Two Questions today…..

~What, now closed, subscription box do you miss most? I was thinking about this last night as I was going through my subscription box list and realized how much I missed Goodies Co. (it was a snack box by Walmart Labs) For $7/month I don’t think you could beat that box! The Kids one (with the box you could color on) was great too.  Another one I miss is The Little Book Club (a kids subscription that sent 3 books monthly).  No boxes have really stepped in to replace either one of these, so that may be another reason why I miss them the most!

~Do you have any pets?  As you know we have Baxter (8) and Buddy (7).  Baxter is a 1/2 yorkie, 1/2 shih-tzu and Buddy is a yorkie.  They couldn’t be more different in personality (Baxter is calm, Buddy is NOT), but they would be lost without each other.  And we’d be lost without them.  We also have an assortment of unnamed fish.  L may have named them at one time, but no one knows their names now!  If you have dogs / cats / birds / fish / whatever, what kind are they and what are their names??

Can’t wait to hear your answers!

I haven’t been in the subscription box world long enough to remember any that have gone away so I can’t answer that question. But! We have two dogs and a cat! The cat is Karma (or Moo for some unknown reason) and she is a long-hair mix – all black with yellow eyes. The two dogs are Roxie (a pit/American bulldog mix) and Vinnie (pit/boxer/lab/who knows what else) and they are both rescues so we have only a vague idea of what they actually are/how old they are. They are ridiculously bonded – Roxie went in for surgery yesterday and Vinnie sat by the door all day and cried for her!

    1. Jennifer

      Oh no! Poor Vinnie ;(

  2. Erin

I miss the Goodie Box as well. We have a puggle (part beagle part pug) Murphy who is 7.

    1. Jennifer

      Puggles are adorable!

  3. Heather

I was literally just about to sign up for Goodies box when they stopped doing it. I have a 9 year old Miniature Dachshund named Lucy. She is a wild girl for sure and a total spoiled brat!

    1. Jennifer

It was such a great inexpensive box.

  4. Carrie Z

We have a King Charles/Shitzu mix named Gibson. (Named after Kirk gibson

    1. Jennifer

      I love it!

  5. Kyra

We have a cat named Bubba and a bearded dragon named Yoshi.

    1. Jennifer

      Bubba!

  6. Jen

We have two Corgi’s – PJ and Butch – PJ is older and wiser – she is the typical pembroke welsh corgi like the Queen keeps. Butch is younger and full of energy. He is fun to play games with and always up for anything. He is black and may be mixed with something else.

    1. Jennifer

Does PJ get annoyed with Butch?

      1. Jen

lol all the time – the funniest is when she is done playing with him, she gets all mean about it and he’s like “but you were just having fun!”

  7. Kelly

2 Boston terriers olive and lily, three chickens hazel, levi, and goldie, and a black cat lumen. All add joy to my life.

    1. Jennifer

I totally hear you! I don;t know what I would do without my dogs!

  8. Mandy B

We have a rescue cat that is part Russian Blue named Nittany.

    1. Jennifer

Are you a Penn State fan??

      1. Mandy B

I am! Both my husband and I are Penn State alumni.

  9. Jenny

I was just thinking of Goodies yesterday. We cleaned out the cabinet with all the reusable bags in there and the bag Goodies sent once was there. That box sent great items.

We have a cat name Kali and some fish. Unfortunately Hunter our blue lobster passed away last week. 🙁 The fish have names but they are all some form of Brobie, Bobby or Robby LOL N names them based on type so all the red are one name, yellow another etc. I don’t know them but he does.

    1. Jennifer

L just told me one of our fish’s name was dumbo. Umm, really? First I ever heard of that…

  10. Britney

We have a cockapoo (cocker spaniel/poodle mix) who is almost 12, his name is Moose… After Daryl “Moose” Johnston the former Dallas Cowboy, my love for the Boys runs deep, obviously. He’s out sweetheart and is just a love bug!
We have a rottweiler/black lab mix and he is turning 1 on December 7th… His name is Ricky Bobby. He is absolutley huge and seriously one of the most beautiful dogs I’ve ever had. 🙂
Then we have the forever-living fish (a guppy) that refuses to die, his name in Hans Solo. We had two others named Luke Skywalker and Jar Jar Binks, but Hans was a jerk and killed them

    1. Jennifer

Hans Solo does sound like a naughty fish!

  11. Sarah Plunk

I have a weenie dog named Duke, a Dorki (half Yorkie have dachshund) named Daisy. I also have a German Shepard named Enzo. He is a retired bomb dog that was injured and has been the best thing for my family!

    1. Jennifer

I need to see your dorkie! They are adorable! I bet Enzo is the nicest dog!

  12. Jill

    8yo boy scottie = Snidely
    5yo girl scottie = Daisy
    14yo boy Beagle = Walter
Plus a mama foster dog = O’Doul and her 6 puppies = Bear, Griz, Darby, buffy, Issabella, and Smithers

    1. Emily

That’s a full house! Love it!

    2. Beth

I love when I see beagles up into the teen years! My beagle is 10 but still acts like a puppy most days! 🙂

    3. Jennifer

OMG! You have your hands full!

  13. Crystal

We have a Boxer/Mastiff mix name Tyrion (Game of Throne fans here). He is a giant (100lb) baby. He’s a rescue & we estimate he’s about 4 years old.

    1. Jennifer

      He sounds sweet!

  14. mary m

I miss Goodie box too 🙁

We have a yellow lab named Dexter, a cat named Oregon, a snow leopard Gecko named Leo (or Leah as we found out it’s a girl. LOL) and we just added a hedgehog to our family named Oliver. His last name will be Pickle or Prickles, haven’t decided yet 😉

    1. Jennifer

Is Dexter named after the serial killer?

  15. Sneaky Burrito

I sort of miss Little Black Bag and I sort of don’t. I spent too much money there during the brief period I knew about it. And then I had shipping issues with them. It was fun, but I’m kind of glad it’s gone.

    Anyway, I have:

*One female Rottweiler, Nyx, who is 2 years old
*Cat #1: Mr. Kitty (male), shorthaired orange tabby, roughly 10 years old
*Cat #2: Madison (male), longhaired black cat, roughly 7 years old
*Cat #3: Monkey (male), longhaired tan and white cat, ? years old (8? I don’t know)
*Cat #4: Sneaky (female), shorthaired calico, ? years old (6? maybe?)
*2 cockatiels, 4 parakeets, and 3 zebra finches (the birds don’t have names because every time I name one, it dies almost immediately afterwards)
*1 Russian tortoise, male I think, ? years old (am guessing around 20-25 years old but I’ve only had him for 10 years; these guys can live to be 45-60)

I used to have a lot more but other than the dog, I haven’t gotten a new pet since 2009. I’m trying to cut back.

    1. Jennifer

I almost spit out my drink when you said you were trying to cut back on your pets! My brother and sister in law are known for rescuing animals and always tend to have quite a full house.

  16. Elizabeth

I miss Goodies the most. And no pets for us.

    1. Jennifer

      Goodies needs to come back!

  17. Rachel

We have 3 cats. Our old-lady (9yo) black kitty is Charlie. My daughter named her when she (daughter) was 3yo.

My partner and I adopted a kitten (we’re lesbians…it’s what we do instead of have babies 😉 *) who is now about 1.5 years old and named her Ottr. We call her “Boxy” most of the time (otterbox…)

About a month ago a coworker found a litter of abandoned kittens that were between 2-3 weeks old. I went to look at them and one of them adopted me. Her name is Scout and she’s about 7-8 weeks old now and totally nuts! I have never had a cat with so much energy!! She was bottle fed and a total mama’s girl.

*that was a joke, for those easily offended folks. 😉

    1. Rachel

oops, I forgot to add that Ottr is also an all-black cat. We have a thing for black cats.

Scout is a striped gray tabby. She’s so stinkin’ cute, which is probably why she gets away with so much :p

    2. Jennifer

      LMFAO. That made me laugh!

  18. Linnea

I’ve only been getting subscription boxes for a couple of years, so I haven’t had one that’s been discontinued.

We do have pets, though! 3 cats and a dog.
Micky (named after Micky Dolenz of the Monkees) is a 14 year-old, blue point Birman.
Karl is a 1 year-old, lilac point Birman.
Baykee is a 1 year-old, flame point Ragdoll mix.
Our dog, Fifi (we kept the name they gave her at the animal rescue) is a 4 year-old poodle mix.

    1. Jennifer

      Fifi is an awesome name!

  19. Erin

We have two furry kids – Franklin (1.5 and a mix maybe of a yorkie and something else, super weird looking) and Lucy (9 mo, lab beagle mix). They definitely rescued us!

I miss co-ed supply sooo much. I work in higher education and there are no other boxes that come close. I am trying out Doteable currently but they have terrible customer service/I can never get a hold of them so now I REALLY miss co-ed.

    1. Jennifer

I don’t know if I ever received a Co-Ed Supply box! I clearly should have though from the way you are describing it.

And I love that you said they rescued you guys!

  20. PA Anna

I thought I posted. Sorry if this shows up twice.

I haven’t been doing boxes long enough, but I did try signing up for Untoxicated Beauty when they were closing. October is their last month.

We have 2 dogs – Daisy the English Shepherd and Bella the Rat Terrier. We also have four cats – Garfield, Whiskers, Zelda and Link.

    1. Jennifer

      I love all those names!

  21. Beth

I haven’t been in the subscription box world long enough for any of mine to be discontinued yet.

I do have two furry babies – my beagle’s name is Lynyrd and he turns 10 next week (gotta find a recipe for a pup-cake for him! ;))! He’s a total lover and acts like a puppy most of the time! I also have a 2 year old bichon/havanese mix names Bo. He’s a crazy little guy full of energy but loves cuddling! The two of them are inseperable!

    1. Jennifer

That is so cute that they are so tight!

  22. Katrina

There are several boxes that I miss but the main one is probably Jungle Stand. It was such a unique experience!

    1. Jennifer

I always hoped they’d come back. It doesn’t look like it anymore does it?

  23. Mrs. L

Not really any subscriptions that I miss. The one food box years ago that went away I replaced with Hatchery and LOVE that much more.

We have two cats. I keep trying for three 🙂 We have “Tiggher” a large female black and white tabby who is 4 years old and a small female torty named “Pumpkin” (her foster parents named her that as she was found just before Halloween) who I call “Punky” and my husband calls “Pea”…she’s about 3.

    1. Jennifer

You could surprise him with one!

  24. Liz R.

I miss Little Black Bag. At this time we have 2 cats. Rusty (9 years old) is a huge Siamese mix and is shy. He has a beige coat with red points and clear blue eyes. We inherited Rusty. Then there is Graicee (4) a black and white long hair. She is a very sweet cat who has personality plus. Graicee was adopted from a shelter.

    1. Jennifer

I bet a lot of people miss LBB. I didn’t understand it for the longest time, but once it made sense it was really fun.

  25. Kathy

We have a 6-year-old career-changed yellow lab named Frisky, a 11-year-old rescue kitty named CC, and a 2-year-old kitty named Maki who was abandoned in our garage. We just lost our sweet rescue cat Mochi who was 14.

    1. Jennifer

I am so sorry about Mochi ;(

  26. Kristin

I miss the Goodies Box too. It didn’t always have stuff I liked in it, but it was a nice mix of snacks that I wouldn’t buy otherwise.

I have two cats right now and a dog on the way (my husband had to have a dog from a breeder instead of adopting. Believe me, I lectured him). Both of my cats are 9. One is a Ocicat/Snowshoe mix named Brix, who is way to smart for his own good. We have baby locks on everything and even have to make sure doors are locked. Our other cat is a Tuxedo cat named Kiwi. He have anxiety and OCD issues but I love him to pieces. The dog is going to be an English Mastiff and my husband is going to name her Jenny (he loves Forest Gump). He wants a dog from a breeder due to temperament and how large breed dogs are prone to joint issues. At least if he knows the family line, he knows what to expect. I still think we should have adopted a dog.

    1. Jennifer

Totally agree. I didn’t always like everything, but I liked trying it.

What do you think the cats will think of their new sister??

      1. Kristin

We did have a dog before and Brix was pretty ok with it but Kiwi as terrified. Charlie was super-duper though and we hope with a bit of a calmer dog, things will go better.

  27. Squinj

I have a miniature schnauzer who forgot he was supposed to be miniature and kept growing. Everybody thinks maybe he isn’t a miniature. He is a little black beast and named Parker James. He is terrified if thunder and lightening and fireworks but aside from that is a happy go lucky friendly dude. He loves other people and has the hairiest legs in Texas

    1. Jennifer

Same thing happened to my yorkie. People ask if he’s a mix. Nope. Not a mix. Just huge.

  28. Brittany

My boyfriend and I have combined our kitties now that we’re moved in together – he has a 12 year old tuxedo kitty named Suzy Que, and I have two 3 year old boy and girl kitties named Rowan and Vayda 🙂 they’re kind of SUPER CUTE.

  29. tasha

We have a 10 year old Boxer named Snow, a 2 year old pit named Spike, a cat that came with our house (it was there when we moved in, so naturally we fed her and now she’s ours lol) named Blossom but we usually refer to her as “cat.” We also have a ball python named Gixxer, 2 leopard geckos named Sid and Nancy, and 2 fish!

    1. Jennifer

You’ve got quite an assortment of animals!

  30. Jenny

I miss Goodies too. I feel like it was the only food box where we’d actually eat everything. I guess we aren’t that adventurous here! I miss BabbaCo. Get Well, Good Knight is my favorite books thanks to them. That Knight is just such a nice fellow and his dragon friends are so cute. I think Kiwi is just as good but I really liked the book addition Babba had.

  31. Hannah

    1. I haven’t gotten subscription boxes long enough to have one canceled.
    2. I live with my boyfriend now & we have 1 fish named Hamlet, but I consider my parents pets my own because they haven’t gotten any new ones since I moved out. They have a 1 year old Brittany (spaniel), Remy, who I can’t get enough of. I go to their house to visit him all the time. They have 4 cats: Shadow (14), Millie (8), & Pippa & Kate who are sisters (2). It’s a zoo over there & I love it. That’s why I got my fish Hamlet because I couldn’t stand not having a pet.

  32. Kimm Jones Furlotte

I just started getting boxes a few months ago…so don’t really have any that I miss yet… My husband plays guitar so I was very excited to see the box Fret Loot for him…but then learned it never really got going.. Maybe one day there will be another guitar themed box that will come along.. 🙂

We have two furbabies.. our pit-mix Eenie Meenie (6) (she truly is a mix of many breeds, we did the doggie DNA on her!..LOL) and we have our cat Grayzee Mayzee (5)… the two of them are the best of friends…:)

    1. Jennifer

      Love the names!

  33. Katie

I haven’t subscribed to any subscription boxes that have been canceled.

Currently, we have a cat named Xia. She’s 2 and a crazy ball of energy.

    1. Jennifer

      I love your blog name!

      1. Katie Kreider

        Thanks!

  34. Jill

I loved little spark. A lot like austin lloyd, but they gave these great cards with details on different activities at different stages. I really wish it hadn’t been a beta box.

  35. Christine

I haven’t been into these long enough for experiencing boxes no longer existing.

For pets we have two Pomeranians: Wulf just turned 18 years old on October 1st and Halley turned 12 in September.
We have 3 cats between ages 6 and 9: Violet, Charlie and Mambo
We have 2 hedgehogs: Zoe age 1 1/2 and Briar age 3 1/2

  36. Jessica G

I haven’t had anything I love cancelled yet… my husband would be heartbroken if he stopped getting Loot Crate though — even though he’s only been getting it for 3-4 months, it is his favorite thing in the world.

We have three dogs… a blended family of sorts. Mike came into the relationship with a Chihuahua named Bill (after President Clinton). He has a history of naming all of his dogs after Presidents and First Ladies.

I came in with two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels – named after my favorite paintings:
Paris: Chagall’s Paris through the Window
    Lily: Monet’s Waterlilies.

    1. Jennifer

      I like the naming methods!

Oddly, my dogs are both named after will movies. Baxter was the dog in Anchorman and of course, Buddy the Elf.

  37. Nancy M.

I also miss Goodies– and you just couldn’t beat the price. My son especially liked going through and claiming “his” treats. We have 2 rescue kitties– Pixie and BillyBob– they love to cuddle and lick each others’ heads and I could watch them interact for hours.. They love their own sub boxes of PurrPacks and Pet Flow. Just cancelled KitNip and PetBox because the toys were REALLY starting to accumulate!!

    1. Jennifer

You just couldn’t beat that $7 price tag!

  38. Amanda H.

We have 6 cats… Callie, Piggie, Sugar, and Brutus are all 4 years old. Just adopted 3 month old Brownie and Daisy a couple weeks ago. My husband works a lot so I definitely enjoy their company while he’s gone 🙂

  39. Kelly

Here’s a blast from the past. I think my love for subscription boxes started very young! I always got different book clubs in the mail when I was little and my favorite one was the baby sitters club! every month you got a book and some other goodies. I loved them so much I wanted to sign my Neice up for them last year and realized they don’t sell them at book stores anymore let alone have a book club haha!! They probably haven’t sold them in 20 years.
My husband and I have a rescue English Bulldog named Marley. she is the sweetest most well behaved little girl. we love her so much. we always say she’s so good because she’s grateful to be away from her old owners!!!

    1. Jennifer

I need to ask my mom if I ever got anything like this…

  40. Melissa M

    I miss Goodies!!! RIP

I have a black kitten who I rescued from a kill shelter named Binx…yes from Hocus Pocus. #90sbabyproblems #sobasic

    1. Jennifer

That kind of reminds me I want to see that before Halloween #sobasic

  41. Kristin

I believe it was Cave Cravings and it was a good deal, subscribed and they delivered to Canada at a decent fee – they decided to cancel before I even got my first box. But they refunded me all the money immediately.

I have two pupalups – Keely is our fox red Labrador (yellow on her papers) and she’s 2.5 and then there is Ranger – he’s a Boxer / Wheaton Terrier mix and he’s 1.5 years old – he’s my cuddlebug who actually lets me take photos of him

  42. Avalon

I have a dog, Beagle/ Dachshund mix and he is 9. And Persephanie, “Percy”, a cat, she is white and black-really chunky. She is 10.

  43. Nikki

I haven’t been subscribing to boxes long enough to know which ones are gone or which ones I miss, lol. However, I do have two cats. Oliver (9) is a giant 16 pound ball of pure love. There isn’t a mean bone in his giant body, and his favorite pastime is sleeping. Annie (3) is a tiny 6 pound ball of pure craziness. She needs to be the center of attention at all times, has taught herself to fetch, and her favorite pastime is racing at warp speed around the apartment.

    1. Jennifer

She fetches?? Me dogs haven’t even mastered that…

      1. Nikki

Lol, yeah. I guess she was annoyed one day because we weren’t playing with her. She went and got her toy, brought it over, and dropped it at my feet. I picked it up and threw it, and she brought it right back. She loves it, and it’s how we’ve been playing ever since. We actually have a fetch session every night before bed. It’s the only way to wear her out enough that she’ll sleep, lol.

  44. Lorns

I don’t get any boxes, so I don’t miss any! Pet wise we have two bunnies, Bobo and Bertie, named, unsurprisingly, by Lily. They’re big and eat anything my husband tries to plant!

    1. Jennifer

      HA!!!!
