Our August 2014 bluum box arrived yesterday afternoon and I was happy to take a break from cleaning out the kid’s sandbox toys to open it up!
If you aren’t familiar, bluum (who acquired Stork Stack a few months back), is a monthly box of goodies for moms and babies. Products are hand selected based on your child’s age (from pregnancy to preschool), gender and developmental stage.
bluum ships via FedEx Smart Post and took the standard week to arrive. I have no idea how Smart Post does it, but it always takes a week for boxes to get to me. No matter what location they are coming from.
I didn’t recognize anything in my first look which was awesome! I love getting brand new (to me) things to discover in subscription boxes.
bluum sends out boxes which include products are based on your child’s age, gender and developmental stage and don’t do a themed box. Products in the monthly boxes still change from month to month, so if you are expecting a 32 Month-Old (we have WB aged up (*)) box next month it will likely be different. Heck, it might even be different if you received a 31-month old box this month. Here is what our August 2014 bluum box included:
~My Little Word Book ($8.49): I swear I received this book before. Maybe even from bluum? I need to go back and look! It’s possible that WB has destroyed it because I don’t know where it’s ay so I suppose we needed a replacement. And now that he can actually say all these words, it’s much more helpful.
~Child’s Play Sleepover Book ($5.39): WB has slept in lots of places other than his own house, but I guess they wouldn’t be considered sleepovers since I have always been there. But it will happen and when it does we’ll read this!
~Getting My First Haircut Book ($4.49): I would assume that most children have gotten their first haircuts by the time they are 2.5, but maybe not? WB barely even has any hair and he’s already gotten a haircut, so I guess I thought everyone had? Either way this book has stickers which are a score and will probably come in handy before trips to the salon.
~Funny Faces My Little Pocket Library Book Set ($5.39): Cute books and we will be taking these with us this weekend! WB and L are always down for some new reading material in the car and these are super cute.
~Soothie Suckers Freezable Pops ($8.99): So these are suppose to be a natural and fun way to help boost your immune system. I popped them in the freezer right away and we will be testing them as soon as someone says they need a popsicle next. They also have Nasal Support ones which I would also love to try!
~blum Naturals Daily Cleansing Wipes ($6.99): How could bluum not include these blum wipes? It was a meant to be. While they aren’t overly exciting, I am happy with the wipes. I end up using them most nights because I am too lazy to do anything else!
All totaled I came up with a value of $39.74 for the August 2014 bluum box. And while the value for this box was totally there, it didn’t wow me. It was mainly books which we love and all, but I expect more variety since it’s not a book subscription. Hopefully next month we get a better mixture of items.
