Montubox, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a brand new monthly subscription box full of activities for kids ages 4 to 9 such as hands-on projects, arts and crafts, puzzles, and an educational book. The first Monutbox sends is a welcome box, which I received, while boxes the following months have their own unique theme (examples: The Animal World, Space & Plants, Transportation, and Weather)
Montubox ships via UPS and took just about under a week to arrive to me. I don’t think I have ever gotten a box wrapped like this, but I don;t mind because the box under it is going to be perfect to store stuff / regift!
Since Montubox is so new, I had no clue what to expect. I was surprised at how big the box was and thought the first glance was fabulous!
Since this was our first Montubox, we received the Welcome Box, which doesn’t have a monthly theme. This box is a for Boys 4-6 (L is 5) and included the following:
~Planet Earth Book ($4.99): Totally up L’s alley. There are lots of great pictures and information without being crazy overwhelming. He loved looking through it and we took it to his room instead of putting it with the rest of his books because he wanted to look through it more! Inside the book was a ruler bookmark, which I totally spaced on taking a picture of. It’s a skull though, which L thought was cool.
~Toolbox (~$5): This is to store all the materials you will be receiving from your Montubox every month! Both kids loved this. L because it’s for his stuff, and WB because he could carry it around all on his own.
~Melissa & Doug Foil Art ($7.99): I didn’t think there was a Melissa & Doug product I didn’t have, but this is one! It’s looks so fun and I totally wanted to do it right away last night, but I am putting it away for a rainy day. You know, one of those days where ALL you hear about is how there is nothing to do, how no toys are fun, etc. THIS will be fun!
~Caeco Fuzzy Puzzle ($6.99): I think this might be a little young for L, but he will totally do it regardless. And then I will put it away for WB who I think is going to enjoy puzzles just as much as his big brother.
~Melissa & Doug Cut-Crease-Create ($2.99): I didn’t know that this existed either! M&D suggests them as a Party Favor, which I think would be a great idea too. This one is going to be a rainy day activity as well!
~Scissors ($2): The first box also includes scissors, which are needed for lots of things Montubox will be sending.
All totaled I came up with an (estimated) value of $29.96 for the Montubox Welcome Kit. Boxes start at $34.95/month, so the value isn’t incredible, but I loved the curation for an older child who doesn’t just want all craft materials. I will be watching this to see what they do in future months because it’s something I can see L really enjoying.

To bad I am maxed out on sub boxes this looks like a great one!
I am looking forward to seeing what they do in future months!
Just wondering of all the kid boxes you get which one is your favorite (for say a 2 -3yo age group?)
Ahh, that’s so hard! It all depends on which month it is to tell you the truth! It varies between Googaro, Stork Stack, Citrus Lane and Silly Rhino!
Those are two M&D that I don’t have either. Both look awesome.
Don’t they???
Have you received any more orders of Montubox? I was wondering what you thought of them as I’m looking for a new subscription service for my 6 year old son. Any favorites for that age?
I only got that one box to review to date.
