OMG finally! We finally have January PopSugar Must Have Box spoilers (as always, thank you to the ladies over at MUT). We were getting so spoiled with PopSugar coming so early the box few months that this month’s wait seemed like ages!

I’ll total the January 2014 PopSugar Must Have Box up as soon as I can get some more details on the gloves! As is, the total would be around $80! And as usual, I will post my thoughts when my box arrives. I am expecting it on Saturday, but totally have my fingers crossed it shows up sooner. What are your initial thoughts?

Like usual everyone (well most) on MUT are negative about this box and I think it’s great. What can I see I’m super easy to please. I don’t think I’ll probably ever cancel pop sugar because I love the excitement I get from it and the variety. I am most excited about the gloves, popcorn, and calendar. I do think it is strange they sent a calendar after the 1st of the year when most people have already got one. The pictures look cute though so I can always cut them out and use them as decorations.
I don’t think I would ever cancel PopSugar either! I agree that they should have sent that calendar last month!
I thought that reviews on MUT so far have been pretty positive. There haven’t been many, and I’ve only seen one or two people that aren’t pleased. Overall, I really like this box.
It’s got to be hard to curate a box like PopSugar!!! I’d love to read about the process!
I too would love to know how they do it. In my head I picture them having a meeting in the conference center and everyone giving suggestions of some of the recent items they love, but I know it’s much more than that. They have to plan months ahead and get most items pretty cheap so they can make money. More than likely a lot of items come from companies offering their products as marketing tools. Regardless it’s hard to please a lot of people without actually personalizing the boxes
Totally agree! It’s got to be quite difficult. And I assume they have a ton of subscribers, so they need such large quantities which likely makes it even more difficult.

I like it- I make better judgement when I get it in my hands. I don’t think I will ever cancel PS- my luck once I did the next box would be the best one yet! So I am happy with PS and the few others I get now. PS is like a little gift to me every month for being a good wife 🙂
Oh and now I need a juicer! 🙂 Shopping trip

Yep – Jack and Lucy tech gloves. They are knit and thin. I like them better as an everyday glove then the isotoners I got for Christmas. But for the really cold/windy days they aren’t going to do much.
Is there a website listed for them? I cannot find anything on this company!

Yeah I love the book because I am buy a juicer this weekend so that is awesome but I do really love everything in this box, from the gloves to the mask. It all works.

Everyone at MUT is hating on the book but it is what I’m most excited for! Even my husband is thrilled. I saw that someone posted a picture of knit gloves, I thought the lucy ones might be to good to be true.

Someone at MUT just posted a photo of the gloves and unfortunately they’re not the nice Lucy runners gloves that were being batted around at first. They’re a pair of knit gloves, which I’m not really excited about. They look like something I could buy at Walmart 🙁

Way better than December’s box! I’ll actually use everything in this one. The mask, alone, based on reviews, seems to be worth the price and everything else is an extra.
I think I am most excited to try the mask! the gloves are actually knit. I saw a real picture of them.
I am looking forward to the gloves and mask. The nail files and book are meh. I liked the Jessica Sienfeld cookbook but this one is too specialized – I am not into juicing.
I am going to give it a try. People rave about it and we do have a juicer?

Your a quick one! Love the box and I’ll use everything in it. Even living in GA the weather gets cold and I love tech gloves. I’m a vegetarian so the Juice Generation Book is terrific. I host a lot of veggie cookbooks on my own blog.
I can always use nail files. I buy cheap ones but the Revlon by marchesa box O? Files are really cute. And I think I’m gonna really dig the popcorn.
I’m a little nervous about the Malin+Goetz Detox Face Mask because my skin is so sensitive but hey if it’s too strong I’ll gift it to my 23 year old daughter.
And finally the Rifle Paper Co. 2014 Flip Around the World Desk Calendar is going to look really cute on my desk!

So excited for the gloves! I almost bought a pair the other day, so glad I waited. I have a juicer that I have never used hopefully the book will inspire me lol! So far from the pictures the box looks like a win for me.
I LOVE tech gloves. I can never have enough. I also have a juicer. I believe we have used it once or twice.
Love it! It’s a great box! I am excited about every single item! I have a paris themed office so that calendar is going to be awesome, always can use gloves whether they are fancy or not, popcorn looks yummy, I could always use more help with my skin, and the juicing book will definitely get used especially since I am off to a health start of the new year! This was a practical month for sure.
I got mine in the mail today (I went spoiler free – yeah!!!!) Anyway, first thoughts are that I’m not all that impressed with the box. I actually liked the December box that everyone hated – lol. That being said…..
— I’ll totally get use out of the Juicing book. I already have 2 or 3, but this one seems pretty and easy to read with lots of information. I probably would have paid $15 for it if juicing was on my radar, but I’m trying to limit carbs now…..so it’s not. Maybe later this year. But, of course, I have a juicer. If you don’t, really only the blender recipes are good.
— Face Detox – I’ll try it. Never would pay $40 for it. I have incredibly sensitive skin – so I’m guessing this will be a bust for me.
— Tech gloves – I’ll use them. I asked for (and received) a pair for Christmas. I’d be more excited if I hadn’t.
— Popcorn is in the cabinet. Doing the 24 day Advocare challenge – might try it after or may just gift to my dad
— Calendar – I have it up as a calendar on my shelves right now. We’ll see. Not overly excited about it.
So…..this box to me was really about the book and the gloves. First PopSugar that I’ve actually been a bit disappointed in. Maybe it will grow on me…..maybe this is a lesson not to go spoiler free, maybe the spoilers make me like it more 😉

As always, there are pluses and minuses to this months box. Do I own a juicer? No. But a good friend of mine does and I think this will be a perfect “out of the blue I’m thinking of you” little present to send him 🙂 Do I already own a pair of tech gloves? Yes. But they are basic, these may be nicer…in any event I’ll have another pair that I can keep in the car (and as an iPad and iPhone user, tech gloves are awesome). Everything else I can use. And I’m completely laughing at the little files…I just saw my husband using my nice file on his feet (fer cryin out loud!) and I made a note to go buy new ones. These will be hidden for my use only!
And thanks again for the spoilers. I too, have been stalking you for this!
LOL! I need a pair of gloves in every coat, car, bag, etc. I can never seen to have any on me.
Yay! Just the mask, calendar, and gloves make this $40 well spent for me, since I need all three right now! Everything else is gravy.
I really don’t get the boxes of nail files thing (got some Tweezerman ones from BB awhile back too)….like, are you supposed to only use them a few times then throw them out? Because even cardboard ones last a really long time for me! Also, for the people that don’t dig the idea of a desk calendar, you can always cut out the months you like and frame them for a cute themed cluster of prints on the wall!
If you are like me, you lose them everywhere!!!
I love the idea of using those for prints! I bet you could pick up some cheap frames at IKEA too!

I got my box this afternoon! And I gotta say it’s just ok…I live in Florida so tech gloves aren’t really needed….and more popcorn?!? The nail files and face were the two best items. I actually lived the December box so this one is a bit dissapointing 🙁

I was kind of disappointed in the spoilers for PopSugar, but I got it this afternoon and actually liked it when I opened it. My SIL has a juicer, so she’ll get the book, but everything else was okay. Not great, but not worth canceling over. With Birchbox, I was excited about the spoilers, but was “meh” when I got the box. I’ll use everything in it, but it felt like it was kind of boring(That’s could just be me though). Now, I’m waiting for Glossybox. After the spoilers they’ve given, it has a lot to live up to!

Looking at the spoilers never stops me from being excited about getting my box. But mine is tracking to arrive tomorrow and I wish I hadn’t checked this month. Totally my fault, but I lost track of my finances and ended up getting an overdraft fee when popsugar sub fee was deducted from my account. So knowing how much the box ended up really costing me this month and seeing the contents is a letdown. I’m only looking forward to the desk calendar because I hadn’t bought one for my office yet. Even if I hadn’t ended up getting the overdraft fee, I would’ve felt disappointed. And enough with the popcorn already. Lol. I’m never canceling my subscription though. You never know what gem could be in the next box! 🙂

Are the prints the same or different?
This is my very first box and I won’t use anything in it. BUT I thought this might happen and will put all the items in the gift closet for regifting purposes. I might use the calendar for prints. I’m undecided at this point.
I think they would make very pretty prints.
I was disappointed with last month’s box so wasn’t sure what to expect this time around. Got my box today and love everything in it! well, almost. Not sure if I will use the calendar but it was still kind of fun. If you aren’t into smoothies you might not be into the book but I happen to be on a green smoothie kick so it was perfect!

Hahaha, my initial thoughts are always negative. XD Especially since I wasn’t a huge fan of the December box and my January box is still in the “initiated” phase with Fedex despite the fact that I live less than an hour from Gilroy (where mine is originating).
– the calendar is cute but not something I really need
– I live in CA and the gloves are definitely not needed, lol. not to mention I already got a pair for christmas
– the juice generation book, however, could be pretty awesome because I have a juicer and a vitamix.
– I’m kind of excited to try the face mask but I may end up trading or selling it instead
– while I hate caramel popcorn, I absolutely love truffle popcorn so I’m happy to see it in the box this month
– nail files are also not what I need or want

Just got mine today. WooHoo! I agree about the calendar, it’s cute, but they should’ve sent it last month. I’m not into juicing, so will probably give away the book. Everything else is great. I’m really happy with the gloves. I like the variety they have each month. I don’t think I’ll ever cancel Popsugar.

I know I will use all the items in the box this month. My December box is still half empty or half full depending on how you look at it on my dresser. Not the most exciting items to get but all very useful.

Got my 1st Popsugar box today, I was so excited to get it! I managed to avoid most of the spoilers. I only knew about the popcorn and the gloves. Overall, I was kind of disappointed. I guess I was expecting something grander. The only item I probably won’t use is the juice book. I really hope I don’t fall in love with the face mask, because I don’t need another expensive face care line. I live in Des Moines, IA and the gloves will definitely get used (especially after the blizzard we unexpectedly received today). And, what girl can’t use more nail files. I hope to get blown away by next months box!

this box was a bit better than “meh.” I already juice, so I’m not sure how really useful the book will be, I may skim through it, copy the recipes that appeal to me and toss the book into the gift pile. the gloves are a huge miss for me, I live in the south, it never really gets cold enough to warrant wearing gloves, i also don’t have anyone to gift them to that would get any use out of them for the same geographical reasons (I already felt a bit foolish for knitting ppl scarves this christmas). the nail files are adorable and will be used, the popcorn was tasty and will be eaten. i’m SUPER excited about the facial mask, and like most ppl, wish the calendar had been in december’s box rather than january (it’s very cute, but honestly I would have gifted it for christmas had it been in the december box). all in all not terrible, but not a super “wow” either. i guess i’m more disappointed about the lack of items that felt appropriate to be gifted at later date, since thats my way of rationalizing the money i spend on subscription boxes.
It’s not like you can save a 2014 calendar to gift later right??

I tried about 20 monthly boxes for the past two years and I have dropped each one for this new year except for Pop Sugar. It’s evident it’s my fave and I have tried like I said sooooo many various boxes. Even dropping Love With Food because the food in it melts half the year here in East Texas which is unfortunate cause I LOVE Love with Food especially since they donate some of their proceeds to combat hunger!

If you don’t have a juicer no worries. The Dr. Actually told me to use the blender instead because the juicer gets rid of all the good for you fiber/pulp. You can always strain it through cheese cloth.
