December 2014 UrthBox

I am still playing catch up on a few reviews from December and one of those is my December 2014 UrthBox! I signed up a while ago through an offer on Gilt City or Rue La La or something along those lines and this is actually my second month.

UrthBox is a monthly subscription which delivers healthy new snacks right to your door. They offer a variety of box options (The Classic, The Gluten-Free, The Vegan and The Diet) which come in sizes ranging from Mini to Large. The Mini “Discovery Box” is $9/month and contains 4-5 snacks. The Small “Part-Time Snacker” box is $19/month and contains 8-10 snacks. The Medium “Happy Snacker” box is $29/month and contains 14-16 products. And finally, the Large “Full-Time Snacker” Box is $49/month and contains 20-24 snacks.

The Box

UrthBox ships via USPS on the 155h of the month. Your first box will ship on the 15th of the following calendar month. Meaning that if you sign up today, your first box will ship on February 15th.

First Look

I purchased the “Happy Snacker” box and knew how many snacks to expect, but I was still quite impressed with the size of this box!  It was packed full of snacks.

The Card

UrthBox doesn’t include a detailed information card, but my December 2014 Medium “Happy Snacker” box contained the following items:

~Next by Nature Dark Chocolate Pretzels: These were great!  I’m not familiar with this brand, but it looks like they have a lot of great snacks.

~Home Free Double Chocolate Chip Cookies: I love these cookies.  This box arrived last month at the same time as a few others, so after I took my pictures of UrthBox I snacked on these cookies while I unboxed everything else.  They are gluten free and all natural and delicious.

~Vintage Italia Pasta Chips – Alfredo: I’m not a huge fan of alfredo sauce, but alfredo pasta chips are a different story.  They are a great alternative to potato chips and have a lot of great flavors to pick from.

~The Good Bean Smoky Chili & Lime Chickpeas: I didn’t eat this specific bag, but I have tried them before and they are good!  I recommend trying these on a salad instead of croutons.

~Frontier Bites: Frontier Bites are made with only eight ingredients and are a nice on the go snack.

~Barefruit Crunchy Sea Salt Caramel Apple Chips: These aren’t quite as good as a caramel apple (or better yet, apple slices dipped in warm caramel), but they are pretty darn good.

~Hana Black & White Cookies: I cannot locate an information on these cookies, but they were good.  Very good.

~Peter Rabbit Organics Mango, Banana & Orange Pouch: I personally cannot get into the pouch trend.  I just cannot.  WB used to love them but I cannot get him to even try them anymore.  Now, L? He loves them.  Totally loves.

~Raw + REV 100 Fruit, Nut & Seed Superfood Bar: I wasn’t a huge fan of these.  They were a little too dense for me.

~Ricky’s Lucky Nuts – Coffee: I gave these to B to take to work since I knew he would appreciate them more than I would.  And I am sure he snacked on them while drinking a cup of coffee.

~Chimes Ginger Chews: I believe that ginger helps with hunger (or something along those lines), but I wasn’t a fan of these.  They tasted like ginger and peppermint which I guess are just two flavors I don’t like mixed together.

~Matt’s Munchies Premium Fruit Snack (Ginger Spice): I generally like ginger, but I wasn’t crazy about this one either.

~Positive Energy Orange Juice: This is basically caffeinated orange juice.  And I am cracking up because B was this close to giving it to the kids with breakfast one morning.  Luckily he looked at the label right before he opened it!

I didn’t do a cost breakdown on this box, but it works out to a little less than $2 per item. It’s a nice option if you want some snacks, but you don’t want traditional snack foods.  I am going to keep this one for a while, but I might downgrade to the Small box option.
