My March 2014 bluum box arrived yesterday (once again I got a huge pile of boxes in the mail and I loved every second of it) and I couldn’t wait to see what was inside.
If you aren’t familiar with them, bluum is a monthly subscription for babies and children up to 5 years of age. It’s $24.95/month and each box contains a five or more hand picked-selection of essential products for you and your baby / toddler / preschooler and is customized based on child’s age, gender and developmental stage.
My bluum box, which ships via FedEx Smart Post, took forever this month. I got the shipping e-mail for it on the 12th and it took until yesterday (the 21st) to arrive. The box wasn’t actually received by FedEx until the 18th, so I guess if you count that it was quite speedy this month!
My first impression? Where is everything. bluum always uses the same size boxes, no matter what. I really wish they’d use smaller boxes when it called for it because all this packing material and this big box was just unnecessary!
bluum sends out boxes which include products are based on your child’s age, gender and developmental stage and no longer do a “themed” box. Products in the monthly boxes still change from month to month, so if you are expecting a 27 Month-Old (we have WB aged up) box next month it will likely be different. You never know what you are going to get with bluum and it keeps me intrigued! Here is what our March 2014 bluum box included:
~Koo-di Toddler Spoon ($13.72): I could only find this spoon for sale on a UK site in a utensil set and it retailed for over $30, which I think is kind of crazy because, umm, it’s just silverwear? It’s supposed to be easier for little hands, but WB doesn’t have any trouble with using utensils, so I am thinking this is probably better for younger kids.
~Begin Again Farm Buddy Blocks ($13): Totally cute. These blocks form six different farm animals and I love them. I kind of want all the different animal sets now.
~Keep Leaf Cup Sleeve ($5): I am not overly excited by this, but it’s useful and I will probably use it. And it is cute.
~Boogie Wipes Blaster Wipes ($2.57): These will certainly come in handly. Hopefully not anytime soon, but eventually the kids will get colds again and we will need them.
~Deep Steep Hand Scrub ($9.95): Ohh, I love this! I am loving that bluum has been included Deep Steep items in their boxes and I hope the trend continues. This hand scrub is awesome and I am very happy with it.
All totaled I came up with a value of $44.24 for the March 2014 bluum box. As always, it was beyond $24.95/month cost of the box, but I didn’t love this month as much I have been loving the past few. I would have been happier if it had only one “mom” item and the second mom item was a toy or snack or something for WB. Plus, I think the spoon was a little young for WB.
