The second shipment on my December 2014 Julep box arrived over the weekend which means I can finally do my review on it! I received one box last weekend with two polishes in it and then a week later I received my shadow. Julep didn’t send out an e-mail about the separate shipments, but once I got the first shipment and realized I was missing something I went on their Facebook page and saw a few comments other people had left. I’d think it would have been easier for them to send out an e-mail saying that certain shadows had been delayed, so some subscribers would be getting two shipments, but I guess not?
If you aren’t familiar, Julep is a monthly nail polish subscription service. They offer a “My Maven” box for $24.99/month which contains $40+ worth of product and polish or “Maven Luxe” for $39.99/month which contains $60+ of prestige products. Both boxes are fully customizable and you have the option to switch between tiers. Subscribers prior to 4/29/14 were grandfathered in at the $19.99/month rate, however, they will need to upgrade to the $24.99 subscription if they want to customize their boxes. I am hoping out and have yet to upgrade to the customizable option. Once you do, you can’t move back down.
Julep ships via FedEx Smart Post and (each box) took about 4 days to arrive.
I somehow forgot to customize my Maven box this month (just like last month), so I was sent the box for my default profile. I really didn’t even know what my default profile was (I later determined it’s “Bombshell”) so this box was a surprise for sure.
The December 2014 Julep box featured “The Countdown Collection”. Here is what I received in my “Bombshell” box:
~Paul – Bombshell ($11.20 / $14): Paul is a persian blue with gold micro shimmer. And it’s gorgeous. Depending on how the light hits it, it cam seem very shimmery and other times not so much.
~Soleil – Bombshell ($11.20 / $14): Soleil is a lustrous rose gold chrome. I actually like it much better in person than I do in pictures. It’s shimmery and would like amazing with a little gold glitter accent!
~Orbital Eyeshadow – Equinox ($14.40 / $18): I am rather happy I got Equinox because I know it isn’t a color I would have picked on my own. It went on smoothly and gave a nice pale lavender shimmer without being too much, so that was nice.
All totaled I came up with a value of $36.80 for the December 2014 Julep Maven Bombshell Box. Using non-Maven prices the value would have been $46 which is even better! Although I didn’t select this box, it’s not a bad one and I will use everything in it!
