February 2013 ipsy

OMG, yay!  My February 2014 ipsy bag is here.  I almost couldn’t believe it when I checked the tracking and saw that it was out for delivery today.  If you aren’t familiar, ipsy is $10/month and sends its members a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products.

The Bag

ipsy ships via DHL Global Mail and it sped here this month! I was quite impressed.  It took 6 days to get from NC to MI, which does not seem fast, but seriously, it was.

First Look

ipsy releases the contents of their Glam bags on the 10th of the month and of course I had peeked, but I was excited to get my bag just the same so I could check out the color various.  And hopefully you can see inside the bag, but it’s a fun float print.

The Information Card

The February 2014 ipsy My Glam theme is “The Look of Love” and is sending goodies you will fall in love with at first sight this month. They don’t include a true information card with your products listed on it like some of the other boxes do. That information can all be found in your account. ipsy sends out bag variations, via “ipsymatch”, which is based on the preferences you enter when you take the ipsy quiz. There were 15 difference products this month and I believe each bag got 5 products, so your guess on how many variations were included is as good as mine! Here’s what was included:

~The ipsy bag: Nothing really unique about this bag, but I like it just fine.  I will for sure use it in my purse to organize things.

The ipsy bag

~Pop Beauty Plump Pout Mini (Peony Petal) ($16):  I love this color and think that this was a perfect fit for me.  Sometimes I’m not sure that the ipsy match works for me, but it did here!

Pop Beauty Plump Pout Mini

~Zoya Nail Polish (Odette) ($9): Perhaps not a color I’d pick for myself, but I think it’s seasonal and quite pretty.  And I do love Zoya polishes, so it’s a win.  Pretty much any lip glosses or polishes I will like.

Zoya Nail Polish (Odette)

~Tini Beauty Eyetini Cordial Cream Shadow + Base in One (Ambrosia) ($18):  At first I thought this was a lip gloss, but nope, it’s a shadow which makes it even cooler.  I like how it goes on and couldn’t be more pleased with the color selection on this one.

~skyn ICELAND Fresh Start Mask with Ice Age Mud ($6.50): I haven’t gotten a chance to test this yet, but I am thinking maybe tomorrow night?  I have no Valentine’s Day plans (B has school), so this might be fun to save for then. You are supposed to see results right away which would be awesome if it’s true.

~J. Cat Beauty Eyelashes + Eyelash Glue ($3.99):  If I never receive another pair of eyelashes again, it will be too soon.  I *think* I may eventually wear them, but I never actually do wear them.  They will be passed along to a friend.

~Bonus Gift: Benefit High Beam ($26): This month’s bonus gift (which takes 1000 points aka 4 referrals or a ton of reviews to redeem) a Benefit High Beam.  To tell yo the truth I thought it was going to be a mini one.  Not even.  It’s a full size and I was thrilled.  Love this stuff!

Bonus Gift: Benefit High Beam

All totaled I came up with a value of $53.49 (and that does not even include the cost of the High Beam) for the February 2014 ipsy My Glam Bag!  Seriously how do they do it?  Even if I don’t love everything in the bag, I still totally totally worth that $10/month for me.

Did you get this month’s ipsy bag? What variations did you get? And what’d you think? If you are interested in subscribing or interested in learning more, click here.

I got nearly the same selection as you this month and love mine too. 🙂 Did you notice that the lashes are 100% human hair? Yikes! I’ll still with lash primer and 3 coats of mascara, please!

  • Jenny

Awesome bag. I’m still waiting on mine as usual of course I’m pretty sure mail didn’t run today so who knows when it will get to me. 🙁 I want to know what colors I got since I like the items but being good colors would really just make my day.

I’m so torn I want to get a subscription to either tipsy, glossybox or birch box. Each of them have pro/cons. I can’t decide!!! Out of the three which do think provides a better selection of products that are worth it?

Glossybox always provided higher end samples / full sized products I wouldn’t have tried otherwise. Birchbox does a nice mixture of make-up and skincare. ipsy is lots of makeup with a great value, but they do a lot of the same brands!

  • Bethany

Oh gosh. I originally signed up for Ipsy (waitlist) because I heard you get larger products (and the bag!), but then I switched to Birchbox, and I love it. But then I see your Ipsy reviews and want it, too! Though I agree on the falsies.

I got the Pop Beauty Plump Pout Mini in the same color and I thought it was perfect! I wore it and my bf noticed and complimented how lovely it looked. Score! I also recieved Zoya Nail polish in very light pink color (love). I got the shadow in a darker bronze color. I also thought it was lip gloss! I eventually read the tiny sticker on the bottom that said it was eyeshadow. Glad it had that or I would have probably tried it out as lipgloss. lol I also recieved a full size City Color Be Matte Blush in a color that is perfect for my skin tone. Another win! Lastly, I recieved a sample of IPKN NY
Moist & Firm BB cream. Havent tried it yet, but I’m always happy to recieve BB cream. I’m so glad I didnt get the eyelashes I have so many and im terrible at putting them on. Despite all the youtube videos that make it look so easy! I loved this month’s Ipsy. I really do feel that they got it right with my skin tone and likes with everything.

I have over 1,000 points and I am on the fence about the high beam. I want it but I have no idea how to use it but a full size is amazing!
I don’t wear regular nail polish so I’ll probably give this away.
You and I got the same bag!! I haven’t received mine yet but I’m hoping to get the same colors. I’m super excited for the POP Lip Gloss!

  • Rebecca

Umm, I don’t remember. From the time to started the IPSY points till a couple of days ago. I had three people subscribe under me so I think that’s how I got points so fast.

  • Autumn

I just received my Ipsy bag today and we have very similar products!! I love them all (but like you could do without eyelashes–not my thing!). Can’t wait to try them!

  • PolishedPortland

This was my first ipsy bag and I am so impressed! I got the same things as you except for the eyeshadow–I got City Color Matte Blush instead. I’ll use all of this stuff and I like all of it (even the eyelashes, although who knows if I’ll ever use them). And this was a PERFECT little gift to get on Valentine’s Day.

  • Cristina

I got the same things, except instead of the mask I got a 2.5 oz tube of body butter! It smells so nice! And love the polish! Eyelashes and the eyeshadow are probably going into the trade box! My lip gloss smells kind of funky too. almost skunk like? plasticey?

  • Kam

    Love Ipsy so very much.

I got the Mally eyeliner- it’s silver, but I can either pass it on to the nieces or use it for…. Something, lol.

Odette-Zoya, was hoping for pink but this is a unique shade I don’t have. And zoya rocks.

Jesse’s Girl blue eyeshadow pallette… Um nooooo thanks. I would have flipped w happiness had I gotten the bronze eyetini.

    Uberliss hair oil- ok cool

Same pop gloss as you, thank goodness not the fuschia! Lol!

Not my favorite bag, but I can never complain for $10. I can spend that on one product I might loathe, ha ha.

  • Lana

I didn’t get my Ipsy box yet, it is stuck in the snow somewhere, trying to make it to me. I am super bummed, I am in DIRE need of blush! Of course I peeked and looked at what I am getting, but we all know its not the same as holding it in your hands!
I DID get my February Birchbox, and I love love love it. They really read my profile. Jennifer, do you feel like Ipsy follows your beauty profile? So far, I feel like Birchbox does a better job.

    • Jennifer Post author

I don’t feel like ipsy reads my profile much! I think Birchbox reads it better. Somehow ipsy thinks I LOVE eyeliners and false lashes, which is so not true.

  • JoJo

This was my second month of ipsy. I got all of the same products but different colors. The eyeshadow I got is Violet which I love. I would not have picked the color but it looks good and I have already used it a lot. I got the Pop lip gloss in fuschia freesia–its a bit bright and the smell is gross until it dries. I got the lighter pink Zoya pink polish and it is fabulous.
The mask is awesome–there is definitely more than one application in those packets, so I ziplocked my leftovers for another mask or two. I’m already planning to buy it even though its pretty pricey compared to what I’d normally buy. My skin really did look better right away.
The lashes are meh. I may eventually use them. I’ve never worn false lashes in my life.
All in all, I am very happy with this month. Totally worth $10.

Your review convinced me to try and get an Ipsy Box…I am on the waiting list, hopefully I get good news soon. All of your reviews are helpful (I was looking for the Fab Fit Fun Box Review and came accross yours! You should be earning some points from me. Keep up to good work!

Ohh.. i just love your bag. I know we are about to get our March bags soon, and I think I am even more excited for this month. Last month was my first bag and I received; the eyelashes, the same zoya nail polish, and the same lip gloss. I also received the Mally silver eyeliner, and the cuty color matte blush. I wasn’t too excited before I received my products, because they are nothing I have EVER used before. Once I received, and tested everything, even watched some how to videos, I became more comfortable using everything. Now I can’t leave the house without my eyeliner, and my blush! Hope you are as excited as I am for March’s bag!!

      • RobertAnn

Oh I sure did.. I’m 50/50 on my bag this month. I think I’m most excited for the bag honestly, especially since I’m from the San Francisco area, and for it to be a local artist! I’m getting Lipstick(not excited), the NYX like nuetral brownish palette(good with this), Indigo eyeliner from Chella(not sure WHAT I will do with this), and the pixi face primer(SUPER EXCITED FOR THIS!!). I think it will be a good month. My mom and I are getting the same exact products, I can’t wait to hear her thoughts too. HA.

I love ipsy! For the March 2014 Glam Bag I received the bareminerals lipstick, the bora bora eyeshadow quad, the chella blue eye liner, and the vita liberata luxury tan. I absolutely love getting new makeup every month! The website itself is a lot of fun, and so is following ipsy on Facebook, there is a strong sense of community with other women that are also interested in makeup.
Join me on ipsy and subscribe to the Glam Bag! You get 4-5 beauty products every month delivered to your door, for just $10. Check it out here: http://www.ipsy.com/r/73vu
