RawSpiceBar February 2015

RawSpiceBar, who kindly sent me this package to review, sends 3-4 hand-picked, small batch, freshly ground spice blends with each monthly box. Each of the blends weigh about 0.5 ounces, which allows you to create a single dish feeding approximately 12-14 people. You will also receive kitchen-tested, detailed recipes and ideas for each spice blend you receive as well as fun gifts and stories about the history and origins of each blend every month.

The Information Card

The February 2015 RawSpiceBar features the following spices from Punjab, India:

~Rose & Chai Spices: These spices are a blend of ginger, black peppercorn, rose buds and cardamon.  The recipe included for this spice pouch is chai & rose nankhatai cookies.  I was going to make these with the boys yesterday, but I realized that we didn’t have any rice flower.  I’ll grab some during the next trip to the grocery store and we’ll be testing these out!

~Tandoori Spices & Punjabi Garam Marala: These spices are used together to make Punjabi Chicken Tikka Masala.  I cannot wait for B to make this dish and I am hopefully he’ll try it this weekend.  We need to pick up a few things from the grocery store for it, but the recipe seems very easy to follow and looks amazing!

I didn’t do a cost breakdown on this box, but I thought it was very unique and I loved that it includes recipes to use with your spices.  I really think that “makes” the box!
