Taste Trunk, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly subscription box offering 5-10 4-6 products, discount coupons, backgrounds on the companies and amazing recipe ideas from one of four themes, including Gourmet, BBQ, Healthy and Sweet. Brands and items are hand selected and trunks are only $34.99/month ($29 + $5.99 shipping) $35/month. Since I have previously reviewed the BBQ and Gourmet Trunks, I opted for the Healthy (you can check out that review here) and the Sweet Trunk this time.
Taste Trunk ships via USPS. My boxes came together in one larger box, which explains the lack of a shipping label. B and I opened these boxes together on Halloween and he was all into it. He must have been hungry or just missed opening boxes with me.
Everything was all neatly packaged and securely wrapped. I get questions sometimes about if subscription boxes come with a packing slip of some sort with a price on it. People who send them as gifts obviously want to make sure they don’t have prices or any of that included in the box. Taste Trunk and 99% of subscription boxes I have received do NOT come with a packing slip with prices. The only box I can think of off the top of my head that comes with a packing slip is Fancy Box.
Taste Trunk’s information cards include both product information and recipes / suggestions on how to use the products included. The cards are wrapped in an old school newspaper advertisement type bag and are neatly tied.
Here is what we received in the October Sweet Trunk:
~Cake. Coconut Macaroons (~$10): I can’t find a price for these online, but I am going to guess $10. I am not a huge macaroon fan in general, so if I ended up at this bakery I probably would never buy macaroons to begin with. That said I know a lot of people LOVE them and they were good. Just not my first choice at a bakery.
~CiCi’s Homemade Italian Butterhorns ($9.99): These are totally delicious. Oh my goodness are they good. I cannot even imagine how good they would be if they were warm, but I would like to find out someday.
~Wooden Table Baking Co. Alfajores Traditional ($5.50): I have never heard of an alfajor before, but according to the information card they are a traditional Argentine pasty made of two shortbread-like cookies joined with dulce de leche (milk candy). OMG these are delicious too. I could do without the coconut they are rolled in, but even with that they are amazing!
~Torie & Howard Organic Hard Candy ($8.99): Even B knows how much I like these hard candies and when he saw the box (which is adorable) he was like “LOOK WHAT YOU GOT”! Of course we both tried some right away. And I put some in my pocket for trick-or-treating. So good.
~CC Made Sel Gris Caramel Sauce ($12): We have not had a chance to try this yet, but I am ready for it to happen. B will be home tonight from his trip and I’m going to pick up some vanilla ice-cream so we can have a fun treat. It even looks good in the jar. Come home early B!
All totaled I came up with a value of $46.48 for the October Sweet Taste Trunk! Taste Trunk is $34.99/month ($29 + $5.99 shipping) $35/month, but you can save 25% off your first trunk with the coupon code “suburbanmom25“! I think that this was my favorite Taste Trunk to date! So many new goodies to discover in this one. And of course, one old favorite!

I’ve gotten all those items in previous Sweets Taste Trunk boxes and loved them all! I’m not usually a huge macaroon fan either, but I really loved the brand they included. I switched to the Gourmet Taste Trunk this month, I hope I don’t regret it!
Let me know what you get this month!
I’ve sworn off subscriptions for a bit (trying to save up for vacation!), but oh man is this one temping! I’m thinking of dropping all but PopSugar and Skoshbox, but maybe I need to think about one of these!
You did want a sweets kind of box didn’t you?
I’m looking more for a box that has a mix of stuff. I have snacks (Skoshbox). I’d like something that has more than just snacks and sweets (maybe bbq sauce or farro or a dip mix etc), maybe a bit of everything food groups (probably why I like Popsugar).
Like fancy food box if they just sent food?
