Ramblings of a Suburban Mom

Today I’m smiling because:

~We had our first Halloween event of the season last night and it was a success. I couldn’t get WB in a costume at home (he wouldn’t even wear the pink crayon), but once we got there and he saw everyone else dressed up and people started handing him candy, he was down for it. And L? OMG he got so many compliments on his Steve costume. It was a huge hit!

Halloween Fun!
Halloween Fun!

~L is just flat out happy at school and that makes me smile. He doesn’t complain about having to get up, he doesn’t complain about doing homework and he is happy to go see all his friends everyday. I love it.

~I found the Michigan State Jell-O Mold! I realize this isn’t very exciting, but it will very fun for us to make today for the game. #gogreen

Yes!

~WB’s language skills have exploded. I don’t even think he was saying Mama last year at this time and now he’s talking non-stop in sentences. It’s amazing.

~My girl Jen (aka Advocarerunner) is running the Columbus Marathon on Sunday! Run Jen Run!

~I am going to finish Gone Girl this weekend!  And hopefully I will get a chance to see the movie while it’s still on theaters.

~My October PopSugar Box has shipped!

~And of course, I am smiling because it’s the weekend!  Which means more family fun and sleeping in!

That’s it from here!  What’s got you smiling today?

    Hey Jen,
Is the subscription number on the Popsugar box still activating back door ship tracking? Nobody seemed to know on MUT. Just curious. 🙂

Maybe now that he’s gotten some candy he will be more into it the next time. M is working a festival today but tomorrow is finish up the toilet costume and decorating day. N is beyond exciting. C just can’t decide what he wants to be. There are a couple things starting next weekend so maybe he will get to be more then one costume too.

    1. Jennifer

I cannot wait to see the costume!

I think he’ll be into it now that he gets it.

I enjoyed looking at your pictures. We are enjoying my sister’s visit. Tonight we will learn how to make scrubs at Whole Food.

    1. Jennifer

Like doctors scrubs or is this a food?

      1. PA Anna

Bath scrubs! We learn how to make pumpkin spice bath scrubs.

OMG that makes so much more sense now.

E is going to be Little Red Riding Hood and this is her first year trick or treating (She’s 2). Not sure how well it will go over. Did you take WB to the store to pick his costume this year or buy a couple and let him pick? I’m guessing by next year E will want to pick her own costume and I’m trying to figure out if all those costumes would be too overwhelming.

    1. Jennifer

I picked Olaf for him and he didn’t approve so then I let him pick and he opted for a pink crayon. He was thrilled to try it on and then when it was time to go he freaked! I showed him a few other ones we had from when L was younger and he wasn’t having ANY of them. I finally picked the pirate because it was pants and a coat so it was not super costume like. However, once he calmed down, I did tell him that he’d get more candy if he wore his hat………. So he did 😉

How cute are the boys in their costumes?! My kids seem to think every day is Halloween — they are always in costumes around the house. So its almost NOT SPECIAL for trick or treating … except that strangers are dropping candy in their bag!

    1. Jennifer

      That is so cute though!

My daughter went through a language explosion too- it was crazy! It happened when she was a few months older than 2 and she went from barely talking at all to using complete sentences! Of course now that she’s 3 1/2 she never stops talking. Ever. Even in her sleep!

    1. Jennifer

Isn’t it nuts? A few months ago I was thinking he’d never talk!
