Sample Society, which arrived here this afternoon, is the brainchild of the editors of Allure Magazine. Each month they select a curated mix of five deluxe skin, hair, makeup and fragrance samples and deliver them to your door. Your subscription also includes a coupon for $10 off $50 a BeautyBar purchase each month and an Allure penned “mini-magazine” which gives you the details on all the samples.
Allure’s Sample Society ships via UPS. I usually get it within the first 10 days of the month, but this month it arrived on the 11th. Not a huge deal though. I think February being a short month delayed a lot of the subscription boxes.
I knew what was in this month’s box, but that only made me more excited to get it in my hands. And the first look didn’t disappoint!
The March 2015 Allure Sample Society included the following items to refresh your makeup bag and prepare for the bright, happy, flu-less months ahead:
~Benefit Roller Lash Mascara ($8): I know that this has basically been everywhere the last few weeks, but it’s the first time I have received it. I like it, but I don’t LOVE it. It didn’t clump, but it didn’t lengthen as much as I would have liked. Have you seen this mascara review? The Benefit Roller Lash isn’t in here (it’s too new), but it tested 100 different mascara on the same eye. It’s a really cool comparison!
~Oscar Blandi Pronto Texture & Volume Spray ($11): This spray has appeared in an assortment of boxes, but I am always happy for more. It’s fabulous, but it is expensive, so the more samples I get the better. It gives my hair great texture and volume which I really need because without anything, my hair is flat and straight.
~Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer ($11.25): This is another item that has made the rounds in subscription boxes. It’s not my favorite, but it’s handy for traveling. I’d like it more if it had SPF in it. Right now I’ll use use it at night, but if it had SPF I’d be more willing to use it in the mornings as well and maybe it’d give me better results?
~Cargo Cosmetics Essential Lip Gloss (Prague) ($16): I don’t know how many different colors were sent out, but I LOVE the color I received. Prague is a “deep cranberry” and is gorgeous. This lip gloss isn’t sticky and stays on nicely. It’s also quite moisturizing.
~Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm ($12): I absolutely love this lip balm. It leaves your lips shiny and moisturized without making them at all sticky. You don’t have to reapply that often because it works so well, but I do anyway because it smells so good.
All totaled I came up with a value of $58.25 for the March 2015 Sample Society box. This box only had one “new” (to me anyway) item, but I loved it. The lip balm and the Oscar Blandi alone were worth the $15 cost for me. Everything else was just a bonus. This was a fantastic month!
