Sapphire Soul, who kindly sent me their Balance Box to review, is a box designed to inspire your mind, take care of your body and open your soul. Items included in the box could be from existing or brand new companies; focused on holistic and organic health, metaphysical products, and items good for balancing the energy in your home.

The Box

The Sapphire Soul Balance Box ships via USPS Priority Mail.  Since they are in MI and I am as well, it took only one day to arrive.

First Look

I opened the box not knowing what to expect at all. And once I peeked it in I was super curious to see what everything was for.

The Information Card

The April Balance Box theme was “Renew and Refresh” and was all about spring cleaning, renewing your soul as well as refreshing your body and home.  The box included the following items to clean winter germs and toxins and to also help you refresh:

~White Sage: Thank goodness this box comes with a detailed information card because not only didn’t I know what this was for, I also didn’t even know what it was called.  It turns out that white sage is used to smudge negative energy in your home and make room for positive.  You burn this and “wipe” or “clean” the air.  Interesting.  I need to get an adult (i.e. B) to supervise this because it’s not really safe for me to attempt something like this on my own.  LOL!

~Lemon and Tea Tree Essential Oils: I didn’t know this, but lemon and tea tree oil are fantastic disinfectants and antibacterial cleaners.  They recommend mixing with water in a spray bottle and using to clean and refresh the home.  I am so doing this.  And while we are on the topic of essential oils, does anyone know what one would use for your sinuses?  Mine have just been awful and I’d prefer not to pop allergy pills 24-7, so any help would be great!

~Joy or Positive Energy Essential Oil Candle: The card says that the candle included will either be Joy or Positive Energy and I believe this one is Joy.  At least that’s what google led me to believe.  I am not sure if it worked, because I always feel more joyful when I burn candles, but it smelled great.

~Citrine: Citrine is the stone of abundance, prosperity and manifestation.  Allison, the founder of Sapphire Soul, says she carries one with her at all times and I think I will do the same.  Heck, I have nothing to lose and if it brings prosperity and helps to acquire wealth as it is suppose to, I am more than down for that!

~Detox Bath Soak: Totally a B item.  Although this does smell great, he will enjoy it more than I would for sure.

~Stash Chanakara Tea & Stash Mint Iced Green Tea Powder: I swear, there is a tea for everything!  These will be for my cousin who will be very happy with them.

I didn’t do a cost breakdown on the April 2014 Sapphire Soul Balance Box, but the box I received was the small $28/month box and I am guessing was right around there price wise. Plus, I wouldn’t even know where to start with some of these items, so if it’s something you want to dip your feet into, this is a great place to start.

Hi Jennifer! I love using essential oils. The tea tree oil is also awesome to use to stop infections on the body. My husband has been saved by it many times, he is always getting bug bites that he itches that turn into these huge boils. We put tea tree on it with hot water and it turns it into a head and he is able to get rid of them. I know it is disgusting but it works! Anyways, whenever we are stuffed up we use about 15-25 drops Eucalyptus, 15-20 drops Tea Tree, and 15-20 drops Peppermint oils into a pan of boiling water, put a rag over our eyes, and breathe through our nose over the steam for about 10 minutes depending, to open us up, HOLY COW does it work. You really need to check out a website that talks about essential oils, I don’t have any particular ones, just Google it 🙂 Oh and I also love lavender essential oil!

    1. Jennifer

Ohh, that sounds like what I need. I guess I just never really understood what you did with it. Like I didn’t get that you steamed it! Thank you!

    2. Allison

Tea Tree oil is another household favorite- so many uses! Great for at home bug repellants and I’ve actually used it to remove permanent marker from hard surfaces! Lavender is calming and makes any oil smell ‘prettier’ and more floraly….

This box intrigues me. I would be the same way about making my husband supervise anything complicated or potentially dangerous… Even without prices, it looks like this is a pretty good value for what you pay.

    1. Jennifer

I know. B even blows up any candles I lit before he goes to bed.

    2. Allison

Thanks Bethany! Just added 3 more boxes to the site- 1 for essential oils, 1 specifically for crystals and 1 for a piece of crystal healing jewlery. Trying to get all price points and for people who want to try a little bit of everything, but also those that want something more specific.

My understanding is that the cleansing powers of sage only work if you procure you’re sage in the correct manner. The ritual of picking, burning/cleansing with sage are a sacred Native American tradition. It is best to to receive sage from a person that has picked it according to that tradition, an offer is made while picking it and there is a whole process to the actual collection of it from the Earth. Buying it or receiving it willy nilly from some random person that does not abide by these rituals can lead to the sage not working and not only not cleansing but bringing “bad vibes” into your house.

    1. Jennifer

Ohh, this is interesting. Have you ever done it??

      1. Ace

I have never done it, sage grows everywhere here, you can always smell it in the air and see it but I live close to a reservation and I know a lot of Native Americans and have a respect for their traditions and beliefs. I also have bad allergies and asthma so even if I wanted to burn sage-it would be a no go.

As for the sinuses, try steaming a couple drops of oregano, lemon, peppermint, and mellaleuca (tea tree oil) and breathing it in. That’s supposed to help.

    1. Jennifer

Thank you! Do you think it works?

      1. Ace

I think it helps, those oils are natural anti-inflammatories and have antimicrobial properties. So they open up the sinus cavities to make breathing easier (like Vapo Rub or cough drops) and they help treat/soothe sinus irritations/infections. Just remember there are oils you can use topically and those you can’t. Oregano for example will burn you if you use it topically.

    2. Allison

Peppermint is my FAVORITE oil, hands down. Rub it on sore muscles and is a go-to to rub on my temples and neck when a headache kicks in- it’s got that icy-hot cooling feeling, instant relief and you smell like a candy cane!

This looks like a fun box. I am a baig fan of sage “smudging”. If you have an empty jar, that’s the best way to put it out. I used to kind of tamp it down to put it out (like one would a cigarette, I supposed), but was told not to do that. I believe the act of burning sage puts negative ions in the air, much like a thunderstorm, so it does actually clean the air. I am long overdue for a smudging. This is an interesting box I am going to have to strongly consider.

    1. Jennifer

      Very interesting!!!

    2. Allison

I need to sage…going to do it this weekend actually! It’s always great to do when you move into a new home. Think in your head and even say out loud- ask the ‘bad’ vibes or negative energy, everything that was holding you back to leave and ask for the good to come in! 🙂

  7. Allison

    Jennifer,
I’m so happy you liked the box! I’m reading through all the comments and love them all 🙂 Yes- essential oils have thousands of uses- in particular, eucalyptus is fantastic for sinuses. I have customers with breathing issues, allergies, colds, you name it and use eucalyptus both as relief and to ‘ward off’ bugs. You can apply it topically (it’s safe on the skin, although always ‘test’ how you will react to any essential oil as they are powerful products from nature!). I rub it on the bottom of my daughter’s feet at night to help soothe a cold/cough and she’s sleeping like a baby in no time. You can also rub in other obvious areas like the chest (think Vick’s) and around/under nose for aromatherapy. Put a few drops in a bowl of hot water with a tower over your head and breathe in for extra relief- or my husband even uses a few drops in the shower and lets the steam do the work. It really clears you up in the morning!

White sage yes is typically used to remove the negative energy. You can also use it to cleanse your crystals- as crystals can pick up on negative vibes from being handled, most crystals can simply be washed with water or smudged with the white sage smoke. Put crystals on a window sill in the moonlight and/or sunlight to recharge and absorb positive rays. In response to Ace- I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of white sage only working if you pick it yourself, but it does make some sense. Certain elements from nature do ‘work’ better if you choose them, or let them choose you I should say. Even with crystals, if you can pick them out in person- that is sometimes the best way. However, some such as turquoise work best when given as gifts. I’ve never seen a place to pick white sage around where I live, but now I’m intrigued to explore!

There is SO much to learn about essential oils, crystals and other metaphysical products. This box is the tip of the ice burg- however I’m hoping to bring the contents of the box to light for many people- as we start to look into and practice more holistic methods and remedies for common ailments and balancing life. This is why I started this business! I love researching and educating others and hope to bring free tips and resources as well as products for purchase! I do blog about many of these topics and you more than welcome to check out my site: http://store.sapphiresoul.com/blog-2/

Also, I sell items a la carte from the same site as above and have just ADDED 3 new subscription boxes for people who maybe only want to try an essential oil, crystal or piece of crystal healing jewelry. While my brand is obviously Sapphire Soul, especially with the oils I carry and allow people to try different brands of oils. Specifically, I sell doTERRA which is a highly reputable line of oils and they have some FANTASTIC resources and research behind their products! For more info on doTERRA and to try the oils please email/contact me and visit my doTERRA site: http://www.mydoterra.com/sapphiresoul/ Email if I can help with any questions at all! http://www.sapphiresoul.com and allison@sapphiresoul.com
