Sample Society, which arrived here this afternoon, is the brainchild of the editors of Allure Magazine. Each month they select a curated mix of five deluxe skin, hair, makeup and fragrance samples and deliver them to your door. Your subscription also includes a coupon for $10 off $50 a BeautyBar purchase each month and an Allure penned “mini-magazine” which gives you the details on all the samples.
Allure’s Sample Society ships via UPS. It always arrives in the first ten days of the month and takes only two days to get to me.
Sample Society always has everything so perfectly packaged. It’s a fun one to open because all of the items are always so perfectly arranged.
Sample Society includes an awesome information booklet which lists the products in the box, prices for full-sizes, what the products do, why Allure likes them, etc. The February 2015 Allure Sample Society theme was “A Few of My Loves” and included some new and old favorites of the Allure Editor:
~Nugg Face Masks (Deep Cleansing, Revitalizing, and Hydrating) ($9.87): I have never tried these masks before today. I tested out the Hydrating one and it really worked. The mask doesn’t tingle or tighten your skin or dry out when it’s done working. It’s just kind of there. It feels like you put a bunch of lotion on your face. You leave it on for 5-10 minutes and then rinse it off. Hydrating made my skin feel great and I would certainly buy more.
~Strivectin Intensive Illuminating Serum ($24.75): I received this in my January Sample Society box as well and have been pretty happy with it. I haven’t been using it as consistently as I should be, but I am going to try.
~Chloe Love Story VOC ($3): The information card describes “Love Story” as a sweet and cheerful floral fragrance. It was a little too strong for me though. I will give it another chance in a few days to see if that changes, but I doubt I will ever buy a full-sized bottle of this.
~Batiste Dry Shampoo Blush ($3.99): Love this stuff! I think it might be my second favorite dry shampoo (Suave is my first favorite). It smells good and works awesome.
~Nails Inc “Princes Palace” Nail Lacquer ($9): Sometimes this looks more grey and sometimes more blue. Sample Society suggests using it with a matte top coat so I may have to try that.
All totaled I came up with a value of $50.61 for the February 2015 Allure Sample Society box. I didn’t think it was as amazing as the last few months, but I was happy with it. I like, and will use, every single one of the items in this box (even the perfume).
