Inside the outer envelope was the actual Official Jerky bag.  I knew that B would be interested in this box, so I made sure to open it on a bad he was home.

The Information Card

The July 2014 Official Jerky artisan was Carnivore Candy and instead of the normal 2-3 flavors, this month included four different flavors!  Here are our thoughts on them:

~Carnivore Candy (Orange Teriyaki) ($3.50): Probably my favorite of the bunch.  It was more sweet than spicy which I liked.  B likes his jerky to taste like meat though.  This had a lot of flavor to it.

~Carnivore Candy (Barbecue Mesquite) ($6.99):  Again, I would say this was more sweet than spicy.  I have a nasty cold so my taste buds are probably a little off.  But it was good.

~Carnivore Candy Bacon Jerky (Spicy Sriracha Style) ($6.99): I don’t know why, but I was surprised this really did taste like bacon.  I guess I just wasn’t expecting it to be so crispy?  Not sure.  But this was spicy.  Totally not for me.

~Carnivore Candy (Sweet Picante) ($6.99): This was another one that I just didn’t love.  Or even really like.  B will eat it, but that tiny piece I tried was enough for me!  It’s just too much flavor.  I suspect some people think that’s a good thing.  But not me.

All totaled I came up with a value of $24.47 for the July 2014 Official Jerky box.  With shipping this selection (it serves 1) is $14.99, which is a very good deal (oops, I didn’t realize I had gotten a different option) is $29.99.  Not as amazing of a deal as I first thought, but I also don’t know where you could buy these locally either.  If you are a jerky lover, I totally recommend try this out.  You might not love every flavor, but it’s certainly fun to give some new ones  try!
