GLOSSYBOX, who kindly sent me this box to review, is a monthly beauty subscription box. It costs $21/month and includes five luxury surprise beauty items shipped to your door. I LOVE GLOSSYBOX and am consistently impressed at the value they pack into the boxes. They also do the best collaborations. They did a collaboration with Bergdorf Goodman a few months ago and they have also done collaborations with Dallas Shaw, The Man Repeller and Bydrie in the past just to name a few!
GLOSSYBOX ships via USPS and took about five days to arrive this month. For whatever reason it shipped later than normal. The GLOSSYBOX I purchased this month has yet to arrive.
I probably don’t need to show you what the GLOSSYBOX box looks like, but if you are new to GLOSSYBOX, well, it’s fabulous. I use all my old GLOSSYBOX boxes to make gift boxes for friends and let my friend’s teenage daughters fill up an empty GLOSSYBOX with samples when they come over.
August marked GLOSSYBOX‘s third anniversary and I thought it was cute that they did a special sticker to note it.
The August 2014 GLOSSYBOX information card was much larger than normal. I don’t know if this is a temporary thing for their anniversary or if they will be like this going forward. I did love reading the note from the CEO in which he shared that over 6 million boxes have been sent out to GLOSSYBOX subscribers throughout the world. That is incredible! Here is what the August 2014 box included:
~Kryolan for GLOSSYBOX Highlighter in Cashmere ($18.95): This is a special product made just for GLOSSYBOX. I actually received a sneak peek of this a few weeks ago to test out. I apply it with my fingers on my cheekbones and it gives a nice shimmer / glow. You can also use it on your eyes and lips.
~SpaRitual Explore Color Collection (Navigate) ($12): I guess I didn’t pay too much attention when I saw the spoilers for this month’s GLOSSYBOX because I was expecting a matte polish. This is way better. SpaRitual’s formula is great and this color is gorgeous!
~Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner ($8): Meh. Honestly if I never received another eyeliner again it would be too soon. I just never wear it. I don’t think I go anywhere that really calls for eyeliner often enough I guess? I will pass this on to a friend though. And maybe try and talk her into showing me how to use a liquid eyeliner just in case I ever need to know.
~Uberliss Hydrating Shampoo ($3.98) & Conditioner ($4.32): Shampoo and conditioner are never the most exciting samples for me to get, but they are one of the most used. I also appreciate that they included both because one of my pet peeves is when you only get a sample of one or the other. How are you suppose to tell if you like it?
~Eslor Firming Collagen Day Cream ($17): I have tried this cream in the past, but I’ve never gotten a sample large enough to tell me if it really did what it was suppose to do (which is reduce the signs of aging). I will use this till it runs out though and that should give me a good idea on if I want to trade for more.
All totaled I came up with a value of $64.25 for the August 2014 GLOSSYBOX. It wasn’t my favorite box from them (it’s going to be hard to top the Bergdorf box), but I’m cool with it. And I am very anxious to receive the September box which is a collaboration with Harper’s BAZAAR and looks to be amazing!

I always think its so funny to read about your reactions to eyeliner. I picked this box especially for the liquid eyeliner. Once you learn to use liquid, you’ll never go back to regular pencil. It’s so much easier, like painting, honestly. Now when I try to use a pencil, it almost hurts, haha.
Whenever i’m on the swap site I try to swap for liquid eyeliners too. Love them.
I never use a pencil liner either!
I love Glossy but I HATE how long it takes them to ship! Still waiting on my August box!
Oh liquid is soooo much easier. My mom used it (well, it was the 60s) so it’s the first liner I learned to use. I have a few pencils but never can get it to look as crisp as liquid. Did you notice the box is even nicer than usual? I received a redish nail polish and can’t wait to try it out this weekend! My piggies are looking very sad right now without polish!
Now I thought it was nicer too, but someone else said it was not as nice?? It seemed somehow more square and firm if that makes any sense at all.
I was somewhat impressed, same as you mentioned with shampoo/conditioner glad they sent both!! no use of just one or the other!
Totally!!!
I am new to sub boxes. I use nioxin due to my hair needs, what should I do when I get shampoos but still want my review points? Is there any way to NOT get shampoos?
GLOSSYBOX doesn’t do customized boxes. You can just review it and say you didn’t use it.
