Birchbox Man has been allowing subscribers to pick their lifestyle item for the past few months now. There were a variety of choices this month including the Tommy John Cool Cotton Trunk ($29) (which is the one we went for), W&P Mason Stones with Royal Rose Simple Syrup ($17+), Happy Socks Men’s Socks – 2 pairs ($24) or Declan Solid Squared ($30) with Word. Notebooks 3 pack ($10).
The April 2015 Birchbox Man theme was “Mad Men” and ours contained the following items:
~das boom Industries Everywhere Lotion (Detroit) ($3): There’s a lot going on in this lotion, but Detroit’s a complicated city so it makes sense. B thinks it smells like pipe tobacco but didn’t consider that to be a bad thing. I can’t see him using it for anything other than hand lotion though. It might be a little too much to use everywhere.
~Billy Jealousy Headlock Molding Cream ($2): This smells incredible and worked well on both L’s and B’s hair. L’s hair doesn’t take product very well, but this took nicely and stayed in longer than most stuff we’ve tried.
~PLANT Body Wash – Get It On ($2.11): I don’t love the smell of this one. I think it’s a bit too sweet? I don’t know. B is really good about using up his samples though so he’ll probably take it on a trip with him.
~Tommy John Cool Cotton Trunk ($29): I knew right away that this was the lifestyle item we were going for this month. B already has whiskey stones and while he loves fun socks he already has a bunch so he didn’t need those. And the notebook was cool, but he’d never use the pocket square so that was out.
All totaled I came up with a value of $36.11 for the April 2015 Birchbox Man. The majority of that was obviously the trunks, but since B loves them that’s totally fine with us. Including the points for purchasing the box (20 points = $2) and the points for reviewing the products / sharing on Facebook (50 points = $5), the real value of this box is $43.11. I have been loving that we get now get to pick our lifestyle items and think that was the best thing Birchbox Man could have done!
