PetBox, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly subscription box for pets (dogs or cats) that allows you to select what items you wish to receive in your box! They are the only box (I believe) out there that allows you to do this! You can also opt for a “Surprise Me” box in which PetBox will hand-select your items for you. You can opt for a dog box, a cat box, or a combination dog / cat box.
My February PetBox shipped via FedEx Ground, however, I received one back in December that shipped via USPS Priority Mail, so I am not totally clear on how they ship. Both times my boxes arrived quickly, so I suppose it doesn’t matter too much.
Since my box was a review box, I received the “Surprise Me” option. And because every box is custom, there isn’t an information card for it. If you opt for the select your own items option, you will know exactly what you are receiving in your box. And the Surprise Me box is customized based on the size and age of your dog. Here is what was in my box, which was for my Small dogs:
~FURminator deshedding tool ($42.99): My dogs really don’t shed so I didn’t think that this was going to do anything for us. I was shocked at the amount of fur it got out! I thought it worked very very well and was super impressed by it.
~Bistro Bites Peanut Butter & Apple Sauce Treats ($6): My furries love these and they are the perfect size for them. They like little treats way better than bigger ones and they make much less of a mess as well.
~Glow for Skin & Coat Chews for Dogs ($9.99): These are skin & coat supplements for dogs and I will be passing these on to my brother’s herd! Baxter and Buddy could use these, but I think that they would like them more!
~TropiClean Clean Teeth Gel ($13.17): I couldn’t have picked a better item for these two. These is easy to do and seems to be helping already.
~Aussie Ear: I haven’t set this out for the boys yet, but I know once I do, the battle will begin. It takes a minute for them to get into things, but once they do, they go wild for it and won’t stop until it’s gone!
~The Honest Kitchen Holiday Quickies ($9.99): We received these a few months ago and the furries really liked them!
All totaled I came up with a value of $82.14 for the February 2014 PetBox! A amazing deal considering that boxes are $39/month (and drop down to $29/month with a 12 month subscription). I thought this was a great box and was really impressed by the quality of items. I also love that they allow you to do a dog / cat combination box if you have both!

My husky gets brushed by the furminator weekly, it always amazes me how much hair comes out!
I can’t even imagine the amount of fur that would come out of a husky. I was shocked at the amount of fur that came out of Baxter!
I love the idea of picking your own items, as sometimes we get things in BarkBox that won’t work for Waffles (like toys, as she’s a heavy chewer)! Will keep this in mind for when our BarkBox subscription runs out.
I love that name! I think I tell you that every time!
I got this box with a deal from Gilt City (3/17 and I think available until the 27th or so), and I am confused. You get six points to use to fill a box with your choices. The items I have to choose from are one or two points each. The items over ten dollars seem to be two points. Three of the items you have here are available to me at one point each; the rest are not choices, but I don’t see how the furminator would be only one point when I am getting something that costs $13 for two points. I assume the choices will change up every month, but this seems like a big difference to me. Regardless, the deal and a discount code added to it gives me a year at $15.20 a month, so I know I will get my money’s worth, but I don’t know how I’d feel at 29.99 a month.
I should have looked in February and added up how many points everything was. My March box added up to more than six points, so I am not too sure either.
