The furries were really excited yesterday when their July 2014 Barkbox arrived! I get a lot of boxes, but I swear they know this one is theirs. Seriously.
If you aren’t familiar, BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs! Each monthly box contains a combination of 4-6 treats, toys, and hygiene products that have been hand selected and approved by Scout, head product tester for BarkBox. We have been getting Barkbox since I found a Groupon for them over two years ago and haven’t looked back!
Barkbox ships via DHL Global Mail and took six days to arrive. Last month it took three. You just never know. I was so excited to get the goodies out of this box that I forgot to take a first look picture! Oops!
The July 2014 Barkbox is a treasure chest of seashore inspired goodies. Barkbox included the following items to bring your pups some new friends and and new favorites right from the bottom of the ocean:
~P.L.A.Y. Clam Toy ($10): I have got to start putting away some of these toys for Baxter and Buddy. Or at least cleaning out their toy bin and tossing the icky ones. I gave this to the them and they just kind of looked at me like are you sure this is for us? To their credit it does kind of look like a kids stuffed animal.
~Loopies Corduroy Whale Toy ($10): Now this the boys knew was theirs. I guess they realize that the kids don’t have any toys with this material? Not sure. They didn’t play with it too much, but once one of the kids wants to play tug of war with them I’m sure it will be on.
~PetSafe Indigo Triple Chews ($10): I can’t tell if the dogs liked these or not. I gave them each one, but they ran off to separate corner of the house and who knows what happened next. Baxter has a tendency to store things in under pillows or in the corners of the couch, so who knows where these are.
~Think! Dog Louisiana Crab Jerky ($7): These smell horrible, but of course the boys went crazy for them. They are super small so they are great for the big boys (L and WB) to give to the dogs as they have a tendency to pass out multiple treats at once. A few of these is better than a few of some of their other much larger treats!
~Mr. Barksmith’s Pina Colada Smoothie ($2): These little Cool Treats are always a huge hit with Baxter and Buddy. I don’t know that they have a favorite flavor (it’s probably hard to have a favorite when you can’t taste it because you are eating too fast), but if I were a dog in the summer, I think I’d be happy with Pina Colada.
All totaled I came up with a value of $39 for the July 2014 Barkbox box! This seems to be a bit higher value than many of their recent boxes and that makes me happy. I am for sure going to need to find more of that dog jerky because I think they are addicted!
Do you subscribe to BarkBox? What’d you think of this month’s box? If you want to subscribe or learn more, click here. A monthly subscription is $29/month, but if you opt for a longer subscription, the price drops as low as $18/month (that’s what I get)! And you can use the code “RAMBLING” save 15% off ANY subscription plan which would make it an even better deal!
This box looks great. Can’t wait to get ours in the mail. I hope we get the clam toy. It’s so cute.
Report back on what you get!
I get the medium box and it arrived with the same indigo chew and smoothie. Then, I got a stuffed shark (super cute), chicken breast jerkey treats, and instead of another toys a bully stick of sorts. I’m interested for my dogs to try the indigo chews…they seem different lol Always happy with barkbox though!
ha. They are different! I seriously wonder where my dogs have them hidden!
I requested the large boxx when I subscribed, and I got the same exact things in my box that you did… hmmm.
Do you currently have a favorite subscription box for dogs? I know there are a bunch out there
I always like Barkbox. It probably helps that it’s only around $20/month because I do the extended subscription!
I’ve seen the jerky at PetSmart; it comes in different flavors too.
I wish I had gotten those stinky Think crab treats! We got the alligator ones in a past box and my dogs went absolutely nuts for it! Instead we got Bixbi chicken jerky treats this month. Not quite as exciting as crab but honestly I think any meat treat is good enough for them.
My dogs go nuts for anything jerky related!
The big dog one was great! This is our first one after a long break because the large boxes weren’t offering durable toys. I think they did a really great job this month for large dogs. Ours came with some chewable gummie type treats, liver banana treats, a really durable Nylabone chew that is weirdly shaped and really good for big dogs, along with my favorite…. a stuffed toy that is a butt. Literally! LOL! R2P Monkey Silly Bum – google it! It’s a monkey’s butt. 🙂
OMG that is awesome!!!!
Your dog toys are cute.
Box 2 from the Groupon Deal. So far so good. USPS surprised me by delivering it a day early. The dogs and cats were excited. In a medium -size dog box we received:
1. Harry Parker Play Shark Large Toy – My small dog decided it was hers. It is the size of her body! My big dog will take it back later. This is a sturdy toy.
2. A Pizzle stick which is being saved for later.
3. Indigo Triple Chews medium size – Both dogs enjoyed them.
4. Cool Treats Pina Colada. My small dog ran off with it.
5. Bixbi Daily Essentials Chicken Breast Jerky Treat. This must be what the cats were smelling. Both the cats and dogs had a treat.
That is a good box!
We got the Indigo triple chews and the smoothie, but everything else was different in our medium box. Waffles loved the triple chew, and it took her longer than usual to finish it. Like Baxter, she hid it first and didn’t eat it until she saw that I was a little too close to her hiding place. She’s not very good at hiding things and had it “hidden” in the corner of the room. in full view, instead of buried underneath anything. Such a silly girl!
oh Baxter is horrible at hiding too. He’d never survive in the wild. I still love that your dog is named Waffles!
My two pups are going to eat the mailman if he doesn’t bring theirs soon! Barkbox was our first subscription box and to this day the pupalups think all boxes are their barkbox! I’m happy to see the smoothie, we have one in the freezer and it will be a good thing for camping for the pups on a warm day. The toys, yeah they’ll be destroyed as always…
what kind of dogs do you have? My dogs need to get a little tougher on their toys. LOL! Ours last forever!
We have a fox red lab and a brindle boxer Wheaton mix
The boxer wouldn’t have been puppy destructo but the lab showed him
Oh man i got the big dog box with the monkey butt too! It was a strange mix of weird and awesome but I love it…everyone that didn’t get one should order for themselves 🙂
I heard about that monkey butt! I wouldn’t mind getting one down the road someday for my furries!
Leilah was super excited for her box!!! Surfs up, Pup was a great theme!!! We have the larger dog box, which included a Loopie’s Fish Bones toy, Chicken breast jerky Treats (Bixibi essentials), Healthy Dogma Coconut treats, Etta Says Duck Chew (looks like a large bully stick), and the Pina Colada Smoothie!!!!!
This is our second month (group for 6 months) and we are a lot happier with this month’s then last months box. Last month looked like a repeat because it was not the same theme as you. And this month we got 5 things and a 39 dollar value.
Kristen and Leilah
I love love love Bark Box. I have been getting Bark Box for over a year and I look forward to it every month. I totally think that it is worth the money considering you get full sized treats, which are very expensive instore. Also there are usually 2 toys included. I have four small dogs and they share a bark box for the month. They loved the indigo bones and the crab treats (although you are right, they smell horrible) I subscribe to a couple of other monthly boxes (beauty boxes) and each month I am dissappointed by them. I am never dissappointed by Bark Box.
