It’s time for another Thursday Thoughts! If you are participating in this Thanksgiving Edition of Thursday Thoughts make sure to throw your link in below. I’ll be making my normal rounds later in the day to visit / comment and see what everyone is thinking about today!  And if you want to participate, but have no idea what a link-up is, you can check out my explanation of it here.

~First of all, Happy Thanksgiving! Whatever you do today, whoever you are celebrating with, I hope you have a great day! And if you are working today, THANK YOU! Since we don’t eat until later, I’ll be spending my morning with the little boys watching the parade and reading the sale papers. B is running a 5K and a 10K, so he’ll miss some of our fun.

~I’m not going to do the traditional What I’m Thankful on Thanksgiving post, but I of course I am thankful for my little family, our health, the furries, shelter and food, a warm bed, amazing lip balm, you know the drill!  And, of course, all of you!!!  Seriously, you all rule, but you probably already know that ;).  And these boys?  To say I am thankful would be an understatement.  I am so lucky ;).

~The Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals keep rolling in and as soon as they go live or are officially released by the companies, I am posting them here.  I’ll also be doing more recap posts like I did yesterday, but they will ALL end up in the Black Friday tab first, so make sure to bookmark it!

~After the fun ends today, B and I have some work to do the next three days! Sunday is December 1st which means that I need to get all 24 of my books wrapped for the “Advent Calendar” I do and of course I need to decorate for Christmas!!!  We also need to get a tree (we get a real one), but I’m not sure when that’s going to happen.  I wonder this every year, but if you get a real tree, how long does it usually last?  L wants to cut down a tree this year (instead of just buying one from a tree lot), so it’s probably going to have to happen on a weekend.  Next weekend would be the obvious choice, but B has National Guard stuff so that’s out.  Can we do it this weekend?  Too early?

~Totally random, but I highly enjoyed this article on the Top 10 Craziest Kanye West Radio Quotes on tooFab.com.  I think the best part is that these are just the top ten from THIS week.  Ha!!!  My cousin went to his show in NYC this week and said he went on some crazy rant there too basically about what a genius he is.  I’m not clear if he’s serious or just likes people to talk about him or just likes to listen to himself talk or what, but I just can’t with him!

~I’m still expecting a few subscription boxes to appear this week including Birchbox Man, PijonBox and Wantable.  I also should have a few Fancy boxes (Jennifer Love Hewitt & Tyler Florence) coming, but those probably won’t come until next week.  And I am still behind on a few reviews (Carnivore Club, Spicy Subscriptions, this week’s Plated and Project DIY).

~I posted a picture on Instagram last night, but I got my Style Box of Joy last night from USPS!  I posted about it back in September and it was one of those things that you signed up for and weren’t totally sure if you’d ever get anything, but as promised it appeared.  It included two Neutrogena Lip Glosses, SOHO Beauty Bag, Sony/RED CD, Rembrandt Intense Stain Dissolving Strips, Rembrandt Intense Stain Toothpaste, Harper’s Bazaar Fashion: Your Guide to Personal Style book and other assorted samples and special offers. Not too bad for a FREE box!  If I hear of them doing anything like this again I will for sure post (this offer is LONG) gone.

That’s it for now!  What’s on your agenda today?  When’s dinner?  And what are your plans for the rest of the weekend?  Shopping?  Getting those decorations up?  Watching football?  Tell me all about it!

Spread the love

If you are going to cut your own tree it is going to last longer than if you bought it off of a tree lot. But you need to make sure you keep watering it every other day or so. If you don’t, it could dry out and become dangerous (i.e. fall over, become a fire hazard). My brother and I always went with our dad to cut our tree on a Sunday morning right after Thanksgiving. We had a tradition where we would go with him to the little doughnut shop in town early in the morning and get fresh doughnuts, coco, and juice, and then we’d make our way to the farm to spend the whole day picking the perfect tree. Then we would go home and decorate it while eating chicken noodle soup and watching “Holiday Inn.” That is one of my favorite childhood memories! Just think, soon your children will have their own Christmas memories from you and your husband!

We used to go cut down our own tree too when I was little and we’d always eat lunch at the same little place and go into little tiny little gift shop. It was fun.

I have actually had my real tree fall over a few times. LOL!!!! Ornaments and water everywhere. Oops!

We always cut our tree down Thanksgiving weekend and leave it in a bucket of water outside or in the garage until we’re ready to put it up. It always lasts until after the new year!

I never thought about that? It’s cold here so I don’t see why we couldn’t just leave it outside?? I mean the trees at the tree lots are precut??

I got my Style Box of Joy as well and I love it! I feel lucky that I was quick enough. I wonder what was in the original Box of Joy that was given out a week or so before this one. I wasn’t quick enough for that one 😉

I feel like I know this?? I recall seeing a picture and thinking it wasn’t as good as this one??

Happy Thanksgiving! We went out to dinner, and I’m now putting together a gameplan for tomorrow’s shopping spree. Not sure yet what time I’ll head out, but probably before dawn. Hubby thinks I’m crazy, but I’m determined to snag a JC Penney snowglobe and I don’t know what the demand is because this is our first year in a new town!

Happy Thanksgiving to you! I hope you get it!!
