Mantry April 2015 Subscription Box

Mantry (aka the Modern Man’s Pantry) is a food of the month club that lets you discover the finest american artisan foods – and gives you ideas of what to do with them.  It’s $75/month and has been around since the Fall of 2012.  It’s one of the more expensive subscriptions we get, but B loves it!

Mantry usually ships via UPS Mail Innovations, but this month my box shipped via USPS Priority Mail.

The Mantry Crate

Mantry packages all of their items inside of a Mantry branded wooden crate.  I think their packaging is one of the reasons I enjoy them so much.

I was super excited to open this and see all unfamiliar items!

The April 2015 Mantry theme was “Taco Truck” and included the following items:

~Yellowbird Habanero Sauce ($4): Mantry has a recipe for a cocktail using this sauce, but I am thinking maybe a little bit on a taco?  Just a little bit though!

~Deano’s Jalapeños Jalapeño Chips ($4.49): Once this bag is opened these will be gone.  Mantry also suggests using these as a crunchy topping on a taco, but seriously the bag won’t last long enough for that.

~Pernicious Pickling Co. Pickled Red Onions ($10): B and I both looked at these and were like no.  No way.  But the more I think about these on a taco, okay, yeah, I want to try that.

~Old Ranch Dog Mexican Hot Chocolate Walnuts ($8.99): I thought I would like these more than I actually do.  There is a lot going on in here.  They are chocolately, but they do have a kick to them for sure.

~Savage Jerky Co. Mojo Jerky ($7.99): B was probably most excited about the beef jerky in this box.  He is a complete beef jerky addict.  It’s garlic, lime and cilantro flavored jerky and is hand-crafted in small batches.

~Hernan Mole Poblano ($8.99): I cannot remember where we received this but I recall LOVING it.  I can’t wait to make tacos with this.

~Mantry Black Bonus: Luchador Bottle Opener ($7.74): A few months back we received a Mantry Black card (it doubles as a bottle opener) in the mail.  It’s for loyal subscribers (we have subscribed to Mantry for years) and it had a note that mentioned that our Mantry experience would be upgraded whenever possible.  This fun bottle opener was the first little gift we have gotten and I love it!  SO fun.  I can’t wait to see what they have in store next.

All totaled I came up with a value of $52.20 for the April 2015 Mantry.  And that includes the value of the bottle opener.  I was really surprised that the value of this one wasn’t higher.  I never would have guessed.  I loved that everything in here was brand-new to Mantry and I thought they did a great job with the theme!
