track of what’s bought and what’s been mailed. Plus, I have a notes section on my phone where I add “ideas” throughout the year (say a family member mentions they like Jasmine scent…it gets added to the notes under their name so when the holidays come around I have an idea of what to get someone).

    1. Jennifer

Please come over and organized my life.
