The Maz Box, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly subscription box which offers the cutest and most fascinating beauty products from popular Korean brands.  It’s $25/month and promises to include 5-7 full sized products in every box.

The Box

The Maz Box ships via USPS Priority Mail which is suppose to take two days, but I think ended up taking double that?  Between the snow and the weekend, it makes sense.

The Maz Box is super new (I believe that January is their first ever box), so I was super excited to see what was inside.  I thought the packaging on the inner box was great and ever eye catching!

First Look

Still can’t really tell what’s in it!  But everything was neatly wrapped in tissue (I unwrapped it a little for this) and made me even more anxious to check it out.

The Information Card

The Maz Box’s January theme was “New Year New Skin” and is focusing on items to help us all achieve better skin.  Here is what the box included:

~Daily Garden Aloe Cleansing Foam ($4.50):  I tested this out last night and the scent totally reminded me of Bath & Body Works Cucumber Melon scent.  I loved it!  I thought that the cleansing foam was great and a little bit goes a long way.

~Etude House Collagen Eye Patch ($3.49) and Black Charcoal Chin Pack ($1): The eye patches are formulated with collagen to revitalize and improve appearance around eyes, while the chin pack works to improve your chin complexion.  I really liked the eye patches and thought they total worked.  I would totally get more.  The packaging does have instructions in english, which was much appreciated.

~Tea Cafe Rosy Peach Tea Mask Sheet ($1.50):  I have not gotten a chance to try this yet (I can only try so many skin products in one week), but it’s supposed to “help skin circulation and promote healthy skin”.

~innisfree jejubija anti-trouble patch spot ($2.40):  Ohh, this is awesome!  It includes 12 patches and helps to rapidly soothe irritated, troubled skin with its outstanding healing powers.  I tested one out and really thought it calmed things down nicely.

~Skinfood Fresh Apple T-U-Zone Balance Mask Sheet ($11.41):  This mask contains “apple content and carbonated water” and is suppose to tighten pores, control the T-Zone, etc.  I am saving this one for a “me day” and think it’s going to be quite fun to try!

All totaled I came up with a value of $24.30 for the January 2014 The Maz Box.  It’s just shy of the $25/month price tag, so it’s clearly not the most “valuable” box out there, but if you are interested in trying some things you normally wouldn’t be exposed to this is one to check out for sure!

Korean skincare is the bomb, especially their bb creams.

    1. Jennifer

I was secretly hoping for a BB creme, but I guess they wouldn’t know what shade to send!

Ooo I so want the anti-trouble patches but the shipping is expensive! Guess it’s a reason to go visit Korea… 😉

    1. Jennifer

Yes! That would save a bunch on shipping 😉

I’m getting Feb which is supposed to have some makeup. I heart Elude House. It’s my go-to Korean skincare. I’ve always meant to try Holika Holika but never knew what. I might need to place an order with my Korean shop gal.

Thanks Jen for the intro to this box! I did give you a shout out when I subbed. 🙂

Thanks!! I can’t wait to see what you get in February!

Got my Feb box today, posted a pic on Instagram. I’m working on a review. I normally don’t do a cost breakdown, but from what I could find it’s about $29 this month.

        1. Jennifer

          It looks great!

I didn’t see that added value in the sub so I cancelled. Most items were $2-5 each with a total of 5 varieties. Meh.

And because it’s after the 1st of the month, apparently I’m obligated to March. With the Feb. box arriving today (Feb. 4), I already paid for March and there’s a no refund policy.

I guess I was supposed to cancel sight unseen and resub if I was sure I wanted to continue.

Oh I wouldn’t love that!!! You should be able to get your box before having to commit!
