Today was another amazing subscription box day around here and one of the boxes I received was my March 2014 Escape Monthly box! I haven’t finished my reviews on yesterdays boxes yet (not even close), but I was so excited about this one I wanted to post right away.
If you aren’t familiar with them, Escape Monthly, which is $49.95/month is a monthly vacation in a box. Each month you will discover products from a different location. Products consist off local and destination-inspired foods, relaxation and beauty essentials, and the highest quality products that bring the life of the destination right to you.
This month’s Escape Monthly shipped via FedEx. It was scheduled to arrive two days ago, but seems to have gotten a bit delayed (by FedEx). Last month Escape Monthly shipped via USPS Priority Mail so it seems they rotate between the two?
If you didn’t know what the theme was before you opened this box, you know now! I couldn’t wait to dig into everything.
The March 2014 Escape Monthly destination was Ireland and includes everything you need to experience your own Irish vacation right in your home. Here is what was included:
~Moon Travel Guides Ireland ($19.99): This book is a little different than the other travel books I have received from Escape Monthly. This one is less of a travel guide and more about what life is like over in Ireland. It’s always interesting to read about other parts of the world, so I will be flipping through here. I am always curious about real estate in other countries, so I will start there ;). International House Hunters has got me fascinated with how expensive apartments / houses are in Europe!
~Bewley’s Irish Creme Coffee ($2.99): Bewley’s operates a well known coffee and tea emporium in Dublin. I am going to have to wait until after the Challenge to try this, but is it wrong that I want to try it with some “real” Irish Cream?
~Bewley’s Gift of the Gab Irish Tea ($3.95): You know what I think about tea! This will end up being traded or I will give it to my tea loving cousin.
~O’Neills Shamrock Shortbread Cookies ($2.79): Butter cookies!!! I would open them and have a taste, but then I would I’d either have to eat the entire box before they went bad or, well, they’d go bad. I don’t think B shares my love for shortbread cookies, but he’s missing out.
~Bulter’s Mint Chocolate Truffle ($3.99): Bulter’s is known as Ireland’s favorite luxury chocolatier and has been creating chocolates since 1932. I am guessing B will snatch this up and hopefully he’ll share a bit with me.
~Human + Kind Family Remedy Cream ($32.91): It’s a good thing I like expensive creams because this makes up the majority of the value in this box. This cream is described as Irish Magic and is suppose to do it all. You can use it on your face, your feet, your body, wherever. I hope not to fall in love with this magic since I do not know anyone in Ireland who could get me more!
~Hogan’s Brown Irish Soda Bread ($5.95): I couldn’t even tell you the last time I made bread (it’s possible I never have made bread), but I will make this.
~Auld Sod Shamrock Seed ($5.99): I think L and I will make this together and see if we can get any four-leaf shamrocks to grow! I googled the difference between four-leaf clovers and four-leaf shamrocks and it appears there is one, but I can’t quite tell what that is.
All totaled I came up with a value of $78.56 for the March 2014 Escape Monthly Ireland box. My original plan with Escape Monthly was to try it for a month and then move on to a different subscription. And then came the New York box and I “needed” it. And then the destination was Ireland and obviously “needed” that too. The destination for the April box is Mexico and I am pretty sure I am going to need that one too!

This was the first month I got Escape Monthly and I was really excited as I am thinking of planning a trip to Ireland in the near future and thought it would be a fun way to get a little taste of Ireland before actually going. I received my box early last week and was surprised that it didn’t include the normal city guide that I had seen in previous boxes. I then saw your review and was surprised that some of the boxes did include a city guide. My box also included a marmalade, seaweed bath product and a bar soap instead of the tea and chocolate. I was planning on adding this to my normal monthly boxes but now I’m a little hesitant. Have you seen variations in their boxes before?
This is the first box I have seen variations! I thought they all came with a city guide. There was some discussion on their Facebook wall about it, but I don’t know if they replied.

I was out of town, so I just got to open mine today. I went to Ireland a couple years ago for spring break, so I knew I HAD to get this. I just love everything! 🙂 Even the tea and I don’t drink tea LOL I think I love it so much because it reminded me of being there and I miss it so much! Everything in my box was the same as yours, except my chocolate bar is a milk chocolate truffle one. 🙂
Now I kinda want to do another month LOL I don’t know though, we’ll see!
