Taste Trunk, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly subscription box offering 5-10 4-6 products, discount coupons, backgrounds on the companies and amazing recipe ideas from one of four themes, including Gourmet, BBQ, Healthy and Sweet. Brands and items are hand selected and trunks are only $34.99/month ($29 + $5.99 shipping) $35/month. Since I have previously reviewed the BBQ and Gourmet Trunks, I opted for the Healthy and the Sweet Trunk (stay turned for that review) this time.
Taste Trunk ships via USPS. My boxes came together in one larger box, which explains the lack of a shipping label. B was home yesterday for the unboxings and really wanted to be the one to open this (I let him).
Taste Trunk packs everything very very nicely and I’ve never even had the slights concern about something arriving open or broken. It might not always look pretty, but it’s safe.
Taste Trunk includes information cards about the items in the box. I only received information cards for about half of the items so I’ll have to wing it on the rest. Here is what the box included:
~Thoughtful Food Giddy Up & Go Granola ($2.18): I am throwing these in with the hoard of Halloween candy the boys collected to remind me to STOP eating that candy. I have had this granola before and while it’s not candy, it is good. And won’t make my stomach hurt after eating it.
~Bountiful Pantry Farmhouse Chowder ($8.50): I am very excited to make this chowder. It seems SO easy and looks totally delicious. I am thinking about adding sweet potatoes to it to make it a little heartier too. This is happening when B is gone this weekend for sure!
~Coconut World Organic Coconut Jam ($8.19): It’s suggested that you use this as a fruit dip, spread for crackers, etc. and I was like yeah, I’m not so sure about that. But then I flipped the card over and there was a recipe for Coconut Jam & Banana Bars. Now I’ll give that a go. And if they are awful, at least I tied something new right?
~I heart keenwah Cranberry Cashew Quinoa Cluster ($4.99): This is certainly not something I would pick at the store, but they aren’t bad either. Just not for me really. B will like them though.
~Nibnaks Snacks ($4): I have never seen or heard of this brand before. Their snacks are designed to give you increased energy and help your digestive system stay in tune. I am going to send these off with B for the weekend (he has drill).
~Nunes Farms Sweet Chipotle Almonds ($1): Another total perfect snack item for B for this weekend. I’m not sure if they will be “in the field” eating MRE’s or having actual hot meals, but he’ll be happy about these.
~California Crunchies Maui Onion Almonds ($1): I didn’t realize that these were the same brands at first or I would have included them in the same picture. No matter. These are sliced almonds which makes me like them better. I can’t explain it, but it’s true.
~Uncle Lee’s Tea Assortment ($4): Some people love tea. Some people (me) don’t. I am putting this away for my next tea box for my cousin. She’s trying not to drink coffee (Dr.’s orders) and I think I’m helping her cause with all this tea.
All totaled I came up with a value of $33.86 for the October Healthy Taste Trunk! Trunks are $34.99/month ($29 + $5.99 shipping) $35/month so this came in slightly under the trunk value. Then again I didn’t include shipping or tax on any of these items and I’ve never heard of many of these items, which is the point of a service like this.
