December 2014 Allure Sample Society

Sample Society, which arrived here earlier today, is the brainchild of the editors of Allure Magazine. Each month they select a curated mix of five deluxe skin, hair, makeup and fragrance samples and deliver them to your door. Your subscription also includes a coupon for $10 off $50 a BeautyBar purchase each month and an Allure penned “mini-magazine” which gives you the details on all the samples.

The Box

Sample Society ships via UPS and took just two days to arrive. They are one of the few subscription boxes that ship via UPS and I totally appreciate that they do.

First Look

We had already received full spoilers on this entire box, so the first look wasn’t a surprise.  It was fantastic though!

The Information Book

Sample Society includes an awesome information booklet which lists the products in the box, prices for full-sizes, what the products do, why Allure likes them, etc.  The December 2014 Allure Sample Society theme was “Party Prep” and included the following items:

~RGB Nail Polish in Oxblood ($18): I think that some people may have received this color in the latest Nina Garcia box, but I got a different shade.  Anyway, I LOVE this.  It is the perfect holiday / winter color and I am obsessed.  I have been on quite a roll with painting my nails lately and I think this is going to be on my nails by tomorrow night.  So gorgeous.

~Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye ($19.72): This is supposed to do everything that my eyes need.  It reduces fine lines, puffiness, dry circles, you name it.  I haven’t found my holy grail eye cream yet and maybe this is it?

~Burberry Beauty Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in Nude Radiance ($8): This may be the first Burberry cosmetics item I have ever received in a subscription box.  Actually I think it’s the first Burberry cosmetics item I have ever even tried?  Sample Society suggests mixing a little of this with your normal base otherwise it’s just too shimmery.  I would agree with that and I think a little goes a long way!

~Butter London Lippy Tinted Balm (Axis Kiss) ($20): Butter London calls this a lip balm, but I call it a lipstick!  I may have kept one of the more neutral colors, but I am passing this pink along to my sister-in-law to enjoy.

~Crabtree & Evelyn Ultra-Moisturizing Hand Therapy in La Source ($8): Love this!  Seriously, I can never get enough candles and hand-creams.  And lip glosses.  Love the smell, how thick and moisturizing it felt and pretty much everything except the cap which I thought was hard to get off.  But I’ll get over that ;).

All totaled I came up with a value of $73.72 for the December 2014 Sample Society Box!  I thought this box was totally 100% fabulous and it more than made up for the last few months which have been just okay.  For $15, this was just fantastic!
