Carnivore Club, who kindly sent me this box to review, is the exclusive meat of the month club for discerning individuals! Every month members of the Carnivore Club will receive 4 to 6 different selections of cured and smoked meats, charcuterie and jerky from across the planet.

The Package

Carnivore Club ships via USPS Priority Mail.  I had no idea what was inside this package, but my guess was books.  Not even close.  LOL!  This month’s shipment was not perishable, but suggested that it be kept cool, so I popped it in the fridge right away.  It’s freezing cold out right now anyway, so everything was chilled, but come summer I would be a little worried if it wasn’t packed with a cold pack.

The Box

I always love the Carnivore Club boxes and think it’s just about as close to looking like a cutting board as it could be!

The Information Card

The February 2014 Carnivore Club featured meatery is “Alle-Pia” which is located in Paso Robles, CA.  They are known for their small batch hand crafted salami and locally source of all their products.  B snatched up these salamis and took them to work today, so I will do my best with his brief descriptions of them.

~Finocchiona Salami:  This salami gets it’s flavor from “traditional Chianti wine from Italy, crushed fennel seeds and black pepper” and was a big hit with B!  I am not even sure if he brought lunch to work today.  Something tells me this was it ;).

~Nduja: We don’t have any bread that I have deemed fancy enough to try this on, but I am looking forward to having a fun snack this weekend because this looks amazing.

~Pancetta Tesa: Pancetta is an Italian bacon made of pork belly meat.  This can be eaten sliced (as-is) or can be cooked and added to a Pasta Carbonara.  I don’t believe B took this to work so hopefully he cooks up some amazing pasta dish with it this weekend.

~Cacciatorino Salami: This salami has a lighter taste than the others and gets it’s flavor from juniper berries and Chianti wine from Italy.  And again, you know was B said about it?  That it was delicious.  And that’s seriously about it.

~Tartufo Salami:  Salami al Tartufo is made with black summer truffles and is considered a treat for special occasions, which I guess it was at work today for B ;). I know he was really hoping that he wouldn’t forget to take these all in today and was super excited to give them a try.

I couldn’t find any prices for these to do a cost breakdown on this box, but I do know that B loved it.  He always does.  And I am pretty sure my brother is going to be super jealous that these salamis have all been eaten because every time he comes over he asks if we’ve gotten any more of “that meat box” because he was a HUGE fan of it when we ate them all last time!

What do you think of Carnivore Club?  B loved it and it might be something we need to add to our monthly box rotation!  At least every once in a while!  Carnivore Club is $50/month, but you can use the code “ramble10” to save $10 off your first month!  Click here if you want to order or just check them out.

We got ours today too, and I was so confused when I saw the package. The box is so cute hubs held on to it, and the salami spread was divine.
