I never did receive tracking on this one, but my December 2014 Beauty Box 5 is here!

In case you aren’t familiar, Beauty Box 5 is a monthly subscription service that delivers a sample box of all things beauty. Each box contains 4 – 5 samples of a variety of makeup, skin care, fragrances and everything in between!  Boxes are $12/month if you do a month-to-month subscription, however, I subscribed a while back when they had a crazy deal that brought the cost of an annual subscription down to $6.58/month.

The Box

Beauty Box 5 ships via DHL Global Mail. It starts out with DHL and then is delivered by USPS. This month’s box was a bit delayed due to a product delay from one of their vendors. They sent out an e-mail about the delay so subscribers weren’t left wondering where their boxes were which is always nice.

Ohh, looks good! Last month’s box was meh, but I could already tell that this one was going to be a winner.

The Information Card

The December 2014 Beauty Box 5 theme is “Merry & Bright” and included the following items:

~Jaqua Raspberry Buttercream Frosting Hand Creme ($12.50): OMG love!  I’ve bought a few items from this brand in the past and they all smell amazing.  This hand creme smells like raspberry frosting and I cannot stop smelling my hands.  And for real, I was on their site last night for way too long checking out all their offerings, including their candles!

~Absolute! New York Nail Polish Remover Pads ($2.99): These are so handy to travel with!  The website says that one of the remover pads (there are 32 in the package)  will handle all 10 nails, but they must not use as many coats of polish as I do because it takes me at least four.  At least.  Still, when you are traveling and want to redo your nails, you can’t beat these.

~Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Moisturizer ($9.94): Subscribers either received this Juice Beauty product or a sample eyeshadow quad from Coastal Scents.  I am quite happy with the Juice Beauty.  I like it, plus I am pretty stocked on eyeshadow right now!

~Nanacoco Nail Polish (Wonderland Basket) ($3.50): Well how fun is this color?  I have been getting the best nail polishes lately (hello light up polish from yesterday) and this one is no exception.  It’s so fun and the colors are like nothing I already own.

~Lucky Brand Lucky Number 6 (~$1): At first I thought this was too floral, but it actually turned out to be almost spicy on me.  I liked it way more after about an hour than I did when I first tried it.  Way better!

All totaled I came up with a value of $29.93 for the December 2014 Beauty Box 5.  I was really happy with this box and liked it a ton more than last months.  Even the one item I wasn’t sure about I ended up liking!

I quit a few months ago but I’ve been reading reviews. This one is so much better than last month!

      So much better!

I was at my sister’s house when she opened the box. It seems to be a much better box than the last month. She seemed happy with it. I think the nail polish remover pads are a nice touch. I see lots of nail polish, but not many other nail products in subs.

    1. theramblingjen

This is very true! I have a zillion bottles of nail polish, but we rarely get removal products!

I love those nail polish removers. They smell so much better than regular remover!

      Agreed!

Instead of the hand lotion, I got a perfume sample called Lucky number 6. I’m not a fan of the scent. My nail polish was really goopy. Was yours?

    1. theramblingjen

Mine wasn’t too goopy. I have had glitter polishes that were much thicker for sure.

ipsy vs beauty box 5…..thoughts, feelings, opinions? I already get birchbox but am looking to expand to another one in the 10-15 range

I’d say ipsy! They typically send more bang for your buck! This BB5 was a great box, but last month was a miss. ipsy seems more consistent.
