June 2014 Mystery Chocolate Box Review

Mystery Chocolate Box, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a new way to sample chocolate while enjoying more family time. Each month Mystery Chocolate Box will send you three chocolate bars that have been hand-selected for your enjoyment. The wrappers on the bars have been removed, so the ingredients are a mystery. As you enjoy your chocolates you can guess what you think is in it and there are prizes awarded if you guess all three correct.

The Box

Mystery Chocolate Box ships via USPS Priority Mail.  My box took two days to arrive, which is the normal for Priority Mail.

The boxes are packed with a cold pack and they indicate that if you have any problems with a melted bar, just pop it in the fridge because it doesn’t bother the taste at all.

The Information Card

The Mystery Chocolate Box includes an information card about the box, tasting instructions (which a blank space on the back to write down your thoughts and guessed) and a little card with Allergy Information.  We don’t have any allergy issues here, so I am not sure how I would feel about trying mystery foods if I did.

Here is what was included (along with B’s thoughts) on the June 2014 Mystery Chocolate Box:

~Bar A: B described this one as “citrusy” with bits of what seemed to be sugar crystals inside.  He liked it well enough, but it wasn’t his favorite.  Guess: Chocolate and Love – Orange

~Bar B:  B described bar B has tasting like a Hazelnut chocolate and having some sort of nuts in it.  He liked this one second best.  Guess: Theo Salted Almond – 70% Dark Chocolate

~Bar C: B really liked this one and described it as milk chocolate with peanuts in it.  I think he ate nearly half of this one.  It was totally his favorite.  I couldn’t find a bar that fit this description from this brand, so I am going out on a limb on this one.  Guess: Devine Chocolate 38% Milk Chocolate with Toffee and Sea Salt.

B had a great time sampling these bars and I had a great time guessing the Mystery Chocolate Box bars based on his descriptions.  I used the the imprints on the bars to guess the brand of the chocolate and then used B’s descriptions to narrow it down a bit.  I have no idea if I am right, but I am looking forward to their reveal so we can see how we did!

  1. ohhh are you being all clean eaty? btw i am pretty sure you are 100% wrong on all your guesses! but that wouldn’t be hard based on going off tasting notes. you guys went for the extreme guessing version!

What do you think they are??

The Theo imprint really gives them away. If you ever make it out to Seattle, you can tour their factory. My son Will and I really enjoyed that the summer of 2012.

Oh I love that kind of thing!!!

I love the idea of this – a monthly box full of chocolate goodies? Heck, yeah! But, the price kills it for me. If it were $15, I’d be able to justify it.

      LOL! I can’t wait!!!
