PetBox, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly subscription box for pets (dogs or cats) that allows you to select what items you wish to receive in your box!  They are (I believe) the only box out there that allows you to do this. You get six “points” to spend to build your box with whatever you choose.  You can also opt for a “Surprise Me” box in which PetBox will hand-select your items for you. You can opt for a dog box, a cat box, or a combination dog / cat box. I receive the “Surprise Me” Dog Box to review on a monthly basis.

PetBox ships within 48 hours of ordering and says to expect your box in ten business days or less (depending on your location).

With the “Surprise Me” option, PetBox selects your items for you, however, they typically send more than the six credits allotted if you pick your own items in the “Surprise” boxes.  PetBox indicated that the amount of “points” included in the Surprise box option depends on their inventory for the month.

PetBox doesn’t include an information card, but my box contained the following items for Baxter and Buddy:

~Petkin Pet Wipes ($5.99) (1 point):  Fabulous!  Buddy is pretty much obsessed with hunting for toads in our flower beds (which is so annoying) and he gets filthy.  I am constantly cleaning his paws so these are perfect for us right now.

~coco Therapy Fruit Crunch ($9.99) (2 points): I can’t find these on the PetBox site so I just took a guess that they were 2 points.  They actually look like people food.  The ingredients are organic fruits and coconut oil and they are human grade, so honestly they could be people food if you wanted.

~Yummy Paws Spale Power Bites ($5) (1 point): I am going to save these spale bites for my brothers big dogs!  Baxter and Buddy won’t enjoy them as much as they will and the big dogs can always use some more treats.

~innovet BioPel Spray ($8.99) (1 point): I am going to bring this one up-north for the furries.  We don’t have a ton of bugs or anything around here (probably because we have so few trees), but it’s crazy up-north.

~Dingo Market Cuts Chicken Jerky ($3.98) (1 point): These jerky strips are a huge hit with the dogs and I swear, they can gobble them up before I even close the bag.   I will be using the coupon on this one for more.

~Aussie Naturals Dolphin ($6.99) (1 point): I swear we used to have something like this.  It looks like a stuffed toy, but it’s got a water bottle inside so it makes that crinkly sound my dogs love!

All totaled I came up with a value of $40.94 (or 7 points) for the June 2014 PetBox!  Like I mentioned before, PetBox has said that the “Surprise Me” option may have more than 6 points in it depending on their inventory for the month. But with the custom option you will get exactly what you want so it’s up to you which direction you want to go in.  PetBox is $39/month, but it drops down to $29/month with a 12 month subscription.  For whatever reason the pet subscription boxes seem to have the biggest / best discounts for annual subscriptions so I tend to go that route with them myself!

I get Petbox too, but I was very flustered with this month’s box. The fruit crunch treats were ripped open and spewed treats all over the box, so I contacted Petbox figuring they could just send me a new bag, and I was told “stop worrying, the treats should be fine” and they wouldn’t replace the damaged bag. This seems *very* unprofessional to me, and this is the last time I think I’ll be affiliated with them after my subscription ends.

That’s too bad ;(. I wouldn’t like opened treats either!

I have not been impressed with my Pet box, I have been selecting the items myself and find that not many things are for Toy Breeds and have not been impressed with most of the treats or toys :/
