Every Tuesday (or close to it), I thought I’d share two of my favorite things, from various categories (that makes it sound so formal which it SO is not).  This week is movies!  Here are my  two favorites:

1. This is 40.  Have you seen this movie?  OMG hysterical.  I am laughing just thinking about it.  It’s straight up B and I.  The entire thing.  I think I had tears in my eyes watching it.  Love love love.

2. Top Gun.  I don’t know if it’s the young Tom Cruise or Val Kilmer or the military aspect or what, but this movies has always been high on top of my list. I believe it came out when I was, umm, 9 (you do the math) and I didn’t like it then (not really a kid’s movie but I swear I saw it in the theatre), but it’s a different story now.  I cry every time Goose dies.  Every time.

What are your two favorite movies??  How many times have you seen them?? Do you think they get better the more you watch?

    This is 40 was hilarious!!
    My favorites movies are:

While You Were Sleeping- It was the first chick flick I can remember seeing. I watched it with my mom. She rented it for us to watch on a girls night when I was a kid. So that may be why. That, and I love me some Sandra Bullock. Pretty much every movie she’s in I will watch. Except for Gravity. Haven’t brought myself to watch that one yet. My brother works for NASA. The previews made me feel claustrophobic. Enough said. 🙂

Ghost Busters- Bill Murray, Slimer, Stay Puff Marshmallow Man. This movie came out a year before I was born…but still love it. I don’t remember the first time I saw it. But I do know the theme song was my first ring tone. LOL!

    1. Jennifer

I wonder what L would think of Ghostbusters???

  2. Alicia

Oh man. I think it’s so hard for me to choose two favorites. I’d have to say right now its Frozen and the entire Harry Potter series, but the first one if I had to choose.

    1. Jennifer

      I still haven’t seen frozen!

      1. Alicia

It’s one of my new favorites! It’s really great.

  3. Catherine Faulkenburg

I have so many favorite movies it’s hard to pick just two, but one I’ve loved since I was little is The Princess Bride. And two more recents are Walk the Line and The Departed. See, I couldn’t do it.

    1. Jennifer

It was hard! I had trouble too!

  4. Bethany

I totally want to see This is 40. I actually haven’t heard anything about it, so thanks for the thumbs up! Top Gun is of course a classic. Oh goodness, pick just two movies? My all time favorite is for sure Shawshank Redemption. It’s not one I like to watch over and over again though I’ve probably seen it a dozen times at least. Apart from that, maybe Devil Wears Prada or Count of Monte Cristo.. or Mean Girls… This is too hard!

    1. Jennifer

OMG you must see it. It’s excellent! I love all the movies you mentioned too!!!!!

  5. Jenny

I have not seen This is 40 but I need too. I think that it would be right up our alley. Top Gun is a classic.
Ok lets see what two movies would I pick. Hmmmm Dirty Dancing and I have no idea how many times I’ve seen it. One of my random facts I actually saw it opening weekend and my brother and I were the only people in the theater. If you remember it was a slow build movie so it didn’t catch on for a couple weeks. Bet I couldn’t do that again. And lets see my other movie would have to be Grease. It is my alltime favorite movie and I could watch it over and over and over. No I don’t always watch musicals but they are the ones that if they are good can easily be watched over and over and over.

    1. Jennifer

OMG you SO need to see it. It’s awesome!!!!!

I do love Dirty Dancing. That is a great one.

  6. Mom

You did see it in a theater. We were on vacation and went to a little dumpy show in Roscommon.

    1. Jennifer

Seems like an appropriate movie for a 9 year-old!

  7. Judy Louie

I don’t know why, but I LOVE Dirty Dancing. And a more recent movie I love is Silver Linings Playbook.

    1. Jennifer

That one is a classic for sure!

  8. Erin B

My two favorite are 8 Seconds and Sweet Home Alabama. I cry EVERY time I watch 8 seconds, multiple times. It’s not like I don’t know what happenes, geeze. But I can’t help it. I can (and do) sit and quote Sweet Home Alabama in my daily life haha!! I love those movies!!!!

    1. Jennifer

I don’t know if I have ever seen 8 seconds?? Clearly I should right?

      1. Erin B

Well I think you should watch it haha! It’s loosely based on be life of fallen bull rider Lane Frost.

  9. Sabrina foust

I could never pick just 2 movies. Though, I would say too 4 maybe.

    1. Much Ado About Nothing – loved the old version, but completely fell in love with joss Whedons version that he just put out.
    2. Pitch perfect- love everything about it
3 empire records- this has to be my favorite teen movie of all time. Used to watch it over and over and quote it back in school.
4 newsies- favorite musical, love it though it is grossly underrated

    1. Jennifer

Oh I love Pitch Perfect! That was a good one!

  10. Beth

Omigoodness! I wasn’t quite as young as you were, but I LOVED Goose when I saw Top Gun. Many tears were shed at the theater.

As for my favorite movies — Love Actually tops the list I think. I also tend to watch Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensibility quite regularly. For recent movies, I’m a huge Pitch Perfect fan, although I like to fast forward during certain parts which you can probably guess. I think I saw it 3 times at the theater and I rarely see movies at the theater.

    1. Jennifer

      The singing parts?

  11. Mel

My 2 favorite movies are Truly Madly Deeply (I just love it. I love Alan Rickman and I cry every time I watch) and The Princess Bride.

I just can’t watch Top Gun. Too much Take My Breath Away. It’s really weird, but ever since I heard the song as a kid, I can’t listen to that song without getting sad, even tearing up sometimes. Apparently, the first time I heard it, my mom was taking me to preschool and I apparently thought the song was about someone dying. I was in the back of the car sobbing. I don’t even know how I knew about death that early!

    1. Jennifer

Aww, that is so sweet (and so sad)!! I love that song!

  12. Stacey

I love Top Gun, it is one of my favourites too and I have played the soundtrack countless times! My other favourite film right now would probably be Hitch, I watched it last week and it reminds me of all my best friends, we use to watch it a lot!

    xoxo
