1. Do you bring your own bags to the store? Is it common where you live? I’m talking about like trips to the drugstore and the grocery store. Do you bring reusable bags or do you use the paper / plastic ones they give you? I’m working on getting better at it. It’s actually not overly common to see people bringing their own bags around here. At least not to the stores I go to. I see MAYBE 1 out of every 50 or so people with their own bags? Some states mandate that you bring your own bags to the store now correct? I am sure we’ll eventually get there too.
2. How are you doing on your New Years Resolutions? I am not doing very well about reading more. In fact, I am doing nothing about it. With the exception of US Weekly and People, I haven’t read anything since the New Year started. I read the news online, but I am not counting that. Happily I have been drinking more water and eating better. In fact, I haven’t had any Diet Pepsi or coffee (GASP) in a week. And amazingly enough, I am even doing better about going to bed earlier. I’d guess I went to bed before midnight about half the time. That’s pretty good for me! Obviously it could be better though.
Can’t wait to hear your answers!
I have approximately one bajillion reusable bags strewn about my car and house and yet I never ever have them when I’m in the damn store! Arg! So not having them prompts me to buy more and eventually my whole life will be kept in those bags.
I’m doing alright with my resolutions. I’m loggging my food in MyFitnessPal, wearing my Fitbit, and reading more (already finished two books!). I need to start getting up early and exercising but one step at a time, lol.
I try to always bring my own bags, but I do get the plastic ones at least once a month for my small garbage cans and for dog walks lol. I bought these great ones on Amazon and I seriously love them. I used to have the Monde Ami bags but after a few years they started falling apart. I was hesitant to use these but I honestly love them and how much I can get in them! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H22NF1U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I should buy more. The only thing I don’t like about them is I have to stuff them into a Monde ami bag or they will fall all over. I also bought these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H22NF1U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
for my cold/frozen items.
The only thing I’m bad about is that I only use them to grocery shop and I should bring them when I go to Target or anywhere else for that matter. ooops.
My resolution was to get back into a routine of exercising again. Um…I’m only on the 3rd day of regular exercise. And I signed up for Yoga twice a week so hopefully that will continue. That’s always my resolution though. I don’t know how you go without coffee–that’s like blood lol.
I don’t use reusable bags, but I really need to start! I have to many plastic bags in my house, and we don’t need that many. I do recycle them at the store though, where they have those bins to recycle the plastic bags, so I guess that’s a step in the right direction.
My main new year’s resolution was to work through my beauty stash and to purchase less in terms of beauty (that means fewer sales and fewer sub boxes until I use what I have)…I’m actually doing a good job of going through products. I’ve been saving my empties and will record them (via a photo on Instagram) every month. So far I’ve gotten through 10 empties for January, with more on the way! There are lots of empties challenges on Instagram (#100daysofempties or #365daysofempties), but I’m not committed enough to do them, haha! With that being said, I’m totally FAILING at the other part of my resolution (purchasing less in terms of beauty). I’ve been eyeing the Birchbox Vanity Fair box and have resolved to get it once I save up more points. And Zoya has a sale right now (buy 3 polishes, get 3 FREE mystery shades)…how can I pass that up?!!
I’m telling myself that after those 2 purchases, I’ll finally be done purchasing, and then maybe I’ll focus on my resolution of spending less? Until the next great sale/deal comes along LOL
I have a ton of AWESOME reusable bags (a very large reusable bag FULL of other reusable bags) and some how just can not remember to bring one not ONE!!! I have them in my car, and I get all the way in the store and have things in my cart and then I remember. Ugh!!!
Books are tough to commit to. I decided because I tend to be a partial book reader and really just dont have time to sit and read, I do audio books. I listen to books when I do the treadmill in the morning, which, yes can be boring, but I need mental fitness too. and us moms have little else time really.
I inherited a ton of really nice reusable bags when my boyfriend’s grandmother died and we went to her funeral and helped pack up all of her belongings for donation. There were some really nice fragile things that we took and the bags worked great for extra padding. I do use them when I go to the grocery store. If I leave them in my car, I won’t remember to bring them in the store so I keep them in a drawer in my kitchen and get them out when I’m compiling my grocery list. Though one day, I went to Trader Joe’s with one reusable bag on my arm. I got to the register, the cashier bagged my stuff in a paper bag and when he was almost done I remembered that I had the bag ON MY ARM! I’m scatter brained a lot, haha. I wish that were the only time that happened.
I don’t use them when I go to Target or Walmart though.. not sure why. I’m getting too many plastic bags again so I’m going to have to stop getting them there. I use the plastic ones for poop bags on walks/hikes with my dog and for the bathroom garbage cans.
The popularity is hit or miss here. When I go to Fry’s (Kroger), not many people bring their own bags but when I go to the health food type stores, pretty much everyone has bags. They give you a $0.05 discount per bag. I think they’re trying to ban plastic bags here too.. and I’ve been to stores that don’t have bags so if you don’t bring one you’re going to have to carry everything out by itself.
I don’t really do resolutions, I think of them as ways to just disappoint myself at the end of the year. I try to be healthy and happy all the time.
Some cities around where I live do have a plastic bag ban, and I believe CA will be adopting this in July, however there are groups trying to stop it. As of right now, I don’t take my own reusable bags, however I think I should. I need to buy some first. lol
I am surprisingly doing pretty good with my resolutions. I am budgeting better so far, and have already cancelled some subscription boxes, since one of my resolutions was to cut unneccesary expenses. It’s not that bad, and I do feel great.
I’m in a part of California that has banned plastic bags. People are still bad at bringing a reusable bag. You end up paying a quarter for a paper bag or people try to carry things without a bag. Its been over a year now but it just takes time to get used to it. We had an enormous stockpile of plastic bags, the target ones were the best. Now they are all used up and we’ll need to buy some to line the trash can.
Ca. just passed a law, were you need to bring reusable bags because they are getting rid of the plastic ones. I like the idea but I use the plastic bags in my bathrooms and the kids rooms for trash. Target will give you 5 cent credit for each bag you bring and use. I just got my exercise mach. so I will start using it today. But my sleeping is still very bad, some days I don’t go to sleep at all. Need to really work on this.
I never carry reusable bags because they’re really not all that great for the environment, and unless you clean them at least weekly, they’re a bacterial breeding ground. We forget how much water gets used cleaning all these things. I reuse or recycle them instead.
1. I have been trying really hard to use my own, but mostly just at the grocery store. I don’t think of it anywhere else! Not sure why. But I use the store bags at home for cleaning up after the dogs and for trash bags in the bathroom garbage cans, so I don’t always bring my own. Who wants to buy trash bags?! Haha!
2. I don’t make resolutions. I know I won’t keep them. But I have been trying to eat better and run more. The eating better is going pretty well. The running not so much. Too cold for me!

I live in LA County and we are charged $.05 – $.10 if we need a bag. It took a couple of months for it to become a habit but now I see most people bringing in their bags to the grocery store, target etc. Target even pays you $.05 for every bag that you bring in and use!
In Monterey, California, they charge 25 cents I believe per plastic bag at multiple different stores. It is hard to keep track. I do have plenty of reusable bags and I need to get better at bringing them to every store I go to. It seems like it will be a good habit to keep.
I have bit my nails since I was little, I told my self a little before new years I would stop and I haven’t bitten them since. I’m also trying to take vitamins everyday and I’m wanting to be more organized so I bought myself a cheap planner from target to see if I enjoy having a planner. If I do, I might work up to get me an erin condren planner next year. I definitely feel I need to be more organized this semester at least because I am in my last semester of undergrad studies, applying for graduate studies, and working on two projects with my job. It’s going to be a busy semester but it’s going to be so awesome to learn all of these new things for my major 🙂
1. I see some people bringing their own bags to the store, but most don’t.
2. I started back at the gym last night and am on day 3 of the 21 day fix but I haven’t really started on my other resolutions yet.
I use reusable bags. Environmental stuff aside, I just find them easier to carry than the plastic or paper bags.
Very true! You can fit so much more in them! The handles seldom rip.
I live in a plastic-bag ban area. I use reusable bags. If I forget them I try to juggle all my stuff to the car out if guilt. Then I bag it out there 😉
Plastic bags are banned in California but you can pay a few cents for a paper bag. I usually pay extra because I use the paper bags for my compost waste. Oh yeah because in my city, you get 1 small bag of trash per week picked up so you better learn to recycle and compost!
LA (maybe the whole county?) has required you bring your own bags for maybe a year now. It was REALLY hard to remember at first. I set up reminders on my iPhone so that it would tell me to bring in my bags every time I got near my stores, but then I regularly go to like 4 grocery stores so my phone kept going off as I drove around town! So annoying.
I’m used to it now and hardly ever have to shell out the 10 cents per bag they charge us if you forget. But I’m just not sure what the heck I’m going to line my bathroom trash cans with once our stash of plastic bags is gone! I’m told you can buy tiny trash bags but I refuse.
And I didn’t make New Years resolutions. I’m participating in a blogger’s book challenge where you read 26 books that meet certain criteria (“A book set in a place you want to visit” “A book by an author you’ve loved before” etc), so I guess my resolution is to read all those. I’m doing ok. I figure I have about10-14 days to finish each book and I’m on my second so I’m still on track!
I always bring bags with me. Those Blue Avacado bags that came in a box a while back (Popsugar maybe?) are great. If you’re looking to buy some, the envirosax brand is great as well, I’ve bought deals on Groupon or Living Social before where I got 5 for $12-15.
It is not often I see other people using them, but my mom & I definitely do. & I can fit so much in a bag, when usually that same purchase would equal like 3 plastic bags.
IF you are not aware, Target gives you 5 cents off for each bag you bring in!
Also, unrelated but I am unable to see your Disquis comments on Google Chrome for the last few days. The comments show up for a few seconds, then disappear & a message appears showing that it’s taking longer than usual to load. I decided to try Internet Explorer in order to comment on your giveaway, it works fine there…
I remember to use the reusable bags about half the time. People rarely bring in reusable bags.
I’ve been doing great with my goals/resolutions!
I have a ton of reusable of bags though I often forget to bring them with me. It’s very common to see people with reusable bags around especially since we have Wegmans and lots of people have Wegmans Reusable bags.
My resolutions for the year were to cook outside my comfort zone, become healthier and to work on my blog more. It’s hard to cook outside my comfort zone when my meal budget got slashed but I hope to work with what I’ve got. I haven’t done anything to become healthier. My boyfriend’s brother was suppose to do a fitness challenge with me but that hasn’t happened yet. Lastly my blog. I haven’t done anything with my blog since Thanksgiving so hopefully I’ll get on track with that.
