NewBeauty TestTube is one of those boxes that I got “just to try” for a month and then ended up keeping!  I love when that happens because it means I got a fabulous box, but I swear it’s always my intention to just try them ;).

If you aren’t familiar, TestTube is an exclusive, one-of-a-kind sampling program that enables members the opportunity to try a variety of the latest breakthrough beauty products before investing in them, and then share their feedback about the products. Six times a year, for just $29.95 (plus shipping and handling), subscribers receive a TestTube filled with deluxe and full-size products from the hottest beauty brands. Members will also receive a subscription to NewBeauty magazine, delivered quarterly. I should note that this is different than QVC New Beauty Test Tube, which is a quarterly subscription.

NewBeauty TestTube ships via FedEx Smart Post and took five days to arrive.

First Look

As you know I get a lot of boxes, but I swear NewBeauty TestTube has some of the cutest packaging out there.  Not only are the boxes hot pink, but the inside is a fun print and everything is always so nicely packaged.

The actual products come in a “test tube” which is also quite cute. I need to figure out what I can reuse these for because I do hate throwing them away.  Maybe for legos or paint brushes for the kids?  That could work.

The Information Book

NewBeauty TestTube doesn’t have just an information card.  Rather they have a little booklet (actually a big booklet) that gives product information, price information, details on where to buy, etc.  It’s awesome.  Here is what was included in my July 2014 NewBeauty TestTube:

~Laura Geller Waterproof Eye Spackle Hues Advanced Primer & Eyeshadow (Mauve Majesty) ($23): Totally love the product, but the color?  Not so much.  I actually think this is just about the color of my eyelids.  LOL.  It’s a fun twist up pen and went on nice and smooth, but it didn’t really look like “enough”.

~Philosophy Hope in a Jar Skin Smoothing Body Lotion ($12.82): I have always been a big fan of Philosophy stuff.  I think it’s because of the cool the bottles and labeling.   This lotion smells great (I can’t think of one thing from Philosophy that doesn’t) and goes on hydrates well.

~Lumene Time Freeze Firming Night Cream ($7.50): The information booklet actually says the tube has “Lumene Time Freeze Anti-Age CC Color Correcting Cream”, but I received a night cream instead. I don’t mind the difference, but I did wonder why my CC cream was a pot.  According to one sight I saw, this is good for those around of the age of 45+.  Hmm.  Maybe TestTube is trying to tell me something?

~Bliss Soapy Suds Body Wash + Bubbling Bath (Blood Orange + White Pepper) ($2.25): Love.  I already have the full sized one in my cart at Sephora.  It smells amazing, made my skin soft and did I mention that it smelled good?  This is a complete yes!

~Yon-ka Pamplemousse (Normal to Oily Skin) ($56): Wow!  I had no idea that this was such an expensive item.  This is to be used after your cleanser in the morning and at night. I think I am going to try pairing this with the serum I have been using to see if I can get a more noticeable difference.

~Dove Advanced Hair Series – Oxygen Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner (~$1): I’m not overly excited by these, but I am not overly annoyed either.  They will certainly get used and I might end up stashing them in my travel bag in case the hotel I am staying at doesn’t have good stuff.  Disney has H20 stuff which is great, but they have a shampoo / conditioner 2-in-1 which I don’t love.  I certainly could have used this while I was there.

~Biosilk Color Therapy Lock and Protect ($12.50): I need to get more hair.  LOL.  I have so many hair products that I want to use up before I open a new product.   Ahh, what to do!  I like that this is a leave-in treatment and I am sure I will crack and open this over the weekend.

All totaled I came up with a value of $115.07 for the July 2014 NewBeauty TestTube, which is tripe the cost of the tube!  I didn’t wow me like my first month (March) did, but it’s also not enough to make me cancel either!  I was disappointed though that this tube didn’t have the little “Beauty To Go” bag that usually comes with it.  Fingers crossed it will be back in September!

I cheated and looked at this – yay, I love it! This is my first month subscribing. Do you get tracking or anything when they mail your box? They charged my cc last week but I haven’t received an email. Wasn’t sure of the process and didn’t see anything on their FAQs.

    1. Jennifer

Yes, you will get a shipping notification! I would imagine it will be coming soon??

So many hair products!! Have any favorites- I’m going back to my natural blonde (from the red red I’ve been for about a year) and my hair is sooooo dry. I need a good hair mask/leave-in/something!

    Hi Jenn-

This is definitely something I would love to try.. if you have any codes, or such , can you toss one my way.. a teachers salary only goes so far.. and well.. classess start again soon..

Do you know of ANY subscriptions that would work for a classroom environment in the grade school sciences or learning projects.. I recall seeing something about one, but can’t recall the names.

    Thanks,

    K

I was also disappointed about not getting the Beauty To Go bag. I really do like the Test Tube concept, but mine had some different items. I received a SmileActives tooth Whitening Pen, Ole Henriksen Eye Lift Gel, Algenist Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser, and the Lumene CC Cream. I did not get the Philosophy, Pamplemousse, Bliss Soapy Suds, or Lumene Night Cream. I didn’t realise that Test Tube had so many variations! My Tube arrived here 2-3 weeks ago…

    1. Jennifer

I didn’t realize there were so many variations either! Yours came so fast!

      1. Lisa

Mine was the same as hers. I like the lumene cc cream but it was in the last one. And I already received the smile pen too. I was disappointed in this one. I have been getting them since last fall. This one made me consider dropping out.
