Mary’s Secret Ingredients, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a limited edition culinary surprise box containing unique gourmet, artisanal ingredients along with small kitchen products. Boxes are sent once season and are limited to the first 100 subscribers.

The Box

Mary’s Secret Ingredients usually ships by the 25th of the month in which shipments occur.  Meaning the April box shipped on 4/25, the June box will ship on 6/25, etc.

First Look

Everything was so securely wrapped I couldn’t see much from the first look.  I thought the packaging was great though

Real First Look

Now I can see something!  Everything looked great and I was getting hungry just looking at it all!

The Information Card

Mary’s Secret Ingredients includes a great information card which has product information and a little history on the company behind the products.  In addition, you can also go to their blog to get recipes and serving ideas for all of the products in the box.

~Calmer Sutra Tea Ginger Infused Honey ($10.99):  This honey is from Australia and is blended with ginger root. I haven’t seen a recipe idea for this one yet, but I suspect it will be much better than my idea of just putting it on toast.

~Calmer Sutra Tea Peppermyntle Tea ($6.39): This refreshes your mind, settles an upset stomach and helps restore balance at the end of a long day.

~Flathau’s Fine Foods Chipotle Cheese Straws ($3.95): I opened these right away and WB and I both approved!  They have a great amount of kick to them without being too much or too little.

~Harmonian Oregano From Wildcrafted Plants ($11.13): This comes from Italy and is collected by hand from plants in Pindos’ cliffs.  B will most certainly appreciate this fancy spice and I look forward to seeing the recipe ideas for this!

~Loacker Quadratinis (Hazelnut) ($3.71): I love wafer cookies and these are fabulous!  Hopefully I can find these at my local gourmet market because I totally want to try the Dark Chocolate ones.

~Neuske’s Applewood Smokes Landjaeger Sausages ($4.49): I don’t think B has seen these yet, but once he does, it will be all over.  LOL!  Sausage, combined with the fact that it’s made in Wisconsin (about an hour and a half from where B grew up), will make these a total winner.  I bet the Smoked Tomato Soup recipe is amazing, but I doubt B will be able to resist eating these out of the package.  Plus, we ate most of the cheese straws ;).

~Sweetwater Spice Company Pineapple Habanero Jerk BBQ Brine ($8.99): This is probably what I am most interested in, but haven’t been able to taste yet. I am going to wait and see what recipe is posted for this one and then decide what to make with it!

All totaled I came up with a value of $49.65 for the Spring 2014 Mary’s Secret Ingredients box.  This box is $25.95, so the value was almost double the cost of the box!  I was very impressed with this one and cannot wait to see what the Summer box brings!

What do you think of Mary’s Secret Ingredients?  The Spring Box is sold out, but the other boxes for 2014 (Summer, Fall & Winter) are still available and will ship in June, September and November, respectively! If you are interested in ordering, click here and get signed up!
