Birchbox April 2015 Subscription Box

My second April 2015 Birchbox arrived over the weekend.  I mention it in every review, but I have two subscriptions to Birchbox.  On one account I usually opt for that month’s curated box and on the other I go for the standard Birchbox.  This review is on the regular April 2015 Birchbox, you can check out my curated box review here.

If you aren’t familiar, Birchbox, which is $10/month, offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes and get some complete steals (which I try to do).

Birchbox + Rifle Paper Co. Box

This is easily my favorite Birchbox box ever.  They collaborated with Rifle Paper Co. this month and everyone who didn’t opt for a curated box received these beauties.  SO pretty!

I had peeked at my Birchbox so I knew what to expect when I opened it.  The actual size of the items is unknown until you receive your box though.

As I mentioned before, the April 2015 Birchbox was a collaboration with Rifle Paper Co.  I received box #45 (*) this month which contained the following:

~Anastasia Beverly Hills – Clear Brow Gel ($6.68): Oddly enough one of the main reasons I opted for the New York Mad Men box on my other account was to try this.  I thought it was funny that I received it in this box too.  I liked it a lot though and really think it works to tame unruly brows so I don’t mind having a spare.

~Beaver Professional Hydro Nutritive Moisturizing Shampoo ($3.49) and Repairing Conditioner ($3.05): A totally useful sample for my travel bag, but not overly exciting.  It’s designed to repair and rebuild strands of hair which are good things, but I know I won’t be purchasing a full-size of these.

~Laura Geller Beauty Baked Liquid Radiance Foundation ($6.08): This is a little dark for my skin right now so it may need to wait until I get some self-tanner action happening before I can use it.  It seemed a little thick, but most foundation does to me so I usually just end up mixing it with a little lotion and it’s fine.

~Temple Peace Be Still Calming Face & Body Balm ($4.83): I’m not sure if I felt calmer when I used this, but I did like it.  It rubbed in easily and smelled quite good.  I’m trying to stick with the same skincare routine on my face so I stop breaking out, so I only used this one on my hands / arms.

All totaled I came up with a value of $24.13 for my April 2015 Birchbox. Including the points I get for purchasing the box (10 points = $1 to spend at Birchbox) and reviewing / sharing the items in the box (60 points = $6), the value increases to $31.13.Totally not my favorite Birchbox ever, but everything is usable and I just love that Rifle Paper Co. box!

I also opted for the Birchbox with Rifle Paper Co Cold Drink Tumbler and Notebook Set Birchbox Plus upgrade this month.  It was an additional $20 (a $5 savings) and OMG I love it!  The tumbler is the same print as the box and the notebooks are gorgeous.  I couldn’t be happier with this.  Can they partner with Rifle Paper Co. every month???

Have you gotten your Birchbox yet this month?  What’d you get? If you are interested in subscribing I believe you can still use coupon code “GAP10” to get 100 extra Birchbox points (which is equal to $10 to spend in the Shop) with any new subscription purchase.

(*) If you want to check out all the boxes this month, go here and change the #1 at the end (instead of “april-2015-bb1”, it’d be “april-2015-bb2”, “april-2015-bb3”, etc.) to anywhere between 2 and 71 since there were 71 different box varieties this month.

I hope I like that Beaver shampoo and conditioner because I am getting it on both of my accounts…

My tracking still hasn’t updated, though realistically it could get here today if it’s not actually stuck in Fishers, IN. I can’t wait.

I got that Peace Be Still stuff last month as my “welcome” box since I re-subscribed.. The scent is a lot more than I’d like and it felt like hotel quality, which I discovered thanks to the BB facebook that TempleSpa is in fact a hotel toiletry company. But I’m using it up because I’m all out of night moisturizer and I’m not sure what kind I’m going to buy a full size of since I haven’t been in love with any of the ones I’ve used before. Algenist Overnight Restorative Cream is the top contender, but at $90 for 2 oz, I want to find something better/cheaper.

EEK – that notebook and tumbler set – I could not resist it either! So pretty! They have had some great bonus selections lately it has been hard to pass them up.

I got the Beaver shampoo & conditioner too…but I’m just happy they weren’t foil packets. This way I can actually travel with the sample. I picked the POP eyeshadow palette, and I got Harvey Prince body butter and a Cynthia Rowley lip stain. All in all a good box.
