You know the drill, I am stealing Jen’s Sunday Sentiments button and idea and making it mine tonight!
~What a weekend! Somehow it was both super busy and relaxing at the same time! I’ll recap our Easter tomorrow after I come down from my chocolate high, but WB’s birthday was fabulous! We went to the park and fed the ducks, and spent the day pretty much doing everything a year year old would like. We colored Easter eggs, ordered pizza for dinner and then had ice-cream cake for dessert. A good good to turn 2!
~The May Julep Maven selection window is open! The May collection is the “Fresh Twist” collection and it is also the month Julep is finally introducing the Pile Wand (which I still don’t totally “get”, but I am sure I will when it arrives). They also have some news on tap for June and are offering fully customizable boxes. You can read about that here. And, as always, if you haven’t signed up for Julep and want to give them a go, click here and use code FREEBOX to get your first box for $4.99.
~I had no idea that the 19 Kids and Counting was still on tv. How did I not know this? And I had no idea that one of the girls was engaged. I watched a few episodes the other day (including the one with the Bates wedding) and please tell me I am not the only one who is uncomfortable watching the courting process? If that’s how they want to do it, cool for then, but I feel so awkward watching. Like I am intruding???
~I’ll do a new (and closed) subscription box roundup later in the week. I just didn’t get a chance to do it today, but it’s coming, I swear.
~Does anyone use the “Checkout 51” app? Word on the street is that I need to get with this? I haven’t gotten a chance to check it out, but my friend was telling me you basically just scan your grocery receipt with your phone and you can cash back? I’m all over that!
~I’m headed to the mall tomorrow and it has a Lush. Tell me what I need. I am always so overwhelmed in there! No bath bombs or soaps though. I’m talking products!
That’s about it from here tonight! How was your Easter?
I really love the buffy bar. It is a shea butter, cocoa butter bar filled with exfoliates to use in the shower. It is too easy to spend way too much money in that store!
I fear that!
Lush is my favorite. I like their bubblegum lip scrub, Wiccy magic muscles, volcano foot mask, and assorted face masks.
Ohhh, a foot mask sounds fun!
If you go to Lush you have to try out one of their fresh face masks. Bring a cooler if your traveling a lot as it is refrigerated. I also really like a product called R & B. It’s a hair smoother and I love it. Their salt scrub is also great, you can use it on your face and body.
I only live about 5 minutes away, so I could be okay. I just feel dumb in there because I don’t know what to do. LOL!
“Buffy” is my favorite from Lush. It’s an exfoliater that leaves lotion (Shea butter maybe?) on your skin after and it’s fabulous! I also like their Big shampoo. It has sea salt in it.
Thanks! I will check it out!
Makes sure that you try Ibotta app as well. Just like Checkout but also offers cash back on restaurants, certain clothing stores, Toys R Us, as well as grocery stuff!
Here’s my referral link. http://Ibotta.com/r/QWQqw
I have ibotta. I just haven’t been able to get into it. Have you saved a lot?
Sooo 19 kids and counting is so interesting to me. i don’t watch the show since we don’t have cable although I think most episodes are actually on youtube, but they do have a blog where they recap their episodes and talk about stuff not shown on the episodes. Of course I read it and the 4 older girls just wrote a book about the courting process that I’m on the waiting list for the library to read(I don’t think it is actually out yet though). Checkout 51 is amazing I like it a ton better than ibotta because you just take a pic of your receipt and don’t have to actually scan items.
Yes, it seems way easier and something that I can actually do. I can’t handle individual scans. I forget!
Ohh, I would love to read that book. I need to check my library!
Buy Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner! It’s one of my holy grail products!
I use checkout 51. Haven’t gotten a check yet because I haven’t reached 20$ yet. But it is super easy. They have different offers each week.
How much do you think you save a week?
I only but minimal groceries for myself but I used 50 cents off strawberries and peeps. There is always a coupon for milk. It’s not a lot of money but all you have to do is take a picture.
I have the Checkout 51 app. Super easy and similar to ibotta. I should be getting a 20.00 check in the mail in a few days.
Good to know!!!
Oh look, I’ll bite, cause I just made a Lush order a couple days ago! Even if you don’t care about bath bombs, the Big blue is my hands down favorite ever bath bomb they make. Dragon’s egg bath bomb is fun for the novelty.
The tea tree toner tabs are actually pretty impressive. I like their masks, especially love lettuce, but I can never use it all before the expiration date. I have been happy and surprised that the uh..ok they just stopped making it again, it was a retro product bar hair shampoo of theirs that is just fantastic but I guess you will never know and I wont be able to reorder!
Do they still sell shampoo bars at all?
They still have all the shampoo bars, this one was the Reincarnate solid
shampoo and has some
henna in it. I happen to like it more than all their other shampoo bars, super shine!
I skipped Julep this month but fully customizable boxes sound amazing! I always end up with one or two colors I don’t like and way too many add ons!
And I have been obsessed with this season of 19 kids so far! I did a little reading on some of the beliefs the Duggar family has and they’re kind of in a really scary cult, but the awkward courting stuff is just too much for me to look away! I can’t imagine my parents being in on every phone call, text message, and face to face encounter I had with my boyfriends!
Ugh I can’t imagine either. Those kids are always so well behaved and respectful though. They must be doing something right!
I second Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, I’m not good at all about using lotion so this works well for me. You put it on in the shower let it soak in and then rinse off and pat dry. It smells so good, I had to get the matching limited edition perfume and shower gel during the holidays. The “Let the good times roll” facial cleanser smells and works really great and the shine so bright split end balm has saved my friend’s daughter’s broomstick hair (smells awful though, but I think most of their stuff smells bad).
I will check it all out! Thanks!
I love Tea Tree Water if you’re in search for a new toner and mint julep lip scrub (I like this best because it tastes like thin mints kinda, and leaves your breath freshened). I’ve heard that Lovely Jubblies, its a breast firming cream, is actually a really good under eye cream, and next time I go to lush I’m planning on getting lemony flutter cuticle butter, I think that’s the name, I have heard amazing things about it!
I just love the names of all these things!
I’m in my 2nd week with Checkout 51. I’ve earned $2.75 back so far. I guess it replaces traditional coupons but it includes fresh produce as well as pantry/dry goods. This week my list featured milk, cucumbers, and stawberries, which are all things I buy anyway so it is pretty cool. I think it takes a while to get to the pay out level though, unless you make a point of buying all the products on your list.
And to answer your question about how much you save per week with it… zero. You don’t get point of sale rebates like with coupons. Instead you accumulate cash back like with ebates.
Oh no, that’s what I meant. I just worded it wrong!
Ohh Lush! Definitely check out a sugar scrub (I love them all but Mint Juleps is my everyday fave) and a fresh face mask. Also great are Buffy, Sympathy for the Skin lotion and Lovely Jubblies (it’s actually a nice firming cream for everywhere!).
Thank you!
So much information here…..
1. How have I never heard of Lush? However, I shall not be seeking it out in my mall to see if they have it – sounds like I’d spend WAY too much money there 🙂
2. I may have to check out this CheckOut 51 thing if it includes fresh produce…..I never even look at those things because generally its the prepackaged stuff that I try to stay away from.
3. Obsessed a bit with 19 Kids and Counting…..its awkward….and interesting because its so different then my way of life. Some times I wonder if life is just easier not having to worry about a career and having such a set of rules to live by. Anyway – I’m 36 and still not married and still don’t even tell my parents when I’m dating someone until it hits at least the 6 month mark and never have – lol. So, yep, completely different world.
It’s so awkward. I feel like such a creeper. And when they talk about kissing. Ahhh, it’s just too much.
Try Angels on Bare Skin! And I love the mint lip scrub! And yes, they have shampoo bars which are great. Have fun! Oh, and if you ask, you can get a sample of something!
Awesome! Thanks!
checkout51 is good, but I found Ibotta is so much better! Checkout51 always seems to have issues with the receipts I upload. Ibotta is super quick, pays out through paypal and is easy to use. Check it out if you haven’t yet!
I have the app, but i am super lazy about it.
I’m all about the BIG shampoo by Lush- smells and feels amazing.
Awesome! My Lush list is so long now!
We’re big Lushies!
Aromaca
Therapy
Buffy
Dream Cream
Dream Wash
R&B
Sikkim Girls
Bubblegum lip scrub
Thanks for the recs!
Mask of Magnaminty is great! When I use the Sea Salt Scrub in unison with the mask my skin feels baby smooth!! Fair warning. The Sea Salt is $$$. So I bought the small one. Also they don’t tell you but you have to mix the sea salt before use. All the salt is on top (I did not know this). Honey I washed the kids is a great bar soap. I concur on the mint julep lip scrub but the bubblegum smells good too. Just depends on what you like. I was to try buffy after reading the above comments. I have heard good things about the cuticle lotion too. But MOST importantly this will give you samples of anything you want. Just ask. That way you can buy a couple things and then try a lot more. With Lush I feel like the initial trip will be a lot of money but then restocking won’t be so bad 🙂
I didn’t know that gave samples. That makes it even better!
I was skeptical of the plie wand from the beginning. Now that they have changed or released more information on it, it sounds like less of a hassle. I have been toying with the idea of canceling julep, but was waiting to see how I like the plie wand first. The colors this month are good so after months of skipping I am upgrading this month.
I’m not sure how I feel about the new customize programs. I may still cancel or just stay active and skip unless something special catches my eye. If I cancel it will be for good as I will leave my skip function.
I know, I can never cancel now because I do not want to lose my skip ability!!! And I really need to see this pile wand myself. I cannot totally grasp how it’s used.
So confused about the Pli? wand, all the caps and wand and brushes. Idk I think once I see it I’ll understand it better but for now I’m thinking it seems like a lot of parts just a to paint your nails better. LOL.
On another Julep note…don’t know if you already knew about this but they have discontinued the free polish for taking your box three months in a row. I was suppose to be getting a free polish email after the March box but never received anything. I emailed them about it and they said they weren’t going to be doing that going forward. I didn’t really get an explanation on why. But there wasn’t any email sent notifying the ending of the three in a row free polish to the long time Julep Mavens that qualified for it…at least not that I was aware of seeing. Anyways…Customer service ending up giving me 200 Jules as a sorry, so that was pretty nice of them.
No, I did not know that about the free polishes! They should have sent an e-mail!
And seriously, the pile wand / caps. So confusing.
